There's a video going around on Facebook, among other places, I'm sure, that has a British commentator doing play by play of his two dogs lying on the floor with one of the dogs with a toy bone in his mouth. Absolutely thrilling. Check it out, pretty funny.

He also does one where they are eating their dinners and who will finish first. I think there are others. He posts them on Twitter.

Excellent stuff.

My family had me PA Announce grocery list items the other day. They got a kick out of the chocolate frosting announcement. It was filmed by the wife. I haven't dared ask to have it (I look like crap - more-so than usual).

5 months of lock down and we are going to have to rename threads, cancel the conference championship fantasy league.

Sounds depressing.  We still have 6 months to right the ship for basketball season. Half that for football.

This is a pretty good one from Arlo White - Premier League announcer for NBC Sports - and would be the Chicago Fire announcer too, beginning this summer:

As usual there are a lot of incoming freshmen.  Anyone know if one of them might be good enough to start as a freshman?

I don't see the opportunity for a freshman starter at IWU or Elmhurst next year.  I could see it on the other 7 CCIW teams.

Mr. Ypsi

'Attended' my first ever Zoom party this afternoon.  We've had a Trivia party group for over 30 years (basically each month, probably 10 times a year), consisting of dinner (some GREAT cooks in the group) and 1 or more games of Trivial Pursuit.  The games used to last until the wee hours, but have shrunk drastically as the group has aged (and, alas, too often died).

Nine of us today (the core of the core group), but I just didn't find it a satisfying substitute for actually getting together.  But some of the folks clearly enjoyed it, so I'll participate again next month - and hopefully, it will soon be the real thing!

Ypsi,

No doubt the Zoom party format isn't as enjoyable or satisfying  as an actual physical gathering. Accordingly, your feeling is not surprising. However, as you related, some of the members clearly did enjoy themselves. And, while you may not have gotten as much of a charge from the festivities as some of your friends did, i think it's important to remember that part of their enjoyment stemmed from your presence and what you contributed. You helped others have a good time in a time when good times are lacking for many of us. You did a good thing. So even though you didn't have the best time, you were still able to make some of your friends smile. I think that's important, and something to celebrate.  8-)  👍 🥂

Yeah, I totally miss REAL contact, but thanks for your post.  At least 2 or 3 of the people would be in even worse danger than me (I'm 71, only one older, but some in worse health), so I'm definitely planning to continue if people want to (and tentatively we'll do the same thing 4 weeks from now).

We've also done Zoom with the grandkids.  It is an extremely pallid substitute for the real connection, but at least it is something.  Oldest grandchild turns 6 on April 29th; we can't be there, but we'll do our best - Happy Birthday, Max!! ;D

Better half is one of six—2 in IL, 3 in WI, 1 in MN. About every 3rd Sat the 12 of us have a Zoom cocktail party. Fun. 🍻 🍹 🍷
Face time with 6 month old granddaughter every 2-3 days. Last Sat it was 63 so son, DIL, and g-daughter came over. We sat on the patio wall keeping 6 feet apart, but being that close to her was such a thrill after not being able to hold her for a month now. Hard. Very hard.  :(
