Have only seen two recruits announced publicly for Carroll so far:

Lucas Parker, 6-4 Guerin Catholic Carmel, IN  (know nothing about him)
Dennis Estepp, 6-1 Grayslake Central Grayslake, IL (3rd Team IBCA 3A All-State)

As far as I know, everyone else from last year's team for Carroll will be back next year, except graduating players Ethan Balinao and Justin Gruber.

The Pios won 3 of their last 5 (lost in overtime to NCC at home and at Wheaton) CCIW games and were playing much better by the end of the season, hopefully the continuity helps them get off to a better start next year.

Agree. They had a very strong finish to the season last year.

Wheaton schedule: Non cons vs BenU, vs Lake Forest, vs Pfund Classic (Alma, Heidelberg, Piedmont), at Calvin, at Chicago, and at Wooster Tournament.

That's eight. Still room for one more.

Since last post a game at Transylvania has been added Thanksgiving Saturday. Long six hour trip for a single game.

All nine games in now.

Greg, are the Vuckovics considered to have used a year of eligibility?

It amuses me that all the transfers are "rising" (class). Not sure why, but I guess it was important to note that.

It's not just a transfer thing. The term "rising" is used for any student-athlete who has completed his or her season and is awaiting the next one.

I think so, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to ask Sean about that.

LOL. Thanks for the lesson, Greg. I was reading that like you thought everyone was some rising star. (goes back to his fantasy league board where he belongs).  ::) :P

Rising can be synonymous with incoming (adjective for a non-athlete is also ubiquitous) as in:  my money-sucking kid is a rising freshman at UC-Santa Cruz.
Once a metalhead, always a metalhead.  Matthew 5:13.

Greek Tragedy

That sounds ridiculous. Why say, "rising"? Was someone offended by the word, "incoming"? I mean, some say you can't say, "freshman" anymore, rather using "first year." Anyway, my apologies for not knowing what "rising" meant.

The term rising is relatively knew so unless you graduated in the last 10-12 years or so (or had college-aged kids graduate in that range), you should be forgiven.

I have never heard the term rising to describe an incoming freshman to be honest.

IMHO, incoming works for someone new to the school, since it carries a connotation of arrival or entry.  For someone who is already at said school, rising works well when the student is "between grades"

Agreed ... although, in Mark's defense, "rising" as applied to an 18-year-old about to enter college for the first time could be argued to be an accurate description of the traditional progression from high-school senior to college freshman. In other words, it's an academic continuity thing -- although I'd still be more inclined to refer to the class of 2027 as "incoming freshmen" for the reason you stated.
