You're being much too hard on yourself, Chuck. Over the years I've found a good dozen or so to be worthwhile reads. ;)

North Central's guests in the annual NCC/Holiday Inn Select Tip-Off Tournament on 11/20-21 will be Lakeland, WI; Oberlin, OH; and Mississippi College.

Mississippi College is one of those programs that've always piqued my curiosity. It might be fun to take the Metra out to the airplane hangar and see them. Of course, NCC isn't going to play them on Friday night. The question is: Will Raridon opt for the meaningless gimme win on Friday night (Oberlin) or the probable win that would count towards his team's regional record (Lakeland)?

I saw a very interesting game up in Deerfield last night.  IWU (Sexauer, O'Callahan, Lawson, Dwyer, Reed, another freshman from Riverside-Brookfield I think it was (who looked good) along with a couple of others versus a Wash U/Wheaton hybrid team featuring, among others, Sean Wallis, Alex Toth, Jake Carwell, Andy Wiele and Kent Raymond.  IWU got off to a sluggish start, but when Reed and the other freshman came in, they ignited a bit of a comeback and the game stayed within 3-5 points with Raymond looking very ordinary and turning in a non-Raymondesque performance.  With five minutes to go, and the hybrids up by 3 or so, Raymond took over, began driving, dishing, shooting, controlling play, being forced almost out of bounds along the baseline, pivoting, fading into the corner of the floor and just draining a high-arching 3 pointer to take the lead into double digits.  A couple of minutes later, the hybrids had themselves a 64-47 win.  Willis looked very smooth.  Wiele and Carwell put on a dunk exhibition at halftime that surpassed anything I had seen out of them to this point.  Reed and the other freshman were two of the brighter lights for IWU.

In Mississippi College, you will see 15-20 of the finest athletes in D-III.

The Choctaws always have the best athletes (in men's hoops) in the ASC.  :)

Greg--

I realize that as a city dweller you may not be the owner of vehicle, but if you are, Naperville will allow it within the city confines for a small fee. However, a parking space, either on campus, or in the vicinity, might be a problem. If you do drop in, make sure to take a tour of the new residence hall-recreation center which is immediately west of the hanger.
As far as who NCC will play on opening night, I'd take the most "sure" win, and hopefully let the other team wear down the Choctaws a bit, considering what Ralph said about their athleticism and conditioning.

Mississippi College which describes itself as a Christian school of 4,900 students affiliated with the Baptist church, loses its top 5 scorers from last season's 20-7 team. Not including incoming freshmen, they will feature 5 players 6' tall or less this season.   I'm sensing small, very quick, good shooters, aggressive defense.

The Titans previously played the NCC alum team very tough. Sexauer will be a force. I'll predict 1st team all conference status for him.

He didn't look anywhere near that last night.  Having said that, I'm not sure what his competition will be for that spot at that position with Wiele and Ruch graduated.  He was very predictable going left last night and anytime he deviated from that, it was largely ineffective.  And Wiele was not making him work very hard on the offensive end of the floor.

As has been discussed here in the past, I don't believe the conference picks all-conference by position.  Theoretically we could see 5 point guards as 1st team all CCIW if I remember correctly.  Obviously not plausible, but just to the point.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

And One, MissColl will "re-load".  They always go 15 deep.

IMHO, they are always one of the best 60 programs in the country. Of course the CCIW has 3-4 Top 60 programs, too.

It is best to catch them early in the season, as they are working in their new JUCO's.

The state of Mississippi has a well-organized JUCO system.  Local players go to the JUCO and get their first 2 years, and then go from there to all levels of the NCAA.

It is actually quite cost-effective for the state, and seems to help get kids graduated.
