Greg, there's still Saturday night's conference championship.  You may get your soccer fix yet.  The possibility of seeing the Vikings hoist the trophy has to kindle a little of the Brazilian in you, doesn't it?  C'mon now.

Yip-see, the Wesleyan victory over Wheaton was well-deserved, but somewhat of a fluke.  Wesleyan men haven't been too good this season, but they did a great job against Wheaton that week.  The Wesleyan women are the real powerhouse, currently nationally ranked and having yet another great season.

North Park has become the team to beat this season for the men.  They've some real quality players that can hurt you.  I don't have high hopes should Wheaton have to face them yet again in the CCIW finals.

See?  I got my name back because of you...

Welcome back, Hiker Jim!

The CCIW pulled off quite a coup with IWU #1 in men's, and Millikin #1 in women's preseason polls!  Anyone recall if that has ever happened before?  (And, if it did, how did they finish?)  I suspect that "we have gone where no one has gone before", to paraphrase Star Trek!

Pat Coleman

We do link all six previous years of D3hoops.com Top 25 polls. You have an uncanny way of asking questions that you could simply look up the answer to yourself. What kind of teacher are you?

I'm half-smiling.  :-\

Anyway, not only have two teams from the same league been named preseason No. 1 before, but two teams from the same school have.

It looks like the IWU-U of I game is sold out.  Other than Stub Hub, or EBay, does anyone have any ideas of websites you could get tickets?  There's not much out there.

Titanfan, U. of Illinois single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday 11/1) morning at 9:00am...

Based on availability, single game tickets will go on sale Nov. 1, 2005 at 9 a.m. You may purchase tickets either in person, on-line at www.fightingillini.com or by phone at 1-866-ILLINI-1.

The tickets on Stubhub.com have been disappearing very quickly.  I believe that is almost all Titan fans, as there are plenty of tickets available for the other Illini exhibition (vs Quincy) and other early season games...

There is some discussion of the IWU/Illini Exhibition on Illiniboard.com.

See topic "Illini vs Illinois Wesleyan (this Thursday)"

What a great experience that is going to be for the Titan fans and players.

On the IU-IWU game I suggest you contact season ticket holders for tickets, students or adults. Since the AH is sold out for the Illini season, thatis the only way to get tickets. There will be scalpers outside the AH Thursday, but if you know any students at the U of I, they might be able to hook you up with tickets beforehand.

The AH was half empty for the Orange and Blue scrimmage the other night, because most of the season ticket holders took a pass but did not turn in tickets for resale.

Thanks for the replies everybody.  I actually have a friend who is a U of I alum that got an email that said this game was already sold out.  I'm not sure exactly what that means (do they hold tickets for day of game, perhaps?)  Regardless, being from Chicago, I'm trying to decide if I should drive to Champaign and hope to scalp!

IWU DC

Is there an in game update page this year?  i dont see a link to one now....will there be one added once the games begin?

IWU defeated Blackburn 97-63 in the two varsity halves this evening.  Scoring was...

Zach Freeman 20
Keelan Amelianovich 17
Adam Dauksas 17
Chris Jones 14
Jason Fisher 12
Steve Schweer 4
Mike McGraw 5
Darius Gant 3
Andrew Freeman  3
Matt Arnold 2

Blackburn hit a 3 to start the 1st Half, but quickly it was 23-7 Titans and never a contest after that.  IWU just had way too much size and athleticism for the Beavers.

Always hard to learn a heck of a lot from these scrimmages, but I will say that IWU's "big 3" of Amelianovich, Dauksas, and Freeman really looked good.  There is a pretty good chance Zach Freeman will lead this Titan team in scoring and if two All Americans are your 2nd and 3rd leading scorers, you've gotta be pretty good.

It's on to Assembly Hall...

It seems like the Illini fans on that board know what they are in for.  I didn't realize the scores from last year's scrimmages.  I think its a realistic goal for IWU to be within 20.  This Illinois team is not as good as last year's and they are still trying to learn how to play together and IWU is probably better than either of the D-II squads that Illinois played last year.  I think 20 points would be a good showing and 15 would be excellent. (Although, I'm holding out false hope for an upset.)

Q,

Can i assume from the scoreline that Fisher will be starting at the 2 for the Titans this year?

Good luck to IWU against the Illini....should be able to earn some respect by making it competitive.
