So will the retirement of Coach Harris hurt recruiting for this year?  I would think Wheaton would want to name the new coach as soon as possible so potential players know who will be calling the plays next year.

I'd be interested to hear from the Wheaton folks if they think Matt Nadelhoffer is a possibility as well.

Most of the people to whom I've spoken don't seem to think that Nadelhoffer is in the running. The tag on him seems to be that he's viewed as something of a black sheep among Wheaties, for whatever reason.

I would not at all be surprised  to see a couple of CCIW top assistants from outside the Wheaton family emerge as viable candidates including one who has been on the scene for almost 10 years, and has been on the short list for probably a couple of head positions previously.

Would he happen to help out at the next conference school north of Wheaton?

I would be very surprised to see an assistant other than Frank without head coaching experience get the job. Just my opinion, but something tells me Wheaton considers the job to be so attractive that they will demand head coaching experience or an intimate knowledge of the program.

Greg, I don't think Matt is in the running either. He has worked very hard to get a good program going at Eastern, and though he still has a lot of family in the area, I don't think his interest level is very high.

North, yes, but more like the land between North Park and North Central

Kind of the way the NABC stuff works, it seems. These teams filter out one at a time without any cohesive release.

I really only asked because the link on the NABC site is an old one and takes the reader to the 2007 all-american teams.

Pete, Elmhurst College is almost due east of Wheaton College, not north. If you carried a compass on a train ride from College Avenue to Elmhurst, it'd read either ENE or E the entire way.

I hope that Little Pete is the one who is in charge of directions on your trip, or you might return to Chicagoland from Florida via Nova Scotia. ;)

I am sure a certain IWU alumnus on the staff at Elmhurst will be considered and talked to about the Wheaton job, as I am sure there are going to be some other Asst. Coaches that will be as well.

I am not goign to speculate or jump on the rumor train.  Last time I talked to him he told me he liked EC.  I do think however, it's every coach's dream to run a team as the head man, so who knows?

I think the Elmhurst staff of Coach Scherrer Baines & co. have done a great job turning Elmhurst into a contender almost annually after many years of dismal 500 or less finishes.
