Agreed Q, "a Final Four caliber team," with great depth.

I hope Covid stays away the rest of the games, including the CCIW tournament.

I didn't see the game...but, what happened or who shut down Marek....0-9 on shot attempts and no free throw attempts.  He must have been totally frustrated.

That's a pretty bold statement for a team that has played just 3 games, 2 of them at home. You must be some kind of expert.

Wheaton 76
Carthage 70

Wheaton gets a win in Kenosha in a game where they trailed by 13 midway through the 2nd half. 4 Wheaton players in double figures led by Cruikshank with 16. Bulatovic for Carthage had 31. Wheaton shot 32 FT's to just 8 for Carthage. The Thunder shot 39% from 3 vs 23% for the CBT

This was a really hard fought win by the Thunder, coming back with the late charge to get the W.  After managing to tie the game at 60 with about 4 mins left, a big three by Gavin Hawkins and another by Luke Anthony helped Wheaton extend to the finish.  Besides leadng scorer Cruickshank, Cade Alioth had another double double with 13 and 12.  Anthony also finished with 13 pts.

Fillip Bulatovic had a big game with 31 pts, 9 rebs for the home team.  But Collin Uveges played terrific D on him in the late stages to help his team win and stay undefeated.

Correct, I am.  I have been quietly learning from you over the years, my friend!

Usee, I'm an expert too . . . of a sort.  :)   I've been watching IWU basketball for six decades, since the days of Tommy Gramkow, Fred Evans and Sheldon Thompson, so I know a good, deep IWU team when I see one.  Plus I accept Q's expertise and judgement, though not always agreeing with him.  And, I'm sure Ypsi will back me up too . . . what more could one ask for??   :)   LOL.

Seriously, yes, I wish this team had more games under its belt, but they are a really good squad, with great depth.  Most will be back next season, so let's hope we can have a full, normal season and an NCAA tournament to really test out the assessment Q has made, that I have concurred with.  This time, I think Q has it right.

I will attest to Mark's (IWU70) expertise.  Afterall, he was one of the guys who taunted Illinois State (then heading for D1) with a chicken (calling it the 'Redbird') as we beat ISU in the last ever meeting of the two schools (they refused to continue the c. 100-year rivalry, since we "would no longer be competitive") - thus leaving us forever with a winning record against the state school one mile up U.S. 51!  Tommy Gramkow won the game with a buzzer-beating shot - and could have been overwhelmingly elected mayor of Bloomington that night!

The play by play call on that final shot is just as legendary as the shot itself.

Schedule change...

https://www.iwusports.com/news/2021/2/15/mens-basketball-mens-hoops-tweaks-schedule-will-travel-to-millikin-tuesday.aspx

Instead of IWU and Millikin playing in Bloomington tomorrow and in Decatur a week from tomorrow, they will play in Decatur tomorrow and in Bloomington Thursday.

I assume this frees IWU up to try to schedule a game or two later this week.

It was a two-point game at 59-57 going into the stretch run, but the Pios ripped a 10-0 run to upend the hosts.
