Interested to see what they do @ Eastern Illinois tonight.  Seems like Ralph Hodge has a powerhouse this year.  This will be the first time in 15+ years IWU and ONU don't play.

Olivet Nazarene lost at the buzzer to Eastern Illinois, 72-70.

IWU has its final preseason scrimmage this evening - 7:00pm @ Aurora.  (I believe the two teams are scheduled to do some halfcourt stuff starting at 6:45, with the 1st half of the scrimmage at 7:00.)

The Titans have a busy first week...

Sun, Nov 15 - vs Benedictine
Wed, Nov 18 - vs Webster
Sat, Nov 21 - vs Johnson & Wales
Sun, Nov 22 - vs Wash U or Ohio Wesleyan

All CRAP teams except for the last one

UW-WHITEWATER scrimmaged Elmhurst last night.  I was just wondering if anyone happened to see the scrimmage and could offer any information about it.   Thanks in advance.

WETN aired an interview with new Wheaton head coach Mike Schauer during halftime of the IWU/Wheaton football game.  He said if he had to play a game today, he'd start...

G - Andrew Jahns, 6-2 (Jr)
G - Stephen Pierotti, 6-1 (So)
G - Ben Panner, 6-3 (Sr)
F - Tim McCrary, 6-6 (So)
C - Jake Carwell, 6-7 (Sr)

Schauer said Aaron Garriott has been dealing with some kind of injury, and that as set him back.  He was clear to say the starting picture could change by the time Wheaton opens (11/20).

Wow! The possibility of Pierotti starting at the point is very surprising. In HS, he was a steady player but was greatly overshadowed by the 4 other starters, 3 of whom are playing college basketball (1 DI, 1 DII, & 1 DIII) with the other playing soccer at Wheaton. Pierotti was very lightly recruited and ended up at Wheaton mainly because his mom is an employee of the College. He played very sparingly last season. Wheaton must be very light in bench players if nobody on the roster has been able to beat him out for the backup PG position.

Paging Jeremy Pflederer.  Paging Jeremy Pflederer.  Please pick up the white courtesy phone.  Quickly.
Cochrane has been issued #12, Pflederer's number, according to the roster

You have no idea what you're talking about. I've seen Benedictine; the Eagles are solid.

I'm sure that Wheaton hasn't run out of numbers. If Pflederer wanted to play, Mike Schauer would certainly be able to find him a uniform.

yes and he would have a uniform with the #12 on it.  Which is my point he's not playing thus his number was available to be given to another player.

Yeah, but my point is this: If Pflederer changed his mind today and decided that he wanted to play this year after all, would Schauer tell him no? Keep in mind that Garriott hasn't practiced yet for Wheaton, either, although he's sitting out due to injury.

I doubt that Pflederer would get #12 if he returned today, since that uniform's already been handed out, team pictures have been taken, etc. Players change numbers all the time from one year to the next, so it'd be no big deal. (I think Mike Ventura went through at least three different uniform numbers as a Viking during his four years at NPU.) Of course, if Cochran is only going to play on the JV team for Wheaton, the status of the #12 uni would be another matter entirely.

Gee Greg I don't know why Pfederer is not on the roster.  I don't know how attached he is to that number either.   Cochrane was #11 at Greenville, and a soph. has #11 here.  So I guess maybe Pfederer is upset he didn't get his number this year?   :)

Elmhurst won both halves is what I'm told. Sounds like the Bluejays played pretty well.
Elmhurst started:
Dustin Bainter
Chrils Childs
Zack Boyd
Joe Acosta
Wes Dukeman

I'm pretty sure those will be the 5 starters in their season opener at Hamline.

Vikes scrimmaged Loras tonight at Carver. Augie won both halves, 36-34 and 51-31. Starters were DeSimone, Pelton, Voiles, Norton and Nelson. Brandon Kunz, who didn't play at all with the varsity at Platteville, looked very good. I think he had about 15 points. Kyle Nelson was dominant inside--27 points and 11 boards, 12-17 from the field. He's a load.

Not nearly the level of competition they faced in the first scrimmage, but I think the second half was pretty encouraging. They were able to cause a lot of havoc defensively, especially in the second half. Augie forced 26 turnovers, had 18 steals and outrebounded Loras 47-29.

Offensively, they've really pounded it inside in both scrimmages. They went to the line 37 times tonight and attempted just four threes. In two scrimmages they've shot 65 free throws and attempted just 12 threes.

Dansand,
How did Norton look in tonight's scrimmage?  I am assuming like a CCIW frosh?!?

...but a pretty good CCIW frosh.

He's pretty raw on offense, but he's really active on defense. He can get out on the perimeter and guard and he got his hands on a lot of passes tonight. Actually, all of Augie's big guys did. He's an exciting prospect who's probably going to get more minutes early than anyone would've expected a month ago.
