There is no official thing as a Division III
Academic All-America, at least in basketball.  The categories are as the NCAA used to be:  University Division and College Division. College Division includes everything but NCAA I, including NAIA I and II and the
Christian College Assn., or whatever else it may be called.  So Sikma would be a College Division selection because he played for a school that was in the College Division then (NAIA).  Al Black and Greg Yess also played when IWU held dual membership but had not yet gone NCAA III in basketball--Ancient Titan

Correctingtitan, it has been established that on these boards Jack Sikma does not count towards anything having to do with D-III, ask Mr. Yspibonney.

Yeah...I knew the answer already being an Augustana graduate...I just wanted to make sure Titan2000 saw that the CCIW excels at sports and academics...just having a little fun

Knightstalker,
When the question was asked it pertained to the quamtity of academic all americans. The question has been answered.

What does Sikma count toward, no man's land, purgatory?

Knightstalker,

You have been trumped by a technicality (or by reality, take your pick!) - the question was what d3 school has the most Academic All-Americans.  IWU is (now) a d3 school.  Jack Sikma (an IWU grad) was an Academic All-American (albeit, not in d3 at the time).

Several other Academic All-America honors for IWU also preceded their conversion to full-time d3 status, so don't pick exclusively on my boy Jack! ;)

So between innings of the Cleveland Professional Baseball Club broadcast (vs. the Mariners), I switch over to the 11th inning of the Cubs/Padres joint shutout, and I'm just in time to hear Len Kaspar wish a happy 26th birthday to the Cubs' Coordinator for Special Events and Entertainment, who just happens to be Jim Oboikowitch.  How about that--a D3Hoops and CCIW Chat "Brush With Greatness" moment!

Happy birthday, Jim!  :)

How do CCIW teams rank in the number of acadewmic All Americans in all sports?

1) Did you know what the N on the side of the Huskers helmet stands for ?

Knowledge (rimshot)

2) If Nebraska is first, that is a list I don't want to be on.  :D

Brian Larson, a 6-1 guard from Pleasant Valley (IA) has committed to Augie. He was a 4A (big school) First Team All-State selection this year. His PV team went 24-2 and finished second in the state tournament.

Dennis,

Are they STILL not involved in the program, or were they just not involved in the past?

Because, with the track record of SID's you mentioned at Augie and IWU, it would make sense why they were on this list.  On the other hand, if the other CCIW schools have only been involved since, say, 1990 (arbitrary number, used for comparison) they would have needed to average about 4.5 Academic- All Americans per year to show up on this list.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Joel Kolmodin an Academic All-American?  It's entirely possible that I am NOT remembering correctly, but...
