Check out this video of Wheaton's Aaron Garriott and a couple other kids making crazy shots all around the Shirk Center and Bloomington-Normal...

That is just awesome.

That last one has to be fake right?  The rest all seem legit, but the angles don't match up on the last one

That was fun to watch. Do you mean to tell me that these were all legit shots?

CCIWFAN3

Yes it's legit.  It was a summer project May-Aug. I heard Garriot was bored since he was rehabing his knee so they came up with this to do.

New poll is out:

Wheaton remains #8
Augie drops to #18 (from #15)
Carthage #23 (up 1 spot)

It's not fake.  The shooter is Josh Bronke...starting 2 guard for Olivet.  The big kid I think is Kevin Ratch.  Played at Northern (DII), now he is playing in Ireland.  From what I heard that last shot took them all summer and they almost didn't turn on the camera. The video won first place in September on ESPN SportsNation.  ESPN checked it out for validity.

I just re-watched it and consider me still a skeptic.  I still think they all look completely legit, except for that last one.  The time the ball is out of the screen followed by the angle it comes back into the screen is completely wrong.  Regardless, still incredibly cool.

I thought the exact same thing.  Too long of a delay between when the ball goes out of view over the house to when it reappears.  Plus the trajectory is significantly different when the ball comes back into view.  I'm guessing there were 2 guys on the roof.  One to catch the ball and another to "complete the shot".

All others seem legit.  Very cool vid.

Whenever I see videos like this it makes me wonder how long it would take to capture a successful scenario, especially when you've got 3 shots in succession.

The one that cracks me up thinking about multiple takes is the one where the guy pops out of the trunk and shoots the ball.  Can you imagine if that took even 10-20 takes, how hot, cramped and whatever else that guy would be having been stuffed in a trunk for that long.  Not to mention what any passerbys might have thought

Is anyone attending the IWU game 2nite?

You'd think somebody would, but I've heard crowds are really down this year.   ::)

Final from Jacksonville...

IWU 70
Ill College 59

With IC sporting an 84.4 points per game average coming into this game, it seems like the Titans may have really clamped down on defense.  If that's the case, it's really nice to see.

IWU (now 7-2) led by 5 at the half, and pretty comfortably most of the 2nd.  I believe the largest lead was 13 points and the average was about 8...it got down to 5 in the final few minutes, but the Titans were able to close it out.

The Titans held a team that came in averaging 84.4 points to 59, at their place...so that's a big positive for IWU.  IC scored 94 vs Lawrence, 74 vs Carroll, and 70 vs North Central in regulation (86 total in the game).  The Blueboys shot just 29% on the game, including 16% from 3.

In the postgame on WJBC, Ron Rose said he felt good about IWU's defensive effort and how they closed out on IC's perimeter shooters.  Rose also spoke highly of Dan Schouten's performance.

Leaders for the Titans...

Sean Johnson: 16 pts, 6 reb, 3 assists
Doug Sexauer: 16 pts, 6 reb
Travis Rosenkranz: 10 pts (8-8 FT)
Edmond O'Callaghan: 9 pts, 10 reb
Dan Schouten: 8 pts

IWU outrebounded IC 48-80.

The Titans are now off 12 days...they play Trinity (Tx) and Southwestern in San Antonio Dec 28 & 29.

QuoteThanks for the memories, and +k - hope you'll stick around! :)

I left Peoria in 1970, though I still come back at least twice a year (my parents are still there, having celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last August :o).  Good thing I know the general layout of the city, 'cause I sure would be lost if I went by 'landmarks'!  (Yet all the neighborhoods are exactly as I remembered them!)

I was gone before Bird played; but did see Wes Unseld (Louisville was also MVC back in the day).

I saw several Louisville games just before they left the Missouri Valley including a triple overtime game on a warm day that made the old field house like a sauna.  The field house was made by welding together two airplane hangers and there wasn't much ambiance like say the new Cowboys stadium.  Getting to the conversation about division 1 vs. 3, Bradley played IWU some years ago.  I think Jim Molinari who played at IWU was the Bradley coach then.  I think Wheaton also played Bradley too in the same timeframe.  I know they played in 1964 in football as I was a freshman watching from Wheaton's sideline. My co-worker for 25 years was the Bradley quarterback (Billy Albritton) that day.

I'm beginning to understand your karma score. :P

Such an enlightening review! ::)
