Several people supposedly in the know have been rather tight lipped, but digging a little deeper reveals that the previously referred to 3rd "alternative" unis may actually be just the Cardinals 2nd set of unis rather than the 3rd and may, in fact, be the Cards new home unis with the traditional home white unis being cast away, not to be worn again. With finances being what they are at many D3 institutions, paying for two new sets of unis instead of three certainly makes sense from a budgetary standpoint.

As long as they don't accidentally leave them in Bloomington while trekking to an away game, I'm sure they'll be great!  ::)

My favorite quote from that memorable evening will always be from the anonymous IWU fan I overheard telling his buddy, "Something always happens whenever we play at North Park," as if North Park was somehow responsible for the Titans' highly unusual and unwise policy of putting all of the team uniforms in one bag, or for the Titans then leaving that particular bag behind in Bloomington while the team traveled to Chicago.

The lone afternoon game is in the books: Carthage defeated Rose-Hulman, 75-68, at Tarble. A.J. Johnson scored 21 points, Anutan Nesbitt had 13 and 6, Anthony Bernero had 12 and 6, and Filip Bulatovic added 10 points.

Final from Fondue Lack:

North Park 85
Marian 64

Marquise Jackson: 40 pts (18-25 FG), 6 rebs, 5:1 a:to, 3 stls
Kolden Vanlandingham: 18 pts (5-6 trey), 6 rebs, 3 stls
Karl Polk: 8 rebs
Jalen Boyd: 8 rebs
Jordan Boyd: 6 rebs

It took the Vikings well into the second half before they finally put away the pesky Sabres up north this evening, but it was really just a matter of time. Marquise Jackson put on his D2 shoes tonight, that's for sure. He must've looked like a baby-blue blur to the Marian players out on the floor, as he became the eleventh player in Vikings history to score 40 (Michael Harper did it twice).

I watched the last four minute of Benedictine's win over North Central in the airplane hangar this evening. Exciting finish, but, boy, talk about two teams that kept trying to give the game away to their opponent. I think the head coaches must've aged five years apiece tonight watching their respective teams try to do something right in crunch time.

That's November basketball for you, I guess.

UW-Platteville knocked off Augustana, 81-73, up across the border in the Lead City. Daniel Carr had a "quiet" 14 and 12, and was joined in double figures in the losing cause by Tyler Knuth's 13, Chase Larson's 12, and ten apiece from Colton Gillingham and Evan Ambrose.

Concordia (IL) bested Carroll up at Van Male this evening by a score of 73-67. The Pioneers were paced by Kobe Simpson's 19 and 6, while Justin Gruber chimed in with 13 and Paradisio Dante had an 11 and 9 night.

Elmhurst cruised to an 88-72 victory at Manchester. Ocean Johnson paced EU with 18 points, while John Ittounas contributed 15 and 6, Wesley Hooker chipped in a baker's dozen, and Myles Thomas scored 11. Reigning POW Jonathan Zapinski had an off night offensively (1-5 for two points), but he led the way on the glass with 11 boards for the 'jays.

Wash U topped Millikin, 71-55, in the Gateway City. J.T. Welch was the hero in the lost cause for the Big Blue with 18 points, The only other Decaturite in double figures was Cole Laurence, who fouled out with 10 points.

I'll let the Wheaton and NCC gentlemen post the final scores for their respective teams.

Wheaton 93 Lake Forest 64

This one was over pretty early as Wheaton went up by 10 six minutes into the game and 20 by the 13 minute mark.  Was never close after that.  The Foresters were pretty much overmatched everywhere.  Lake Forest is now 1-4 with their sole win a home victory over Benedictine by 24.

Benedictine    67
North Central 63

Matt Helwig had 26 for the Cardinals, and Ethan Helwig 24. The entire rest of the team had 13 total points.THIRTEEN!
Will someone, anyone, enter and step up please because 2 against 5 just isn't gonna get it done.  :(
NCC shot only 32% overall, and 21% from distance. BU's percentages were 48% and 59%, and they adroitly used their physicality to out rebound their hosts by 12.
The Cards did commit only 11 TOs compared to BU's 20, but that wasn't enough to outweigh their poor shooting, a lack of scoring by anyone not named Helwig, and being dominated on the boards.

* And thanks to Professor Sager for the promotion to gentleman.  ;)

So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

This one seemed like it was over with maybe two or three minutes left after a pair of Jeff Kratz threes sandwiched a Cullen Cosme layup gave the Eagles a seven point lead and the Cardinals struggled to respond. But like Greg said, Benedictine did their darnedest to give the game back, sending the Cardinals to the line six times in the final 80 seconds (the Cardinals made five of them), committing some dumb turnovers including an offensive foul with 25 seconds left and a two point lead, but NCC just couldn't get over the hump, including the Eagles getting a huge jump ball with nine ticks left. Cosme iced the game with a pair of freebies with about 5 seconds left, bringing their game total to 11-23 at the stripe.

Matt Helwig: 26 pts, 4 reb
Ethan Helwig: 24 pts, 6 reb

Cullen Cosme: 18 pts, 8 reb
Andrew Stokes: 15 pts

I had a chance to watch a bit of the game last night.  Marquise makes me think he's NPU's version of Dee Brown.  Very quick. lots of energy and a great spark plug.  Is this is final year of eligibility, or does he have a covid year remaining still?

No, this is his Covid year. He's a fifth-year senior. He spent two years at South Georgia State, a juco in his native state, and then two years at Lewis.

Ittounas has played very well so far. I've been impressed with how quickly he has made an impact.

I've never dwelled too much on individual stats, but this one caught me by surprise. Zapinski already has 18 blocks on the season and 98 for his Elmhurst career, which puts him 3rd on Elmhurst's all-time blocks leaders, behind Brent Ruch (109) and Will Nixon (136).

Happy Thanksgiving gang! Thankful for the support I've felt since the loss of my wife. Rivalries and sports are fun, but love being part of the d3 community!

My parents and I went to the Wheaton-Lake Forest game on Monday. Shout out to the facilities coordinator at Lake Forest. My Moms in a wheelchair and he helped us find a good spot to be where we could see the whole court and the players and her remained safe (ie they weren't going to crash into her going after a loose ball. He even brought chairs over so my Dad and I could sit by her.

Game went about as expected. Wheaton looked much quicker in person than online. Pretty good distribution offensively and sound defense, especially in the first half.

The team thanked us for coming as they exited and my Dad was thrilled about his fist bump from
Tyson Cruikshank, his favorite player.

Watched the stream of the Carroll game vs Colorado College from Colorado Springs. The Pios lead all the way and won 85-77.  Played better tonight to move to 2-4. Play the winner of Whitworth (WA) and Carleton (MN) tomorrow in the tournament championship.  Pretty balanced minutes and scoring. Pointing in the right direction I think.
