Thanks for being into this stuff enough to keep track of that each week, Greg.  Even if I did get crushed.

The final 2008-09 CCIW pick'em results are posted on the pick'em page. Congratulations to our 2008-09 champion, USee, and thanks again to everyone who participated.

Thank you Mr. Sager for your careful tablulations and work over the season it did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
How about an Honorable mention for leading those who dnp'ed for 1 week.
Just give lowest score of those playing for week 7 and I make it to 2nd place.  sure missed out on a gimmie week.  :)

A non-ncaa question for discussion:
What would a CCIW All-Defensive 1st/2nd/3rd Team look like?

well it would not have any North Park players on it.   :D
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Maybe not even any IWU players..? Sean Dwyer... maybe? :)

I was thinking players such as DRENNAN, prince, twyman, RUCH, bainter (if only for blocking kent twice), steve d, PANNER, CARWELL, kent?, mccrary?, jahns, COLLINS, most of the augie guards.. i didn't really know since i haven't watched any games that didn't include wheaton.

Question for Illinois Wesleyan fans. I was in Bloomington over the weekend to watch my nephew compete in the Illinois high school wrestling team state championships. The event was at the US Cellular Coliseum and I was very impressed with the venue (can't be more than 2 or 3 years old) which I didn't even realize existed.

Any chance that the IWU women hosting the Final Four may be a dress rehearsal for a potential men's Final Four hosting bid at the Coliseum? I know D3 has strong ties to Salem, but perhaps they would consider a rotation of some sort (2 years in Salem, 2 in Bloomington and repeat). Since the D3 tourney is so financially driven, it seems like it would make sense to see how attendance would increase/decrease if you put the Final Four in a state that historically would be seen as a basketball state, the backyard of one of the top conferences in the country and within shouting range of perennial powers in the WIAC, St. Thomas, WASHU, etc.

I don't think the committees cross over at all. Putting on a good show at the Shirk wouldn't necessarily lend itself to a successful men's Final Four bid.

What could help is if the place is SRO every night -- that might help establish the area as a place that would support a men's championship.

I'm just up the road from the Coliseum and the wrestling tournament was the first time I've been there even though there have been concerts and other events there.  It is nice, but it's been a controversial topic from day one of the planning I think.  I found it funny that we paid $7 to get into the qtr finals & semi's for high school wrestling, but paid less to get into the CCIW Men's champ. game at Wheaton that night.  Not only that but it's even cheaper to go to the game Friday which is the NCAA tourney.  They are still trying to get out of the hole in Bloomington with that place and it doesn't make money at all.

Thanks for the incite Pat.

BRLHSFAN,

Local politics aside, would you agree that it would be a nice venue for the finals?

Any predicitions on the size of the crowd for Friday's double header at Wheaton. Saw game disc of the Elmhurst game and it look like a great atmosphere. FU's group will be about 200. How does Hope and Platteville travel? How will Wheaton draw on Spring Break?

Since classes are still going on Friday, and it is just the beginning of spring break, I suspect that there will be a good crowd that evening.  Their first home conference game was the week before students would be back from Christmas break, and the gym had a very large number of Wheaton fans present, which was very surpising to me at the time.

Hope traditionally travels very well, but since the Hope women are hosting this weekend too, a lot of people are staying home and supporting them; so the numbers will be down slightly.

In addition to Monsoon's correct description, Friday nights have typically been a difficult draw for away games.  Should Hope continue on to Saturday, I would expect the numbers to increase significantly, since most wouldn't have to miss work to arrive on time like they will for Friday's game.  At least that's been the pattern for the CCIW/MIAA tournament games.

I anticipate a solid crowd at Elmhurst.  The student body was well represented (literally as they spelled out B-L-U -- bluejays on their bare bellies) at Wheaton and brought the Elmhurst flag.  Where was this support on day 1 of the season ?  :o

Needless to say, that with a smaller gym,  I think RAF will be packed to the rafters.
