Preseason #22, and defending UAA champ, Chicago lost 64-61 @ St. John's tonight to fall to 0-8.  Amazing.

The CCIW appears to be headed for something like an .800 non conference winning percentage this year--and could go even higher.  How does this level of success stack up historically to the CCIW or any other conference for any given season?   This seems phenomenal, even by standards of Division One power conferences.

I haven't looked up any historical comparisons for the WIAC or the NESCAC or any of the other D3 power conferences, but I can tell you that the magic number that our eight teams are shooting for this year is .750. That's the all-time highest winning percentage ever registered by the CCIW in non-conference play, set back in 2000-01. It includes D3 tournament games played against non-conference teams, so that '00-'01 figure includes the solid runs that Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage had in the tourney that season (plus the first-round win registered by Elmhurst).

The CCIW is definitely on pace to break that record, but nothing is guaranteed. It hasn't been broken yet.

Congrats to NPU freshman guard Roshawn Russell upon being named the CCIW's Player of the Week!

The Battle of Chicago/Maple Avenue takes place tonight between NCC and Benedictine University!  The Bill Warden/Tony LaScala Trophy will be on the line! During the Todd Raridon era at NCC, the cardinals are 3-1 against BU.  The lone defeat came in '04 in a one point ball game.  Game time is at 7pm at BU!  This game is always a lot of fun between the two schools! Lets hope NCC can maintain the hardware and bragging rights for another year!  :)
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

U. of Chicago will head to the Shirk Center Friday with an 0-9 record.  The Maroons lost at Carleton (MIAC) tonight, 62-61.

Unbelievable.

Not what you would expect from a Mike McGrath team but I'm pulling for them to continue their loss trend for at least one more game :o ;D

Maroons are the only team in UAA without a win.  Their  nine opponents have a combined 43-30 record; and, when you take out Auggie (6-2) and Wheaton (8-0) a combined record of 29-28

The youngsters are still learning how to win  :(

Knox misses two free throws with the game tied and 24 seconds left, North Park bleeds the clock and banks in a bad three-point shot as time expires to win.

Sometimes you need just a little luck to pull out a win and keep your conference in the hunt to beat the previous .750 milestone all time non-conference record! Thank-you NPU
