They might be better off selling some of the violins......................

I can't imagine a true musician using a school-bought instrument, unless it was an organ, or a piano. But maybe that's just me?  ??? A musical instrument is way to personal to the individual.

ps:  the dude at NC has proven he can coach (and that Benji could not)  he has not proven that he can recruit.......if they do not get some new guards, they will disappoint next year

Hello gentlemen!  I have been silent on d3 since NCC's departure from tournament.  However, LU Nut you know not what you speak.  I would never say Benjy couldn't coach.  He's had several DI assistant jobs over his career.  Someone thinks he can coach.  Besides, he is 1-0 against your Beloved John Tharp with an 84-80 victory over the vikings back in '03.  The guards that are graduating this year were only sophmores at the time.

At any rate,  if NCC really cares about its baskeball it has to step to the plate and do whatever it takes to keep Raridon in naperville.  The question is will that even be enough???  I certainly hope so.  I truly appreciate what he has been able to accomplish in such a short time.  SO IF PRESIDENT WILDE, VICE-PRESIDENT'S HAMEN AND SPENCER, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR MILLER, AND ALL OF THE ALUMNI NATION ARE READING THIS POST.  IT'S TIME TO STEP UP!!!!

Presidents, AD's, and coaches aren't reading any posts.  They don't waste time sifting through all of this gossip, rumors, and garbage that we all post up.   ;D

TBF, I must've missed the post that announced that Gordon College fired CCIW Chat regular Joe Hakes from his AD job.

(My condolences, Joe. But look at the bright side -- now you have the chance to live out your dream and become an usher at Fenway.  ;))

CCIW coaches read this room. I'm not saying that all of them do, because I know for a fact that some don't. And I don't know how consistently those that do read it keep up with it. But rest assured that a number of them (including head coaches as well as assistants) do read this.

Quote from: diehardfan on May 01, 2006, 12:12:41 PMBecause I didn't know that? I'm really more in the "who freeking cares category, but I voted for Baines because I don't want Tharp to get it *makes innocent face*, and I liked how sweet the Elmhurst fans were).

I'm sure that the Bluejays fans who read this room are a bit nonplussed at being referred to as "sweet". In the macho world of men's athletics I think that what you have done by calling them that can best be described as "killing them with kindness."  :D

I wouldn't say that I'm in that same "who freaking cares?" category as you, April, but it's not as though my interest in the Illinois Wesleyan coaching saga is all that keen. It interests me as a CCIW matter, but as always my primary focus is upon the Park rather than upon any of NPU's seven conference rivals. I just wanted to be fair to Ron Rose. I was going to say something about Rose's playing career being before your time, but, heck, for that matter John Baines was before your time as well. I have to keep remembering that most of us who post here have repeatedly lapped you around Father Time's track.  ;)

Reid Barringer has the chance to be an excellent CCIW player. But nobody's a sure thing, regardless of how stellar a high school career he had. And not everyone is ready to excel in this league as a freshman, including players who later go on to be strong CCIW players in subsequent seasons.

Quote from: dennis_prikkel on May 02, 2006, 09:29:14 AMOr maybe its that old guy with the long white beard who used to stand under the basket with a Big Blue lettermen's sweather from 1915.

We used to call that guy "the mayor of Decatur". The assumption was that the only person who would've been willing to take that job was someone well into his dotage.

Greg,

It's funny that I read that post and didn't even think of myself.  This site becomes a great thermometer of people's interests and ideas of what is going on.  While many of the posters on this board speak with some knowledge, I get a kick out of the misperceptions that many folks have about a variety of things.

It always reminds me that we (AD's, etc.) need to do a better job of communicating what is going on.

I agree. In the hands of some posters, this thermometer is not an oral one.  :D

Note my lack of commitment by using the word more. I was interested enough in the topic to make the poll, wasn't I?

I didn't really start following basketball till my junior year of college, or 2001-2002. In a manner of speaking, there is hardly anyone who isn't before my time!  :P

I'm not so sure about the lapping thing though, you just got a head start. Eventually I'll catch up!  :D ;)

nice to know our audience includes such high powered basketball aficionados.  that makes me want to actually take some of these comments seriously knowing they are from individuals on the inside of programs.
also, i'm growing ever leery of typos that I have employed several proofreaders to ensure the accuracy of these comments thus preventing future ridicule.  come on, giving people a hard time for spelling names wrong or using incorrect grammer, i'd say if we know what one is writing leave them be.  (any errors done by yours truly are intentional, for those scoring at home).
and just to let everyone know, i'm secure enough to be have my (and fellow EC fans) comments called sweet, so those are greatly appreciated.

just wondering, but anyone know of any books written about d3 hoops (books on coaches excluded)?

oldman again-It's hard to think that you are a big blue fan because I think that Tim Littrell is doing a great job here at Millikin.  He is currently on track for one of the best recruiting classes at Millikin in recent history.  This includes Robert Rexroade-Chose Millikin over North Central...Zach Ott who chose Millikin over Elmhurst and IWU...Robert Burton who chose Millikin over Lewis...and Heath Houser, one of the best athletes in Central Illinois...also, I hear that Millikin is on the verge of a few more big name recruits...I think that our Big Blue have a chance to get something going next year bringing those guys in to go along with sophomores Drew Gensler, Mitch Ade, and Ray Kissing who will be working with next year's seniors Bryon Graven, Mike Gavic, and Korte Long.  Millikin lost many close games last year and I predict will be a contender the next few years...GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
