Sssshhhh!  Andone is still sleeping!!!!!

I think he has a migrane after his head exploded last night.

Feel better now 74impala?
Another post reflective of your vast knowledge and basketball expertise.

I happened to notice that your eyes were popping out of their sockets by the end of the game last night.  I just figured you were a little under the weather today and thought I'd let everyone know.

74impala---

My eyes are just fine, thank you. And, I doubt my physical well being is of any interest whatsoever to anyone here besides yourself.   :)

By the way big boy, some readers might wonder why you spent so much time looking at another guy instead of paying attention to the game.  ;)   :(

And tell me something else 74---How is it that rather than talking basketball, especially posting anything resembling any type of game/player analysis, over your last several posts, that instead the focal point of the majority of your recent posts seems to be concentrated on attacking me personally? Just what the heck did I do or say to tick you and your friends off so severely? All I can say is that you must be a very hateful person. By the way, are you a Wheaton grad as well as a WC fan? You know the school with the sign out front that states "For Christ and his Kingdom." If so, I wonder what the Lord would say about one of his "followers" who instead of making an effort to follow his teachings more closely spends much his time spewing the hate based garbage you've been been authoring lately. Sounds like you may be a hypocrite who talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. Peace.

Wow AndOne, are you sensitive or what!?  I'm not sure where these personal attacks are.  I do see a little ribbing of a guy who takes himself WAY too seriously.   As I said before...maybe it's time for you to take a break.

I have noticed that you tend to call other people names when they question your posts or nick your Karma.  Is it a case where you can dish it out but just can't take it?

Is it time for a time out, yet?

Even "I" (the royal I) didn't get this upset at the Karma bandits.

Let's all hug and make up (you wouldn't believe how good I look with eye shadow and blush).   ;D ;D ;D

The King

Careful with that huggy/eyeshadow/blush stuff, Dennis, or someone in a bad mood (and there are some here from time to time) is going to redub you "The Queen".  :D

I meant to add that one thing I have always enjoyed about the Elmhurst program is how the players line up after the game and head over to the bleachers to shake hands and talk with all their fans, from the youngest to the oldest.  It's probably a thrill for some of the little kids in the crowd.  It's a nice tradition that I haven't seen anywhere else.  Every player participates, win or lose.  Classy.

Thanks for mentioning that, Pete. That's become something of a tradition at Elmhurst, and I've always admired it as well.

After seeing Jake Carwell  have limited playing time in the previous 2 games ( 16 minutes at Ill Wes and 19 minutes at Carth) due to foul trouble, it was good to see him get 34 minutes against NC.

It seems to me that Raymond's conditioning still isn't totally back.  Until his injury I can't remember him ever asking out of a game.  I saw him ask for a break at least 3 times on Sat.

If he was guarding Drennan, his fatigue might've had more to do with the fact that he was forced to spend the night wrestling in the low post rather than running around the perimeter on defense as usual.

In Patrick Abegg's new projections, the #1-rated Pool C candidate is Hamilton...

IWU vs Hamilton @ Wash U...

http://www.iwusports.com/custompages/MBB/MBB2009/IWU6.HTM

Under this system, a national Pool C decision is made based strictly on regional criteria.  That is tough.

The new projections seem to support my thought that Wheaton and Elmhurst are locks, while Augie and NCC need to win the conference tournament.

That was good stuff!  Some great discussion.  Titan Q, thanks for asking some questions and bringing up some great points.

The current system is better, but it could still be improved.

I have read about Brett's commitments to both academics and basketball and find them commendable.  When Bob mentioned Brett's commitment to studying his oversized Biology textbook on game day, I was impressed.  It's another great illustration of how D3 offers us a great view on true student-athletes.  What I don't see is the "undersized" part.  I see Brett listed at 6'5" and a solid 225 lbs.  That gives him the same height and a 5 to 10 pound advantage over Drennan and Rogers with North Central.  For Carthage, Tolo is listed at 6'6", 190 and Williams at 6'6", and a seemingly generous 202.  Down at Millikin, Demby checks in at 6'7" with no weight listed, but I'd guess he's not as heavy as Brett Chamernik.  If you mean that he's smaller than Ruch and Wiele, OK.  But so is the rest of the conference.

I am referring to height, Pete.  Here are the CCIW's starting 5's...

Brent Ruch (EC), 6-9 Sr.
Andy Wiele (WC), 6-8 Sr.
Phil Schniedermeier (NPU), 6-7 So.
Joscar Demby (MU), 6-7 Jr.
Chandlor Collins (AC), 6-7 Sr.
Richard Williams (CC), 6-6 Jr.
Chris Drennan (NCC), 6-5 Sr.
Brett Chamernik (IWU), 6-5 Sr.

I'd call both Drennan and Chamernik "undersized" for centers in the CCIW.  Brett certainly has a very muscular frame, but he does not have Drennan's offensive polish in the low post, so his lack of height gets exploited more.  He also wasn't blessed with great leaping ability, so he can't get away with being shorter than his counterparts like Darius Gant (6-4) could.

I can see where Brett would have been a great high school center, because he was probably at least as tall as the opponent's center most nights, and I'm sure he was stronger than most (Chamernik was a football player at Benet as well).  I think he averaged like 18 & 10 as a senior, and he was an All-East Suburban Catholic player...

I also think Wheaton and Elmhurst are locks.  But what if Elmhurst losses Friday night and Augustana or North Central win the CCIW tourney?
If a bunch of conference tourney upsets occur throughout the nation, could Elmhurst possibly be left out?

I've seen Elmhurst no more than a win or two short the past four years.  I'm still nervous as a Bluejay fan.

2005  18-7  10-4   tied for 2nd with WHE at 10-4  IWU was 12-2
2006  17-9   9-5    3 way tie with IWU & NCC for 2nd at 9-5    AUG was 11-3
2007  21-6  10-4   2nd place at 10-4   AUG was 11-3
2008  18-8   8-6    4th place at 8-6, IWU & WHE 9-5, AUG 11-3

I'll admit that 2006 & 2008 were longshots but they really got hosed in 2007.

The Bluejays have a 47-23 CCIW record over the past five seasons.  I hope they get a least one bid to the D3 tourney in that span.

I think it was more from having to carry #11 on his back the whole night since the refs were only calling hand checks and not the actual mugging going on under the basket.

Scarlata has yet to decide where he will attend college but has narrowed it to four schools--Loyola, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan.

"I have Division I offers, but I might take the Division III route strictly for academics," Scarlata said. "I want to study business or medicine and Augustana has a great medical school. ."

I'd like to hear more about Augustana's "great medical school".

By the way, I was at the Elmhurst/Carthage game Saturday night and was really impressed with the Elmhurst crowd  -  particularly the student section.  They've taken a little heat on the board for being absent, or at least uninvolved for many of Elmhurst's games this year but they were very vocal Saturday night and spent a lot of time on their feet.  It felt to me like a real home court advantage thanks to the students and that has not been the case at other games I've been to there this year  -  including against Wash U in December!  Props to the Bluejays fans.

It was the best crowd of the season by far.  I noticed a good handful of recent alums and even some non-College people from the community out at this one.  Would love to see that more on a consistent basis.

I'd be very surprised if "I have Division I offers, but I might take the Division III route strictly for academics," Scarlata said" is the whole story. I'd imagine the Division 1 offers are contingent or even "greyshirt" offers.

......especially since there's nothing wrong with an aspiring doctor doing his undergrad at Loyola, an institution that actually has a medical school.  ;)

In fact, as I think back on this, I thought I heard something about him and the Ivy League.  Am I making that up, was that on this board, or did I hear it somewhere else?
