Augie 67
Wheaton 88

Wheaton led and controlled most of the way. Adom with 26, Cruikshank 20 and Anthony 15 to lead the way. Carter Duwa (13) and Nate Ortiz (12) led the points for Augie.

Yes, some problems with TOs for the Titans in the first half, some newbies trying to settle in to the speed of D3 ball.  They will learn.  Still, the second half looked better.  Peter Lambesis is just so good, with excellent foot speed and basketball smarts, on both ends.  Six steals.  He played great D, along with his 24 points.  Leritz and Bair are a ton down low, could have been used more in this game.  Strange to see Schumacher and Wallen coming off the bench, but I do believe Noe deserves to be in the starting line-up.  IMHO.  Lots of good options with this depth for Ron Rose.  Another chance to get things better in sync on Monday afternoon.

Go TITANS!

Wallen is dealing with an injury...that is why he didn't start.

Noe vs Schumacher starting job will probably be a game-by-game decision.  Incredible depth at the SG spot for IWU with those two.

Sounds like weather issues in CCIW land tomorrow?

Gregory Sager

Snow and high wind, starting at 3 pm here in the city, so earlier elsewhere in the state.

Early look at my weather app this morning says snow starting about 3 in the western 'burbs, with an inch of snow during the day and 3-5 tonight. We'll have to see.

That one makes the most sense, given that that's one of the longest road trips for CCIW play. Could see some of the more local ones still go on.

Back when I was in undergrad, I was supposed to go call an NCC-NPU women's game at the crackerbox for WONC on a day where it was snowing pretty good. A lot of times we would hitch a ride on the team bus, but they didn't have space for us, and I noped out of driving into the city in the snow (my color guy was a freshman and I wasn't about to make him drive it).

A decade-plus on, and the crackerbox is still the only local CCIW venue I haven't been to. Also have Carver, Griswold, and Van Male on my "need to get to" list, though my dad went to the NCC-Carroll game last year since my brother was at a convention in Milwaukee that same weekend and my dad needed an escape.

Hmm. That seems a little odd. Carver, Griswold, and Van Male are the farthest outposts of the CCIW, whereas North Park and North Central are close enough that you can even take public transportation (CTA Brown Line and Metra BNSF) from one campus to the other without ever having to walk more than three blocks before or after train stations.

Then again, the way that the CCIW has been set up over the past several seasons has made it harder for game staff such as you and I to make it to road games, since men's and women's games are scheduled opposite each other, venue-wise, on weeknights now. F'rinstance, I used to be something of a regular at Tarble, but I haven't set foot in that gym since the 2017 CCIW men's basketball tournament. I think it's been just as long since I was at Carver, Shirk, or Griswold. Van Male? Heck, I haven't been there for a game since Carroll re-entered the league. The last time I saw a game at Van Male was back in the late '80s, before Carroll decamped for the MWC in '92 ... although I did walk in Van Male and looked around when I was up there to call a NPU @ CU football game at Schneider Stadium maybe three or four years ago.

I think part of it too was in instances where we drove (I rode shotgun to Tarble once, and made the drive solo for a CCIW Softball Tournament game one spring when Carthage was hosting it), we'd get reimbursed for mileage. Not sure if they'd reimburse a Metra or CTA ticket, but I also never tried (also considering the equipment we'd be traveling with).

My first full year of doing PA for the women, since we were doing the home-and-home things at the time I went to Elmhurst to catch the NCC women play there on a Wednesday night when the men hosted the Jays back at the hangar. Took my son at eight months old to his first game a few years back when NCC played in the Beth Baker Classic at Wheaton after having called a couple games there in the past. Called one game at the Shirk, but that's been it as far as CCIW venues are concerned. Something for when fans are allowed at games again (and probably when my kids are a little older.)

Just heard from NPU AD John Born that, while both athletic departments continue to monitor the weather, it looks as though both the men's game at North Park and the women's game at North Central will take place tonight.

How about Carroll using a "robot" camera operator on Saturday?

At first I thought they were joking.

I am not a fan of the systems. I know some people have found them okay. In my experience in broadcasting, they can be a pain in the ass and sometimes don't follow the action all that well.

To each their own. I appreciate the reasons why some go with it, but ...

Looks be the only games today as Carroll-IWU are both off for covid.
