But, the horse is dead.  Thanks for listening.  I can move on with my life now.

Except it has been beat so long after dead, that this horse is the topic on no less than 3 other boards, all who think Wheaton fans are a bunch of cry babies.  Thanks CCIWchamps.

But 2 baskets and 3 rebounds in an extra 6 mintues a games get lost somewhere between the 7th and 177th difficulty schedule.

And more than twice the steals and twice the blocked shots.

It was certainly an impressive display of dead-horse-beating by CCIWchamps, but to be truthful I'm more impressed by protracted arguments of this type that are prolonged by more than one obsessive disputant. Anyone who really has a taste for following a week's worth of backbiting or statistic-laden assertions over one picayune point or one vague insult should spend more time on the MIAA board, where the Hope and Calvin folks regularly turn entire Clydesdale carcasses into equine hamburger.

We're going to have to try much harder if we intend to assert CCIW superiority in the let's-flay-Secretariat category.  ;)

Excellent point Greg. And you also made a good point on the AA board that this isn't necessarily a CCIW board gripe more than just a prolonged discussion by mainly 1 poster. For the record, I have no problem with this type of debate, even the prolonged type, as that what the board is for. I will note that everyone wants to "move on" but no one has proposed another topic. (caveat: on this board that is true but Q started another topic on the AA board--good for him).

I think the Harris successor would be an excellent topic.  Though it has been discussed on this board recently - it would be neat to see the various sides champion their prospective nominees again.

I personally would have no problem with either Frank or Barnes coaching my favorite team - they are both good choices.

I seem to recall Bob saying once that he had a policy of dropping a subject after his third comment on it -- or am I just imagining that you said that, Bob? Anyway, I thought it was a good policy and I've tried to adopt it as well. Not that I've always been successful at sticking to that three-post limit, mind you. ;)

For anyone interested, the NAIA DI national championship game in Kansas City is tonight at 8:50pm.  It will be televised on CBS College Sports TV...the same network that had the D3 title games.  I know Direct TV has it.

Columbia (Mo) vs Rocky Mountain (Mont)

If you look at the bracket, both teams are cinderallas...

Guess I should have checked out some Columbia College games this year! Here is their schedule and results...

http://www.columbiacougars.com/m_basketball/2008-09/Schedule.asp

One of their losses was to Missouri Baptist...the team IWU beat in Florida this year.  (Columbia split with Mo. Baptist.)

And here is Rocky Mountain's...

Usually, the NAIA D1 Final Four teams are a lot better than the NCAA D3 national championship team - they are bigger, quicker, and more athletic (much more like really good NCAA D2's).   I'm not sure what to make of these two teams.

I am sure a certain IWU alumnus on the staff at Elmhurst will be considered and talked to about the Wheaton job, as I am sure there are going to be some other Asst. Coaches that will be as well.

I am not goign to speculate or jump on the rumor train.  Last time I talked to him he told me he liked EC.  I do think however, it's every coach's dream to run a team as the head man, so who knows?

I think the Elmhurst staff of Coach Scherrer Baines & co. have done a great job turning Elmhurst into a contender almost annually after many years of dismal 500 or less finishes.

Going back to the hot topic before the Raymond vs. Bartolotta dead-horse-flogging ... any speculation about Baines (or any other potential candidate) for the Wheaton job needs to take into consideration that the school uses very specific religious criteria in its hiring policies. I have absolutely no idea where Baines stands on such issues, but if we're going to be discussing potential replacements for Bill Harris this is something that we'll have to keep in mind in terms of this discussion.

I still haven't heard anything to dissuade me from thinking that Mike Schauer has the inside track on the job, if he wants it.

Dennis: for us not so literate Greg took the analogy of "beating a dead horse" to a new levle by relating the MIAA's continual revisiting of issues (see the recent pages on the Hope/Calvin games )  to the POY discussion. Saying it another way, To borrow a line from a great movie, "If beating a dead horse were people, the MIAA board would be China"

Titan2000: looks like your answer is no (but if you page back there is no shortage of ponitification on the subject in pages past)
