That Freeman dunk made the score 65-40 with 14:58 to play in a meaningless non-conference game.  How excited were people supposed to look

God, I knew IWU had the generic, older crowd, but I never would imagine they could not stand until it was time to leave!!  How bad has it become down south?

Hope to see you Sat. Q

I was at that game and I would guess that many of the people in that picture at the end of the court behind the basket were probably there for the HS tourney games to follow and weren't necessarily there for the Titans.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Has it occurred to anyone that (1) the background picture was probably slightly before the dunk occurred...as he was going up...and (2) it takes a little time to react (even more for the average age of the IWU crowd).  Not to mention that a Zac Freeman dunk isn't exactly a rare occurrence.

Also, Stat, can you tell us that Jason received a standing "O" every time he threw one down?  If it were a Jeff Gibbs type dunk, I could understand....

I will take full blame for the bickering on this board.  It all started when I made the correction on the "Soldier's Field" post.    ::)

Now that we have that cleared up, can we get back to just analyzing and cheering for one's team.  If we get huffy about this stuff, how can we solve the problems of the world.  I have made my living from college athletics for the past 28 years, and my observation is that we are taking ourselves a little too seriously when we can't get past a couple of innocent posts that don't really amount to a hill of beans.  Root hard for your team and respect the others.  That is what sportsmanship is in a nutshell and this conference deserves it.

NOW EVERYONE GO BACK TO HAVING FUN AND THAT'S AN ORDER!!!!!!! >:(

Hey hammer, good to hear from you.  Will you be in Kenosha on Saturday?

Who is Gibbs?  Did he play in the warehouse in Salem?

How are your children doing?  What are their names? What grade are they in? Are you even married?

Greenie, you never had any class and never will.

Would love to be there on Saturday, Stat, but doesn't look good with other obligations...including my three kids.

What's Jason doing these days?

Lot's of 'bad blood' in the air tonight!  Man.  All I want to know is if EC won!
Go Elmhurst!

Don't let Stat's words fool you...he's a big Titan Hammer fan...as he is a fan of anyone with Manito heritage, such as myself.

Elmhurst was down six at the half.

So close.  One of the most exciting games, start to finish, that I've seen the Vikings play in a long time.  They started out with excellent defense and held Elmhurst's big men to a handful of points.  At one point late in the first half, North Park led 30-20 and went in at the break with a 34-28 advantage.

Elmhurst came out stronger in the second half and finally went up 43-42, I believe.  They extended their lead to about 9 (again, relying on my memory, not always a good thing), but the Vikings clawed back.  It was nip-and-tuck in the last two minutes.  The Vikes were down by three with 7 seconds remaining, and Joe Capalbo's potential game-tying trey bounced off the rim.

Great heart, great effort all around by the Vikings.  In the end, however, Elmhurst's big guns (Burks, Ruch, and company) earned a hard-fought victory.

Box Score from the Carthage game:

Schlemm leads the way with 28 points and 8 boards....Walton held to 5 points looks like the main factor in the victory tonight.

Tough loss if you're a Park fan, but an enjoyable game to watch.

I'd really like to see more of Oziminski at the point with Capalbo at the 2 guard.  When they played together, the offense really seemed to move more crisply with better shot selections.

Frustrating game tonight at Park.  We lead the vast majority of the game, despite often getting hosed on calls (to be fair EC got hosed sometimes as well).  Freshman Joe Capalbo took the last shot for NP w/ a little over 6sec left as we were down 77-76.  It was from about a foot away (amazingly he got into the lane almost untouched), and rimmed out. What a terrible way to lose.  I would imagine the next time Joe gets the ball with 15 seconds left and the opportunity to hit the game winning shot, he will.

The exciting thing to me, is that had NP stepped up against Wheaton, we could easily be 4-1 in conference and atop the standings.  Not bad for a team that 2 years ago went winless in conference.
