ODDS FOR D3 TOURNEY

WHEATON - I think they are in.  Even if they lose their next two games.
ELMHURST - a virtual lock if they beat Carthage Saturday.  Another win or two wouldn't hurt.
NORTH CENTRAL - need to win CCIW tourney.
AUGUSTANA - need to qualify for and win CCIW tourney.
CARTHAGE - need to qualify for and win CCIW tourney.

I wish all 5 could make it.  I think they are among the 60 best D3 schools in the nation.

Ok. the gloves are off and the game is on.

Let me first say that I expect a great game vs NCC on Saturday night from a well coached, disciplined team that has played well together this year. I think it will be close and NCC has had Wheaton's number the last few years so I don't expect anything other than a great performance from the Cardinals.

That said, I have to say I am really tired of the abused stepchild drum that AndOne is beating repeatedly. The ONES WHO VOTED are the coaches and personally they weren't that far off. They voted the Cardinal 6th and it looks like they are on their way to 3rd or 4th. WHO CARES? you keep touting your win against Wheaton when EVERYONE knows they weren't close to full strength. NCC played great and was definitely the better team that night but don't use that game as a measuring stick of you season because no one else does. Use THIS game!! Wheaton is at full strength. Run your mouth if you win Saturday (an NCC win is a distinct possibility--AO running his mouth is a given) but please stop insulting everyones intelligence with your "win against #7".

I pause here to say this is not a post against NCC because I see a win saturday as a distinct possibility. I am just tired of AndOne's Lou Holtz style posts. NCC is currently 2-3 against the other likely teams in the conference tournament  and 0-2 in THEIR gyms. This Saturday would be a signature win and if you do it the "old fashioned way" you will get all the kudos you deserve. Up to now NCC has been a good team and has won some games no one thought they would. They have also lost some games they absolutely should not have lost if they want to be a top team (home against IWU, @millikin).

Good luck to the Cardinals Saturday. Bring your A game, leave it all on the floor. You are playing a great team with all their guns in top form. No excuses, leave it all on the floor and may the best team win!

I feel better now. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.........

Thanks for saying what a few of us have been thinking.

Rather than just jumping on the bandwagon, at least I have the balls to voice and support my opinion despite the criticism I'll likely receive.
As far as your blurb "Thanks for saying what a few of us have been thinking." I'll bet its the few others who do what passes for "thinking." An exercise you're obviously incapable of.

Exactly what bandwagon did I jump on?  It seems as if you think you know me but you don't.  I happen to have a life.  I don't just sit at my computer day and night pontificating about my team and then whine when someone disagrees.

Its very easy to be the front runner and continually either put down or grudgingly give left handed compliments to a lower ranked opponent, especially when you have several other fellow supporters you know will back you up at the slightest criticism of your team. The fact is North Central has exceeded everyone's expectations except perhaps their own this season. And yes, I'm going to praise their efforts/results because if I don't nobody else will. I'm sorry I may not do it in a style you approve of.

As to your comment "EVERYONE knows they weren't close to full strength," it sure sounds like you're making excuses for Wheaton's loss. If one of the NC players had been unable to play and I or anyone else mentioned it, I can only imagine how loud you would be howling. The fact is Raymond played half the game and scored 13 points. If he had played the entire game and scored 26, North Central would have still won.

Lastly, speaking of someone "running his mouth," I imagine its about time for another of your sermons. Enlighten us your Lordship!

NCC has done better than expected.  That is a very  fair point.  Nobody expected them to be in the chase.

"If one of the NC players had been unable to play and I or anyone else mentioned it, I can only imagine how loud you would be howling."
If that player happened to be an All-American and the leader of your team, you'd be more than welcome to make a case for it, let alone mention it.  By saying "If he had played the entire game and scored 26, North Central would have still won," you're giving the perception that you don't know what you're talking about beyond simple numbers.  Having read other posts of yours, I think you're capable of thinking more deeply about things- assuming that they are pro-NCC concepts you want to prove.  So while your school support is commendable, it's become a bit of a blinder and more of a bias.

BUT, the good news is that this weekend will prove the point one way or the other, as was already mentioned.  So just keep calm and ride this one out until then.  No need to go flipping out over some perceived disrespect.  It's like Rodney Dangerfield in here.  Nobody wants to give any credit to NCC?  Fine.  Let them earn their praise in spades by beating Wheaton again on Saturday.  But as it stands now, following that whistle-happy, 20 minutes of Raymond on a bum ankle previous matchup, NCC needs to show they can beat Wheaton at full strength to get the accolades you're trying to get from everyone else on here.

And whether or not you want to concede that Wheaton was not at full strength, it doesn't matter.  Wheaton's going to come out and play to prove that point, so NCC will have to make a game of it or it will get ugly.  (see Wheaton vs. Elmhurst, 2-11-09)

I believe thats the Usee/Wheaton bandwagon 74.
Disagree all you want. All I ask is that you support your thinking, give credit where credit is due, and not either accuse or agree that someone is "running his mouth" when he voices his opinion or supports his team.
Lastly, speaking of pontificating, its an easy exercise when doing so from the front runners position, especially when you have a large congregation behind you and you know you are opposed by a basically singular (whining by your definition) voice.

Let's all just take a breath and read together the line that's at the bottom of every one of AndOne's posts.  :)

one of the great "Tool Time" episodes when Al tells Tim they should get naked and sit around the campfire.

Everybody sing....

Kum-bay-ah my Lord,
Kum-bay-ah....

everybody hum on the 13th verse....

If you can find one let's put USEE & ANDONE in a phone booth.

Or an ultimate cage match - in the octagon-shaped cage -

in this corner General Custer (played by....),
and in this corner the entire Sioux nation,
and they're open for business baby.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

The fact of the matter is NCC would rather BACK into a 8-6 or 9-5 CCIW season rather than make excuses for a 1-13 or 0-14 season!  The latter would be the second of its kind in four years!  :(

It's an interesting day for sure when posters representing schools from both ends of the conference standings get attacked by a team solidly in the middle.

I think we have it all covered now.

AO, If you think I have made ANY excuses for the first meeting between NCC and Wheaton then you haven't read most of my posts since that game. Likewise, suggesting you have any clue about what the outcome of that game would have been with Raymond playing 35 minutes is pure fiction. As I have repeated several times in several ways, the best team won that night with the players on the floor. This weekend will be different and all questions people may have, spoken and unspoken, will be answered on the floor. And win or lose, I will come on here and offer my unsolicited (and currently unwanted) opinion.

I enjoy reading your posts and I have no problem with what you write and usually how you write it. You are entitled to post however you want. I encourage it. I happened to take issue after the 5th or 6th time you tried to qualify NCC's season with the win over Wheaton. I admire guys like Sager and Q who come on here whether their team is in first, 4th or last and offer their opinion. I think I have been on these boards long enough to state my opinion with some conviction of experience based on observation. I have often offered praise of other teams and their coaches performance and criticism of my own team when it is deserved.

I do apologize for the 'running your mouth' comment.  That wasn't appropriate.

No argument from me. I think the burks 1st team spot may be a lock if he plays well and they beat carthage although I think Rogers should merit strong consideration and may steal it if NCC beats Wheaton Saturday. Wiele is probably a long shot right now but if he has a monster game and shows up on defense vs NCC he has a shot. Augie lost their shot at a 1st teamer over the last 2 weeks it would seem.
