According the game-by-game in the media guide they won the last two conference games of the 1954-55 season and the first three of the 1967-68 season, so by my count that would be 61.

"Wheaton began an unprecedented streak of 56 consecutive CCI wins in 1955. The 1955-56 team, which was inducted into the Wheaton Hall of Honor on Oct. 9, 1992, began the streak with an undefeated 14-0 CCI season and a school-record 28-4 record...

...The CCI streak was temporarily interrupted in 1959-60 when Wheaton ended its affiliation with the CCI...

...After Wheaton rejoined the CCIW in 1967 (Carthage and Carroll Colleges in Wisconsin had joined by then), the Crusaders won the first 5 CCIW games for a total streak of 61 consecutive conference wins."

Hmmm .... We've got 'started in 1955-56' (implying no end of season wins in 1954-55), and we've got a choice of 3 or 5 wins to start 1967-68!  But even if we take the 'best case' (two wins at the end of '55 and five wins to start '68) we only reach 63, so I guess Kentucky still survives! :D

Well, I guess I'm not going to tomorrow night's games. I'm surprised that they've sold out, what with Wheaton being on spring break and one of the teams (Puget Sound) too far away to have much of a fan presence.

Guess I'll have to catch Pat's and Bob's broadcast instead.

What I would like to say to St Thomas, Puget Sound and Washington U is:
Welcome to Thunderdome! :P ;D

The Wheaton community is really rallying around this team so I would expect that many of the tickets were gobbled up by townspeople.

It's a shame you wont be able to come

As league SID I had the record at 61 games.  Wheaton won their first 3 games upon returning to the league for the 1967-68 season.  North Park ended the streak with a 96-84 win in Crusaderland, scoring the last 12 points of the game.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

I believe that the students should be first.  That is why I waited to get tickets on the premise that I may take a students spot.   Since I live in Wheaton I will be watching the game at home on the big screen on WETN.  So I'll try again Saturday if Wheaton wins.

The school opened the dorms early for students to come back and support the team. They then reserved tix for those students. Should be a great crowd.

Augiefan,
From what I heard, Wash.U. sold around 350 of its 400 by 3:30. So, between 10:50 and 3:30, my guess is a lot of alums snagged tickets. I'm assuming the other 50 or so were either sold by 5ish or sent back to Wheaton where they will be released to the general public early Friday. This is all just a guess. All I know is Wash.U. had sold close to all of its tickets by the end of the day. Kind of surprising since its students (who regularly account for 60-70 percent of the crowd at an average home game) are on break. Should be a great game.

According the Wheaton Athletics Website, all of the tickets that were returned have been sold. There are no tickets remaining. I heard that the extra tickets sold out in about 5 minutes.

I could have this wrong but I heard one person bought a large block of tickets Thursday afternoon.  When Wheaton opened the doors to sell tickets at 2 today one person bought all the available tickets when he got to the ticket counter.  I don't know why some one would do this...is there that big of a market for this game?

Maybe he wanted to be sure the game wouldn't be blacked out within a 50 mile radius. ;D

I also hear that someone bought a lot of tickets. Someone who was standing 7th in line to get tickets for myself and a couple other people was told that Wheaton had about 105 tickets to sell, and that they would be limiting the amount of tickets to be sold to one individual. By the time the 6th person got up to purchase, they had already sold out of the tickets.

I'm not sure what really happened, but I am disappointed if there really were 105 tickets at 2 pm and someone bought the majority of those tickets.

Now that it appears as if I will not be able to attend the games, does anyone know if WETN will broadcast both games on the local TV station in the Wheaton area?
