I tried accessing this board from China, but the entire discussion board was forbidden- The horror. I believe the Chinese government is trying to prevent its citizens from feeling joyful.

d3boards.com is banned in China, (or is it all of d3sports.com?!

Man, wait until Pat hears about this! :D

I must confess that CROW does not taste good.  Coach Bosco must have done something right for a Redmen romp to occur over the Titans.  I am hopeful the conference tourney is in Kenosha.  It is closer than Rock Island and Bloomington-Normal.  Speaking of normal, what is Karma?

Only the discussion board is banned. D3hoops was accessable, but 'posting up' was "Page Forbidden".

Maybe they just don't want their citizens to know about all the corn in Manito.

Actually, I have banned China from D3boards.com, thanks to a pair of hacking attempts and a   bunch of attempts to spam the board. Pakistan too.

Tough break for IWU70...a longtime follower and contributor in Hong Kong.

Thanks for the input on China and Pakistan... if you are not joking!   :-\

I teach an introductory computer science class and we will be talking Internet next week.  I planned to use the current Google confrontation with China when we discuss the regulatory challenges of the Internet, but I'll be sure to mention hacking and spam on D3 boards too!

Not to worry, Q.  I'm still lurking here just fine.  I thought the blocking might be on Pat's side, not on the China or HK side.  I get block once and again, depends on the computer and server I'm using.  But no problems at all getting to D3hoops.com generally and posting up most days, most times from Hong Kong.  I think the hacking and spamming is more a Mainland China issue (Pakistan and Russia, too), but not so much of an issue from dear Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.  We do have our "freedoms" of a sort still mostly in place.   I'll keep lurking and posting until I'm dragged off to prison, heh?  I can understand Pat's concerns.

This issue between Google and China (on many levels) is a real big one, an important one.  I'm teaching it in one of my seminars on China's Regional Foreign Relations and also have a senior student project team doing a semester-long research project on the same theme.

Glad to tell you we have more IWU grads, alums in Hong Kong and China now -- so hopefully they can raise the interest in IWU and D3hoops in Asia to some degree.  Did you know we have over 60 students from China at IWU now?  . . . including one guy who was the photo editor for the Argus, taking many of the shots of womens and mens games for the paper.  He's off in Hungary now -- as he's a total math wiz and will be doing a specialized math study abroad program there for 6-7 months.  Great guy -- with a great and loyal interest in IWU sports.

Thanks for your concern for my access  . . . but, luckily, I'm still on board, still lurking, still posting when I can.  I have a dime in my pocket in case I need to call you from jail!   :D

Carthage's Djurickovic Named CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's Steve Djurickovic was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Djurickovic, a junior guard from Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Bradford High School, scored a game-high 36 points along with 10 assists and four rebounds in a 76-61 win over North Park on January 27. Djurickovic tied a CCIW game record for three-point field goal percentage by going eight-of-10 from three-point range. He then scored 18 points to go along with 10 assists and four rebounds in an 80-55 win over 21st-ranked Illinois Wesleyan on January 30. The win over the Titans gave the Red Men sole possession of first place in the CCIW.

Stevie is my man though I still like Raymond over Stevie. Both are outstanding basketball players on and off the court!

That is what separates them from the rest...they are able to be outstanding basketball players off the court!  ;)

My apologies to the CCIW pick'em contest's participants, as I've been off the computer since Saturday afternoon. Standings and upcoming games have now been posted, so go ahead and get in your picks.

And since I've been away from CCIW Chat since last Saturday afternoon, I see that I've got some catching up to do. It was an interesting weekend's worth of posts.

*If Carthage is weak, how is it that they are in 1st place?

*Did Ron Rose screw up by not playing The Student Body more against the inside beef of Pierce and Guzman?

*I wonder at what point Bosko felt safe to insert the 7 scrubs who played a total of 16 whole minutes?

*A Luke Radliff sighting?

*All you would have to know to tell you Wesleyan lost was to know Cody Hilton had 15 points.

Aside from the Luke Radliff comment (who is Luke Radliff, anyway?) and the question about Bosko inserting his scrubs (his paranoia regarding IWU comebacks runs deep, and I'd be just as hesitant as Bosko to take the foot off the gas in a battle for first place, no matter how big a lead I had), this is the most incisive post of the weekend. Nicely done, Mark.
