Big game for Carthage today at Lawrence. From what I remember last year they really shot the 3  well. I'm sure they are still a very good shooting team. Carthage must get a hand in the shooter's face. If not, could be a long day for Carthage.

Also, in the Kenosha News today it said Bosko has never coached a game up at Lawrence.

Anyone know anything else about the game today?

I said something like that when Point went into the Alex and beat Lawrence this year.  "All is quiet on the Lawrence [IWU] front!" lol  ;)

This game wasn't pretty, but Chicago pulled it out with a strong finish.  IWU once again shot itself in the foot with careless turnovers.  Chicago took 12 more shots from the field than the Titans -- just no way you are going to beat a good team with that FG disparity.

The Maroons are a better overall team than IWU right now.  They're a veteran team that has played together for a few years now -- it is clear they have good chemistry, the players all know their roles, etc.  As the season progresses, IWU can definitely become as good, or better than, Chicago, but the Titans have a long way to go to get there.

Having seen Wash U and Chicago, it's close, but I think Wash U is the better team.  They're more balanced with Ruths in the low post to go along with a good perimeter game.  Chicago is going to have a few nights where they are not making their 3's and will struggle.

With Wash U, Chicago, Brandeis, and NYU, and Rochester, the UAA is a great league this year -- probably right there with the CCIW.

It sounds like Dain Swetalla will be out for today's game with Wartburg and Wednesday's game against Rockford. Hopefully, he'll be able to go in the showdown at Stevens Point on the 30th. Obviously, that means more playing time for Rukavina and Caricato.

Should be a good matchup between EC and Whitewater today.  A few notes from yesterdays games.
Whitewater could have beat Grinnell by 50, they were just head and shoulders better than the fun-n-run team from Iowa.  After watching Grinnell for about a minute, I really wanted them to be run out of the gym.  I have to hand it to Coach Arseneault and his system because it is unique, unfortunately, its hard to win many shootouts if you don't have any spectacular shooters.  Grotberg, (36ppg) did not impress me at all, then again he did go 3-20 from the field.
Funny thing was after the game, many athletes from other sports who play pickup ball were convinced they could play in Aserneault's system.  I would tend to agree.  Be physically fit, a respectable (or not) outside jumper and the ability to run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
I really feel for Keith Chamberlain, a 6-8 center for Grinnell, he was being worked and just was asked to run up and down the court way, way too much.  His game is not suited for this style and being from Chicago, I wonder what brought him to Grinnell.
This could have been a breakout game for Dustin Mitchell (#50), he is a 6-9 freshman who looked very nimble around the basket and was able to get up and down the floor very, very well.  I'm interested in seeing if his minutes go up, or he will fall victim to the freshman playing behind solid team-leader seniors and not see much playing time.

As for the Elmhurst game, they dominated for 34 minutes, but the six minutes they didn't show up, they were awful.  31-17, six min left in the first half.  They proceed to let that lead dwindle down to 2 at the half.
I don't know what Coach Scherer said to the team during halftime, but it must have concise as the team was back on the floor with 7min to go before halftime (as opposed to usual 2:30-3min).

After another sluggish 2min at the start of the 2nd half, they decided to feed the ball into Ruch and Michael every possession, and though the big men struggled to get their shots to fall, they were dead set on establishing the inside game.  The result, Ruch-Michael 7-20 from the floor, but the interior shots led to 12 offensive boards and 19 second half, second-chance points.

Ryan Burks and Brian Lee once again lit it up, combining for 30 on 10-15 (3-4 from 3pt range) from the floor.  Lee also had 7 steals and played a perfect point guard game (no turnovers).

As for the bench, Jared Hintzsche played his best game of the season and  Bacon and Aloisio were the other key contributors off the bench.  Matt Ryder has lost all confidence in his offensive game, Jay Brizzolara has lost all his playing time and Chris Childs did not play.
Robert Strzemp was in street clothes for the 7th straight game.  His status is still uncertain, but personally having every knee problem known to modern science, i'd have to say the prognosis is not good.

EC-Whitewater 4pm.  Hopefully with a win, Elmhurst will get some votes in the d3hoops top 25 poll.

Augie beat Wartburg 92-77 with Delp and Brusveen leading the scoring. As mentioned by Dansand Dain S. sat this one out.
