as the season moves along the "where do we put Raymond discussion" might become even more pronounced when it comes to the "Most Outstanding Player" Award.

Raymond was a virtual shoo-in (I think) for the award before he got hurt - "IF" Steve Dj matches his first six game production in his final eight conference games, then Raymond, even if he comes back strong, might not be as much a shoo-in as before the injury.

Note that in the 2nd half of his rookie CCIW campaign Steve Dj slowed down a little from the torrid pace he set early in conference games.

After this week I think there will still be six teams with a legitimate shot at the league title - so that while forecasting all-conference selections at the mid-way point is fun - picking a final five for the end of the season is really tough at this point.

I see that all games in the NCAC and OAC have been postponed from tonite to tomorrow.  Any weather problems in CCIW-land?

can't speak for downstate, but the two inches we got in the northwestern suburbs, only slowed the rush hour - its been bright sunshine since mid-morning - wisconsin got spared.

I will now sport a kinder, gentler moniker to reflect a lesser offensive attitude.  It seems that I was judged less on my words and more by my handle.
This is because my recent "nudging" of a certain 8 mile south red bird poster. :)

If Raymond doesn't show up tonight in the "hangar" I still believe Wheaton can win if they make their FT's and shoot anywhere near their team 3 pt att and %.  and maintain the rest of their game.  Their turnover assist ratio in both losses was comparable to their opponents and their rebounding was also even or better if you discount the rebounds from the bricks they were laying from the line.  They played pretty good defense in both games but Elmhurst (or should I say Childs) shot the lights out at the arc.  They just need their poise and someone needs to take over at the guard position.  Panner and Jahns haven't looked comfortable all the time in that spot and Wiele needs a guy he can count on to kick it back outside when the double team comes.
Despite what my "evil twin"said All is not lost for Wheaton tonight

The NCC staff is operating under the assumption that Raymond will give it a go tonight in the hanger. So, if he plays, it won't be a surprise.  ;D

Mr. Ypsi

While there is still a lot of season ahead, I feel like the Millikin @ IWU game is almost an 'elimination game'.  The loser will be all alone in 7th, with 5 losses - it's real hard to make up ground when chasing THAT many teams.

Likely; and, for the winner - a "second chance" game to have a shot getting back into the junt for a tournament playoff spot.  I think it is a remote possible a fourth place finisher could have 7 losses more likely 6.

K Ray checks in the game and hits a jumper!

I knew he practiced this week, so there was definitely the chance. Welcome back, Mr. Raymond!

Final from Chicago:

Augie 70
NPU 48

NPU had five more field goal attempts than did Augie, and the same number of free throws, and still managed to lose by 22. Unbelievable.

Augustana at North Park first half observations

1- Augie's first five guys played with a lot more offensive confidence then their second five.

2- On those occasions when North Park used more than 25 seconds of the shot clock, Roshawn Russell was dribbling the ball for at least 20 seconds of each possession.  Not his fault.

3- no one on North Park has any idea about setting a pick to open up a teammate, that's the reason there are so few open jump shots, that's the reason North Park can't get wide open outside shots for any of their shooters.

4- North Park is last in the league in field goal defense because they fundamentally do not play good man to man defense.

5- NPU sophomore center Phil Sch..... has the talent and basketball ability to be major force in the league as a junior and senior.  He needs work for a half hour every day on using both hands to shoot - starting with his back to the basket - at times his shots from the left side of basket missed everything.

6- The gym was more than half empty and there were less than a 100 students in the student section - and no crazies.

Listening to WETN.  With 4:11 to play and Wheaton still in the game, Bill Harris really lost his cool...the WETN crew is right next to the Wheaton bench (I've worked from there) and their mics picked it all up.  I have never heard Coach Harris that out of control.

Could be the game.

"Little Brass Belligerents" is right. Dennis Bracco, Fritz Larsen, and Don Olson are handing out more T-bones in that game in the airplane hangar than a waiter at Gibson's.
