On the IWU @ Illinois College game...

http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/college/basketball/men/article_7e3c6000-e948-11de-8816-001cc4c002e0.html

In the article, Ron Rose goes into some of the post-Koschnitzky injury rotation issues I speculated about the other day.

"When John got hurt, it altered our rotations," said IWU coach Ron Rose, who expects Koschnitzky to return in mid to late January. "There are a number of guys in the mix. We are waiting to see which guys give us the defense and rebounding out of that position we need to be successful."
-----

"We're still trying to fill in some gaps he (Koschnitzky) gave the team," Rose said. "In addition, a number of guys have really been playing well and earned the opportunity to see if they can fill gaps with the varsity team. Rudnicki and Schouten both played very well for their first varsity experience."

Hopefully the Titans can find the combination they're looking for tonight.

Also in that article...

McCullough still sidelined: Sophomore Eric McCullough is still having pain in his surgically repaired hips and may not play the entire season.

"There hasn't been a whole lot of progress there," said Rose. "It's likely he will (medical) redshirt this year based on what we know right now. Something would have to change dramatically for that not to be the case."

6-9 McCullough applying for, and being granted, a harship waiver (medical redshirt) - and the family being able to pull it off - would be pretty significant in the long-term.  It would give him next year to finally play a healthy season, even if that needs to be on the JV team, and then put him in position to be ready to go as a JR and SR.

The Titans will just have way too much depth for the Blueboys. I think it could be a good game, but my gut tells me if the Titans are good enough to win the CCIW then they should win this game by 15 or more.

The problem is that, since looking like a team very capable of winning the CCIW in the battle with Wash U on November 22 (IWU was great in that game), the Titans have not played like a team capable of winning the conference this year.  Since that 5-point loss to the Bears...

vs Manchester, W (79-77)
vs Monmouth, W (65-55)
vs Chicago, L (60-68)
vs MacMurray, W (79-70)

IWU just has not clicked for 40 minutes during this stretch, and it's clear they are scrambling to figure out the rotation.  And looking at the one common opponent, the Monmouth team that only lost by 1 @ Illinois College, was within 1 of IWU with 9:00 to play.

So you are right about what a team good enough to win the CCIW should do with the Blueboys, but the Titans have not looked like that type of team lately.

We'll see.

*They do not shoot the 3 particularly well, but they do defend against it pretty well.

In just looking at the season stats, it looks like they shoot it extremely well...

59-139 3-point (.424)

That would be leading the CCIW by a big margin...

1.North Central  52-144  .361
2.North Park  55-155  .355
3.Wheaton  34-96  .354
4.Carthage  56-159  .352
5.Elmhurst  36-108  .333
6.Illinois Wesleyan  47-153  .307
7.Millikin  14- 47  .298
8.Augustana  28-101  .277

I certainly didn't mean to diminish Robertson's season or career, Mr Ypsi.
I just am not overly impressed by Jason Kidd getting 10 pts, 13 assists and 11 rebounds in 39:00.

I agree.  And McCrary's numbers were large enough to be that much more impressive.

And he was a mere 2 turnovers from a vaunted Quadruple Double

Kinda why I have Chicago "upsetting" Augie in the CCIW pick-ems this week.   I specified "upset" because thus far I'm the only one wondering the same thing you propose.

You are not the only ones.  I had said something similar last week.  I am sure others agree.  I was surprised how good Augustana looked in the game on Saturday, all things considered.

Right, I do recall you bringing up this topic last week.  My reference to being the "only one" was in the context of the CCIW-Pickem's.  I should have been more concise.

That last one has to be fake right?  The rest all seem legit, but the angles don't match up on the last one

It appears Illinois College's 5-11 guard Jacob Tucker can dunk...

By the way, IC's facility - the Bruner Center (where that video was shot) - is very nice.
And How!  During the NCC game he drove baseline and threw one down plus one! :)  He's a nice player!

I thought the exact same thing.  Too long of a delay between when the ball goes out of view over the house to when it reappears.  Plus the trajectory is significantly different when the ball comes back into view.  I'm guessing there were 2 guys on the roof.  One to catch the ball and another to "complete the shot".

All others seem legit.  Very cool vid.

Whenever I see videos like this it makes me wonder how long it would take to capture a successful scenario, especially when you've got 3 shots in succession.

It's not fake.  The shooter is Josh Bronke...starting 2 guard for Olivet.  The big kid I think is Kevin Ratch.  Played at Northern (DII), now he is playing in Ireland.  From what I heard that last shot took them all summer and they almost didn't turn on the camera. The video won first place in September on ESPN SportsNation.  ESPN checked it out for validity.
