:o :oRalph,
I'm glad one of us is on the ball, I went to the NCC basketball page last night and found the game was moved to Friday.Good catch I bought our plane tickets with a departure for Thurs @ 8:30 so we would be there for the 2:00 game. ::) ::)
Wow!  An extra day in Vegas!

Sometimes the sacrifices that we must make for our teams are incredible!

Dansand,

Will there be livestats available for tonight's Augie game or is MacMurray College lacking that technology too?

A quick perusal of the MacMurray site indicates that it doesn't have LiveStats.

No, I don't think so either. No internet. I see on their schedule that they indicate home broadcasts later in the year, so needless to say, they must be using a different set up than we do. They make a cell phone adapter for our mixer, which we tried to find locally, but couldn't. I think our only other option would have been to have Chris announce directly through his cell phone, bypassing the mixer and rendering me superfluous (which I may be anyway).

Anyone know if there is anyway to listen to Elmhurst vs. Fontbonne tonight? Will there be live stats?....

Are we sure they have electricity to get the lights going, or will this game be played by candlelight with a peachbasket at either end of the court?

I just checked the local radio station - no broadcast.

No peaches in MacMurray area; but I think they nailed up some milking pails. ;)

Ok, what's your source FCNEWS????  My son lives in St. Louis, but had a final and is sick so didn't make it to the game, even though he really wanted to!  Please tell me where you have your info from.

He was at the game. I am posting this reply on his behalf as he had to leave for Tulsa immediately following the game, which Elmhurst won by 13.

Thank you!  Glad they won, but wish I could've made that trip and my son and I could've gone together!! Oh well, WRSE will be back with the next game I think & hope! Congrats Bluejays!

Elmhurst 74
Fontbonne 61

http://elmhurst.edu/~athletic/Home/M-Basket/stats/2008-2009/melm08.htm

Elmhurst opened up a lead late in the 1st half and went into the locker room up 8.  Fontbonne stormed back at the beginning of the 2nd, and with 13:44 to play in the game it was tied at 44.  The Bluejays went on an 11-2 run over the course of the next 4-5 minutues though, and that was basically the game...EC held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

Brent Ruch was a man among boys in this game.  Fontbonne just couldn't matchup.  Ruch finished with 21 points on 10-16 shooting, but this could have been about 13-16...he missed some easy ones in the 1st half.  In the 2nd, the big man was outstanding and much more aggressive.

Overall, Elmhurst did not look that great last night, but the Bluejays did play well enough in stretches to beat a good team on the road.   And they really played good defense throughout the game, forcing 23 turnovers.  The Bluejays took Fontbonne out of its offense much more than Wash U did three days before.

Brent Ruch might be the best or second best big guy in Division III (the kid at Platteville is supposed to be oustanding too) and Ryan Burks is a stud, but the Bluejays will only go as far as their guards take them this year.  PG Dustin Bainter is OK, but he's limited.  SG Zack Boyd is going to be a very good player, but I don't think that is going to be during his freshman year.  Backup PG Mike McCurdy will be a good player someday too, but for now, he's probably just a 15 minute per game reserve, as he was last night.  And the other guards who play are just role player types.  From what I saw in watching just one game, I do not think Elmhurst can win the 2009 CCIW race.  I'm just not sold on the guard play.  I see EC finishing 3rd or 4th.  We'll see - I could be wrong.

Congratulations to Mark Scherer on his 200th win...he's really done a great job at Elmhurst.

The Wash U coaching staff and most of the players attended the Elmhurst/Fontbone game last night (Wash U is literally across the street from Fontbonne).  I'd love to see that EC/Wash U game Saturday...it should be a good one.  Two very different teams - Elmhurst dominant down low with Brent Ruch and Wash U so good at the guard spots.

CCIW 50 -- all others 11.  Wow, looking good.
