If you go here to listen to Elia's meltdown, you should also listen to the excerpt from Earl Weaver's radio show (as long as profanity does not offend you).  I don't think this tape ever actually made it on the air.  His answer to a woman who wants to know when to plant tomatos is priceless.  A player evaluation from Weaver -
"Terry Crowley's lucky's he's in f*****g baseball, for Christ's sake. He was released by the Cincinnati Reds, he was released by the f*****n' g*****n Atlanta Braves."

A Bobby Knight tirade is also on the same page.

Does everyone on this board have the summer off ?

How can you be here all day and night?

The CCIW must prepare you to have more time than the average fan.

Have you peeked behind the curtain Titan2000?  Graduates of a CCIW school hire people who went to schools like UW-Oshkosh.  They break the work up into small pieces that the UWO grads and their compatriots can understand and cope with.  For a couple of hours a day, they check to make sure the work is being done and assign new tasks.  Then it is off to the golf course by noon.

At the golf course, they suck up to their bosses who went to school at places like the University of Chicago.  Now that you understand how the world works, GET BACK TO WORK!!!!

Interesting theory. And how many times does this theory require NPU to have to beat Wheaton in a row on your own soccer pitch before you folks take notice of the Park? I guess it has to be more than three.  ;)

Greg, I think she has reinforced the perception that Wheaton's prospective students have generally been sheltered and, upon arrival, become isolated.

It is just an innate ability.  Some people are just lucky.  Some advice - don't go shooting off in this room if you cannot handle return fire.

I do not think that Robert Maynard Hutchins would have approved of either of those courses.

Wrong. We Parkers are all well aware of our beloved alma mater's small stature within the greater scheme of American higher education. We are reminded of it every day here on the streets of the city that NPU calls home, where telling someone that you are a graduate of North Park University will most likely engender either a "Where's that?" or a blank stare. And the off chance that the questioner will be aware of NPU's existence decreases exponentially the further removed he or she is from Chicago.

The easiest way to get a Parker riled up is to disseminate disinformation about our school. Dennis and Mark and I will readily agree with you that plenty of people, including a lot of Wheaties, are either ignorant of North Park's existence or take no notice of it if they are aware of it. But Joe Bean is most certainly not one of them. You speak with forked tongue when you insist, even in jest, that Wheaton was simply caught napping by the Vikings on the soccer pitch during their three meetings at East McCully Field over the past two autumns.

(OK, technically you're disseminating disinformation about your fellow Wheaties, rather than about NPU. So sue me. :D)

Our school may be tiny and insignificant, but I'm pretty sure that it has become the Great White Whale of Joe Bean's recurring nightmares. ;D

Awwwwww, feeling really, really, REALLY guilty. :-[ That's it I forfeit to the 3-1 odds, and my overactive conscience.  :-X ;)

It's not so much that I find North Park irrelevant, as that I find soccer irrelevant.  :D
