Ok. That sent me back to the roster. Yoder played with Tommy Nelson. Not Heflen.

Ron Rose and the Titans have landed 6-1 PG Shane Miller from Springfield HS.

As a JR averaged 17.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 3.4 apg; shot 53% FG.  Springfield Journal Register Large School All-Area Team.

Very heavily recruited kid...big one for the Titans.

Q, Any update on Brady Rose?  Or has the pandemic wiped out his season?

By coincidence, the best high school football player in Michigan this season was ... Brady Rose! ;)

Brady is playing in Bulgaria, for BC Beroe Stara Zagora.  It's a level up from his team in Germany last season.

He is the starting PG and averages 15.2 ppg.  He's shooting .525 from the field and .512 from 3.

The other 4 starters:
G - Derric Jean, 6-2 (D1 La Tech)
F - Pavel Marinov, 6-6 (Bulgaria)
F - Simeon Iliev, 6-7 (Bulgaria)
F - Cardarian Raines, 6-9 (D1 Va Tech)

Other US D1 players are from Winthrop, Farleigh Dickinson, UT-Arlington, Lehigh.

The Titans returned to campus yesterday and were tested for COVID.

Tests came back today -- all players, coaches, trainers and managers tested negative.

The Titans started practice at 6:30pm tonight.

I've learned Elmhurst All-American PG Jake Rhode (21 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 apg) tore ligaments in his ankle during Fall practice.  He's currently sidelined.

I don't know when he's expected back, but probably safe to say he will miss significant time.

I have heard Rhode plans to use the COVID waiver and come back next year...for his 6th year.

Glad to see a schedule, finally.  Hope it can happen.

Schedule!

https://cciw.org/news/2021/1/6/general-cciw-announces-winter-2021-schedules.aspx

Why no Wheaton vs IWU games?

It is a 12-game schedule.  IWU does not play Wheaton or Carthage in the regular season.

I see that but my real question is why?

In a 9 team league (so 8 opponents) I'm just curious why you would play a 12 game schedule that is only 6 of the 8 opponents for some schools (IWU for example) while others are playing against 7 of the 8 (Auggie as an example).  I'm not criticizing the schedule, it just seems curious to me that its not 4 teams you play twice (home & away), and the other 4 you play once (two home games, two road games).  Suppose it is likely C19 testing related.  Doesn't really matter if it means there will be basketball played!

First reason is COVID testing. There are some allowances with how often you play and who you play to determine how many tests you need to conduct in a week.

The second reason is the timeframe between when they felt it was safe to return, the two weeks needed after arrival on campus before competition can begin, and allowances (12 games) in case there are cancelations to still give teams the minimum number of games needed to qualify for a potential tournament.

Yes, it's just 100% about testing and the impacts that has on schedule options.

There were different versions of this schedule...pros and cons to each.  This is where they landed.

The testing guidance from the NCAA is very dense.  The USA South is doing home and homes against the same opponent every week, just to minimize required testing and associated costs.
