Any word on what D1 job he will be taking?

Greek Tragedy

Wow. The wheels really fell off at NPU. They went a million years without an NCAA tournament appearance and then they make the Sweet 16 two seasons ago. New coach, who won National Coach of the Year, looked like a nice foundation for years to come. Their downfall this past season was shocking to me, at least. VanLandingham enters the portal and now the coach bolts. Are they headed back to the dark ages??

NPU is announcing a new coach today it seems.

Hard to think it won't be Edwind McGhee?

I was super disappointed to see Sean Smith left, but I'm actually pretty excited about Edwind McGhee stepping in to the role.  I don't know him personally at all, but seeing the way he's often been included in announcements by recruits on social media, he's clearly doing something right, gaining trust and getting guys bought in.

I can't blame Coach Smith at all for taking a D1 role, and I can't blame Kolden for seeing what schools might be interested in someone who has been as successful as he has the last couple years.

I don't see this so much as wheels coming off, maybe just a little flat tire that needs to be changed.

Coach Smith caught lightning in his first year.  His team excelled at defense and 3pt shooting.  Both facets visibly declined this past season.  I know I am old...remembering when Bosko would bark offensive plays...then Brenegan used placards for a brief time...Smith does not control.  He lets the players play, and substitutes like all other coaches.  Smith knows D much better.

Walked into work this morning and did a double take when I saw the floor of King Arena on the front page of the Daily Herald sports section. They have a good article on Mike Schauer today.
