Hoops Fan: Where was I? ???  I totally never would have disputed that. I thought the guy had potential to be a D3 star just from watching him play garbage minutes as a frosh... are you sure I didn't come to your defense?

Watching how much he improved in Salem last year (even just between his jr and sr years) was unreal. Everyone around me (granted I was in the IWU section, but I was not sitting near any IWU fans) just was in awe of the guy... every time he swished a shot people made comments about how amazing he is. And since he scored a whole lot, it was like, non-stop comments all game.

I'm sure it must be hard for Keelan living in a country where he's still learning the language (I'm sure they didn't teach him basketball terms in hs or college classes!) but he's an extremely hardworking guy, and with his talent on top of that... well, I totally agree that he really has a shot at something, and we all wish him the best! :)

Here is a pic of Amelianovich as a senior in high school...

And a photo from this year...

There are three puberty stages (this is my theory).  The first one is.......well, we all know.  The second one is when a young man, like Keelan, starts to "fill out" muscle wise.  It usually happens around 18, 19, or 20, sometimes even later.  So if they are lifting weights, that's when you'll see a guy get big and strong.  The third one is..........it sucks, it has something to do with abnormal growth in various hairs on your body, and a few other things that I'm not enjoying right now.  That happens when you're in your 30's.
Soooooo, even if we/you tried to get back in the weight room, we're most likely not going to get to looking like Keelan or anything close.  :P  >:(  ???

That was just an obviously superfluous post in your ever-increasingly successful attempt to catch up to me in number of posts.  You went to Wheaton, you should be smart enough to see: 1) I quoted Q and therefore you could have reasonably deduced that it was he to which I was referring and 2) that it was not a serious post that required a response.

I will now take a step back and slowly shake my head in shame.

He shoots it as well as any small college player I've ever seen, and he has the big 6-6 frame.

So now it comes out?  Where were you in April when I was using those same points to say it wouldn't be far-fetched for an NBA team to take a flyer on the guy?  I got absolutely destroyed in here on that.

Let's not put words in Bob's mouth. He said that Amelianovich "has a chance to do some big things professionally" if things go his way. That's not the same thing as saying that Amelianovich is an NBA prospect, and I didn't get the impression at all that Bob was implying that he was. There are all kinds of different pro leagues around the world, filling several different strata in terms of talent level, short of the NBA.

I understand that.  I never said he was an NBA prospect.  I just said it wouldn't be far-fetched for an NBA team to take a chance on him, given the shooting ability and size that he has.  I just mentioned NBA because at the time he had participated in that tryout.

I wasn't implying Bob thought he would make the NBA someday, I was just affirming that Keelan has many of the elements to develop into a solid professional ballplayer.  Where that happens, to me, is irrelevent.

:D No, I know your post was to Bob... however, I was seriously asking where I was... I don't get the idea that "everyone was attacking you" cause I assumed if I had seem that I would have came to your denfese... it was a serious post.  :P

I could pass you in posts number, but I will never have your sense of humor and charm.  :D

Yes, I think there is a tremendous gap between the league Keelan is in and the top European leagues...and probably an even bigger gap between the top European leagues and the NBA.  There are a ton of really good former American D1 players in Europe who have never gotten an NBA shot.  So, I see Keelan's ceiling as a good player in a good European league.  His skill set, size, and game really seems to be a good fit for the style of play over there.

(Knocking on wood) Everything seems to be holding in place lately.  January will be two years since the nasty achilles rupture...I am back to running 4 miles 5 times a week and all that stuff.  Generally don't feel the injury at all.  Playing hoops is still a little scary though.

So yes, I will try my best to avoid any tearing!

Where is Bob?

Lots of work travel this summer/fall, old friend.  Just got back from State Farm Agency Convention -- 8 days in Las Vegas.  While I always have a good time in Las Vegas, 8 days is just not good for a person mentally, physically, or financially.
