Could just be a bet on himself, $35k for a scholarship is cheaper than $100k in tuition.

I certainly remember Yulander Wells, although it's been years since his name's come up in this room.

Congratulations to him on his career progression.

NPU RECRUIT

6'2" SG Elias Morris from St. Rita is committed to North Park.
I hear Mr. Morris also engages in competition on the "pitch."
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

I'm sure he'll be basketball-only at North Park.

At any rate, I've been waiting for NPU to start getting St. Rita players, now that Roshawn Russell has added serving as the head coach of the Mustangs to his duties as the school's AD.

I thought maybe the fact that he also plays on the quote-unquote pitch meant he was also joining the North Park club cricket team...

That was my thought, too. If it's an accurate assumption I sure hope it works out for him, otherwise it's an expensive bet to lose.

You also wonder, for a school so new, if they're really charging everyone $35k right now.  It might end up being as really good deal if it helps them sell the program later.

Spot on, old bean! The dab hands down yonder aver that Morris is quite the brilliant all-rounder, as well as a keen square leg in a pinch.

Ignoring the fact that cricket is not an indoor venture, I am envisioning the Park somehow figuring out a way to shoehorn an oval onto the stage at the Crackerbox.

But if it works out we could have the Western Vikings and the Wicket Vikings...

Indoor cricket? That seems like a very strange way to imagine the game being played, since a cricket ground is typically about 150 yards by 167 yards. Aside from renting out McCormick Place or clearing out an entire floor of the Merchandise Mart, I can't think of any way to host indoor cricket in the city of Chicago.

If cricket ever did become a thing at North Park -- and I suppose that it's always conceivable that it could become a club sport, should the NPU international student population gain an influx of students from Commonwealth countries -- then the school would be in much better shape to host matches than would most other CCIW schools, as there's a cricket ground less than three miles from campus in Warren Park.

It may be time to watch some Indian Premier League games as cricket will be here before you know it.  Not only international students, but the kids of international students.

Luke Anthony***(Summa CL), Nyameye Adom*(CL), and Gavin Hawkins all marched and graduated this morning in a cold and rainy commencement on McCully Field.  Nice work gentleman.
