What is the latest on the CCIW/MWC merger--I suspect that the CCIW folks would be happy to get some good competition in their conference.

I had heard that Carthage, IWU, North Park, Augustana and North Central were joining the MWC and that the MWC would do a North/South divisions with a champion from each.

Seems like a good idea.  :)

Yeah, because the MWC has so many more men's basketball national championships than the CCIW members do! lol.  ;D  I think I remember the #3 CCIW team beat the #1 and #2 MWC teams this year, but I digress.  Good one, T2K!  :P

There's no way IWU would leave the CCIW for the Midwest.  Dennie Bridges laughed when the earlier post s  on that possibility were mentioned to him.  It makes no sense geographically or athleticly.  I'll leave open the possibility for arguments on  the educational aspects.

Even legitimizing this subject by talking about it is a waste.

Am I the only one here that can claim to have been to Jamestown College?!

Yes, it is North of nowhere and a bit West of somewhere...but actually is known for its unusually low tuition cost.

Like most schools in North Dakota, it is indeed an NAIA program.  Of the 9 or 10 schools with athletic programs, only UND and NDSU are NCAA programs.  NDSU is going D1 (and defeated Wisconsin in hoops this year) and UND is D2 except for hockey.

Mr. Ypsi

HJ,

I have also been to Jamestown - afterall, it is only 10 miles from Ypsilanti (ND)!

I've now been to Ypsi 3 times (and therefore to Jamestown, since Ypsi has no motels) - I figure I have now been face-to-face with more than half the population.

By the standards of SE ND (flat, dry - you can see forever, except what the hell is there to see?) Jamestown College is very attractive.  But note the qualifications!

From the bluff overlooking Ypsilanti, ND, you can see the grain silos of Adrian and Grand Rapids, ND - but is that a real achievement?!

Despite this post, I am actually curiously fond of Jamestown, ND!! ;)

If you're referring to Titan2000's posts regarding the CCIW/MWC merger, he's been saying that for months.

Actually, the river valley at Jamestown creates quite a pleasant topography.  And, if you really think the terrain flat, get out of the car and bike or hike the area.

I can't say I'm attracted to the giant concrete buffalo (bison) near the I-94 Jamestown visitor center, but the Carlson center helps countless disadvanted youth--now and over the years.

A final note--the commencement speaker at my high school graduation (Riverdale ND) in 1955 was then president of Jamestown College.  How many of you folks remember the high school commencement speaker at your graduation?

I just repeat what I heard--I didn't start this.   Roop heard the same basic rumour.  I think its a good idea.

So, e-prof, are you saying you were born in the great state of North Dakota?

No, I didn't say that at all.  Between birth and high school graduation are a number of years, more for some folks, less for others.
