On the topic of that D3 cost conversation from last week...

Batavia, IL — There is no doubting that Sara Fruendt has an extensive basketball background. Her dad Joel played collegiately at Illinois Wesleyan University. Her older brother Nick is currently playing at Northwestern.
----------
"Fruendt will attend a Division I school in the University of Iowa, but she won't continue her basketball career there. "I could have gone to a Division III school and played, but the cost would have been too much," she said."

A moment of silence, please, for Walter Morrison.

Who?

The inventor of the frisbee died today at age 90.

R.I.P., Walter.  Both people and dogs everywhere mourn your passing.

any update on Knapczyk's condition?

Thanks for asking.
Jonny is currently under treatment at Edward Hosp in Naperville.
While I do have more detailed info, I'm sure everyone realizes that without first securing permission from the family, it is inappropriate to comment further.
The injury looked serious and was.
Thoughts and prayers to Jonny and his family.

IWU has lost Stephen Rudnicki for the rest of the season (broken hand @ Millikin this week)...

Rudnicki has averaged 9 minutes per game in CCIW play and has provided solid minutes playing behind Sean Johnson at the 2.

I'm not sure how the Titans will adjust the rotation moving forward.

Fruendt's comment does not make a lot of sense to me.  She's going to pay out-of-state tuition and housing to minimize costs?

Regarding reciprocity agreements, MN and WI have one though MN rethought the deal several years ago because more kids left WI for a MN school than the opposite.  I don't know what happened more recently.

Mark... the aggreement is still effecticve... this year at least.   A friend of mine lives in MN and his son goes to WI w/o paying out of state.

I believe there is a reciprocity agreement between Illinois and Iowa. (Could be wrong though.) My brother, whose kids go to Batavia HS, told me that Iowa is probably one of the top five or so colleges where Batavia graduates attend. He calls Iowa, "The University of Illinois at Iowa City".

Article about IWU men's captain Sean Dwyer and women's captain Christina Solari, who have been dating for over 3 years now, and who will be honored at Senior Night tomorrow...

A huge thank you from this IWU fan to Sean Dwyer.  Dwyer is about as tough and hard-nosed as it gets.  He's been a real credit to Illinois Wesleyan.

Hoping the Vikes can take care of business against Millikin tonight.

I was at Carver to see the Wheaton game and it seemed Augie stopped being aggressive in the last 5 min on both sides of the ball.  Wheaton had wide open shots and the Vikes stopped taking the ball to the hoop on the offensive side.  Disappointing to say the least.  Hoping this was a case of young team showing up assuming the home games would be alot easier to come out on top.  (Augie is 5-2 on the road!!!)

A nice 3 game winning streak to end the conference season would mean a lot to this team.  They have definitely improved their play as the season has progressed.  Nelson ( a likely CCIW 1st teamer) has been a beast inside and Anderson is starting to show the offensive threat he will be in the future.  It seems that Pelton has not had the season I thought he would have.  I know he has been solid defensively and with handling the ball/assists/etc.  I had only hoped he would provide more scoring for this team.  All season we have missed outside shooting.  What if Voilles was playing?  What impact would Greene have had had he not quit the team?

In any event, a win tonight clinches the Vikes 5th consecutive trip to the conf tourney.  What a job Coach G. has done with this team this year.  Looking forward to a strong finish at home and a great CCIW Tourney.

Go Augie!!!

Mr. Ypsi

Here's hoping the Titan men can imitate the women: IWU 87, Wheaton 70. :)
