IWU's JV takes on Olivet Nazarene's JV at 5:15 tonight.  With PG Eliud Gonzalez hurt, I assume IWU now starts...

G Bradley Ghere, 5-11 (Fr)
G Dan Oswald, 6-2 (Fr)
G Sean Seibring, 6-2 (So)
F Tyler Bontemps, 6-4 (So)
F Kevin Reed, 6-7 (Fr)

I think it's safe to say Oswald and Reed have the most upside on IWU's JV team.

One would think that NP's increased enrollment would easily counter the number of students who take class at night.

Greg, are you expecting a big crowd tomorrow night? I assume it won't be on the level of the Wheaton game, but I hope the 'Parkers are taking this rare opportunity to see their team in contention!

It's hard to say ... Wednesday games are a struggle in terms of getting a crowd, because so many NPU students take night classes nowadays. But I think that the crowd should be decent. I know that there's some Facebook chatter going on amongst the students about tomorrow night's game.

It'll probably be a late-arriving crowd, as the early set of night classes let out right before tipoff.

Warren Wade would have cancelled class.... ;D

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

NPU's increased enrollment isn't really reflected in the number of resident students, Mark. Aside from Sawyer Court and the Park North, which house a combined total of 170 students, I don't think that the school has added any additional housing in the past decade. No matter how many more students NPU enrolls, you can't fit more than one of 'em per bed. North Park's always been pretty strict about that one-student-per-bed policy. ;)

Lee Sundholm would've canceled class and then given extra credit to any of his students who went to the game. ;)

If you're not going to be in one of the CCIW gyms watching a game live this evening, be sure to tune in to NPU's web broadcast of the Carthage @ NPU game at 7:30 pm. Rob and I will be on the call, as usual.

A couple of stories from the Kenosha News on tonight's game ...

You got the quote of the year, Andrew:

QuoteJust for the record, Carthage men's basketball coach Bosko Djurickovic thinks highly of the 2009-10 North Park squad.

"They're a good basketball team," he said on Tuesday. "They play with a lot of confidence."

Why the need to make that declaration?

"I was sort of misquoted the other day by myself," Djurickovic said. "People are mad at me in the (D3hoops.com) chat room because I said, 'They think they're pretty good,' meaning that I don't think that they're good. Well, that's not the case. Teams that play with confidence do so because they think that they have a good team."

"I was sort of misquoted the other day by myself"? This is a Bosko classic. Beautiful!

Mr. Ypsi

Yup - that is classic! ;)

I'm gonna have to steal that one, though I'll go with the pithier:  "Sorry, I misquoted myself!"

Kinda like the athletes who claim to have been misquoted in their autobiographies! ;D

IWU 71
Augustana 64

* John Koschnitzky: 18 pts (4-4 3-pt), 6 reb
* Sean Johnson: 16 pts, 4 reb
* Doug Sexauer: 15 pts, 4 reb

* Matt Pelton: 12 pts
* Kyle Nelson: 12 pts

A necessary home win for the Titans.

Titan Q

Carthage 76
North Park 61

* Steve Djurickovic: 36 pts (8-10 3-pt)

North Park sagged back in a soft zone and let Carthage shoot wide open 3 after wide open 3.  The Red Men were 16-35 from 3 (.457)...I'll bet 25 of the 35 looks were wide open.

Wheaton 50
Millikin 45

* Tim McCrary: 18 pts, 14 reb

Given the lack of success nPU had with the zone in the 1st half vs IWU ... I just don't understand why it used a zone vs Carthage???

It was one of the most ineffective zones I've ever seen.  I was just watching on video, but Carthage shooters were firing up uncontested 3's with their feet set and all kinds of time.  When NPU came out of the zone, they still couldn't find the Carthage shooters.
