Quote from: AUGsportsFAN on January 14, 2007, 01:31:05 AMAfter watching the Elmhurst/Augie game on Jan 3, I have to agree Brian Lee is one of the best players in the conference this year.  It seems that wasn't just a one-game performance he had last Saturday, as from what I read played very well again tonight.  However, interesting note on how Augie couldn't contain Lee, but could contain Kent Raymond, another great player.  I guess that's the CCIW, and anything can happen any given night.

I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. From what I understand, Raymond still wasn't at 100% against Augie. Also, Lee has a better cast surrounding him than does Raymond. That's bound to make a player harder to stop.

Also, just to clear something up:

Quote from: Gregory Sager on January 15, 2007, 02:29:45 AMYou and Usee are questioning my comparative analysis of the talent levels of the two teams ... but have either of you even seen NPU this season?

No aspersion meant towards Usee, who didn't accuse me of anything but was simply interested in how I came to my conclusion about NPU and Wheaton.

??? :D

Also, I wouldn't say that NPU will be playing with "nothing to lose" on Wednesday, jaybird. That's the kind of phrase that you use for a team that's already out of the running. The Vikings may not be given much of a chance by anyone to make the CCIW tourney this season, but they certainly don't think that way. In their eyes, they have everything to lose by dropping another home game, regardless of how big a favorite Elmhurst will be on Wednesday night.

Oh, and it's the Carlson Crazies ... not the Carleton Crazies. NPU is not located in Northfield, Minnesota. ;)

Maybe they're just big fans of Augie freshman Brandon Carleton. ;D

Thanks Greg, I was formulating my "not me" response as I read this.

Thanks alsof for your explanation. It certainly explains your opinion.

also, i don't advocate using statistics to make comparison's of team talent. I said at the outset I hadn't seen NP play but I used statisitcs to set the table for the discussion.

very nice.

Greg, you're right and I would like to see North Park regain some strength and become a major player again, not just in Basketball.
Should be a good game Wednesday.  I hope Elmhurst doesn't overlook NPU in preps for Wheaton on Saturday.  Will you be at the game?

This is a cool frame-by-frame pick of a Zach Freeman dunk...

And a pretty good illustration of the way Freeman gets defended this year (4 Bluejays in the vicinity)...

Not exactly a SRO crowd at that game!  Is that really a home game?  And what's with the guy in the yellow sweater?  He looks so unimpressed that I'm guessing that'll be the cover photo for the second edition of Bridges 'A Dunk is Still Only Worth Two Points'.

I can't decide which i like better: the guy on his cell phone plugging his other ear to hear or the old couple eating popcorn at the top of the bleachers.

The lady in black is too busy yappin to even notice the impressive dunk!  Tough stretch for Albion.  The Britons played Elmhurst, NCC, and IWU in consecutive games.  That's one heck of a way to prepare for conference play!
