CCIWFAN3

I'm planning on listening to Wheaton tonight, IWU tomorrow, and hopefully both on Sat. I'd also like to go watch the IWU women. Too many games...not enough time to watch them all.

Welcome to March, Tom!

R u heading east to WashU?  That was a dumb question...I know:)

I apologize for the belittlement. I agree that athletics should not be placed ahead of character and academics. Especially since basically all CCIW athletes go pro in something other than sports.

However, since I have been apart of this conference North Park has performed dismally across the board (except for a few descent soccer teams). For example last week at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships, NPU scored 4 points out of a 662 point total. That is not very many considering that the top 8 relays score, and each school is only allowed to enter one relay team per relay event...

As far as basketball goes-- I suppose it was nice to see that they were at least somewhat competitive this season.

The 436 miles to Kenosha was tough...115 or so to St. Louis is a piece of cake.

I was hoping for a Regional at Westminster...25 miles or so away.  I guess the odds of that happening weren't real good.

Don't forget, final three-plus hours to enter the D3hoops.com bracket challenge.

You have extra time for the women's bracket, since the first game isn't until 4 p.m. ET on Friday.

Coincidentally, this order of schools is a preview of this years final CCIW football standings.  ;D ;)

Right... Because North Park is going to win a conference football game...

The scope of North Park's success in the CCIW is very limited:

go to h....

go directly to h....

do not pass go and do not collect $200.00

not funny

speaking of monopoly...

north park would be lower than Mediterranean avenue, as they are not close to a monopoly on anything, except for women's rowing. at least the vikings have that going for them. boats.

There is only one school in this conference that has never won a national title in anything. Guess which one it is, buddy boy. Here's a hint: It ain't located in Illinois.

I'm hoping that the fact that Steve D is the Man has -11 karma in only 11 posts (is that a record?) is indicative of the fact that he's probably not the best ambassador for Carthage College relations on this board.

That being said...I'm sure it would have been hard to not throw that jab in there at him. The stinger hurt me too. That's an interesting link though. I had forgotten about Millikin's recent women's basketball championship.

Most exciting time of year for a college basketball fan. Looking forward to watching the Wheaton game tonight and getting ready for a packed house at Tarble Arena this weekend.

Love the basketball support at Carthage - not only have they allowed the students to stay through the weekend if they want to watch (Spring Break typically kicks them out on Friday afternoon). But I hear the Student Government is purchasing the tickets for any student who is interested in attending. As an alum it's great to hear that the school is supporting the program.

Enjoy the games this weekend & safe trips to all of us traveling to the games.

I have a lot of friends who are graduates of, or are affiliated with, Carthage College -- and not all of them have a connection to the men's basketball program. In fact, I probably have more friends with Carthage ties than I do with any other non-NPU CCIW school save Wheaton (weird as that may sound). I will have no problem rooting for the Red Men in this tournament, just as I rooted for them during the three tourneys in which they participated back in the Wiertel/McDaniel/Garnes era.

But I'm not going to stand idly by when someone takes a cheap shot at my alma mater.

I didn't expect you to let that one fly by.
Just wanted to point out that Steve D is the Man probably shouldn't be considered as a voice of the majority of Carthage fans. Need I remind everyone of the one post where he had "Steve by Himself" as well as an elementary school posted on his version of the top 25. I'm pretty sure most Carthage fans wouldn't have gone along with that one.

Moving on... Thanks for supporting the Red Men. This year and back during the Wiertel/McDaniel/Garnes era. Those were some exciting years to follow and I'm hoping for more good years to come.

Enjoy the games this weekend.

Into_the_Blue

Good luck to the teams you cheer for this weekend guys!  As a SLIAC fan, I picked a CCIW-heavy bracket because of their regular outstanding performance in the tourney and the way they beat on one another in the conference.  Hope Im right!

Dennis_Prikkel

best of luck to all CCIW teams this weekend

as a worker for the Lutheran church which Augustana and Carthage are both affiliated with - i have an extra reason to root for the Redmen this weekend.

(and yes i know it's Red Men, officially, but like the Wheaton Crusaders somethings never change).

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Mr. Ypsi

I always root for ALL CCIW teams against 'the infidels'! ;D

I surprised myself by even popping open a bottle of champagne when the Millikin women won that national title.  Back in my day, we hated Millikin with a passion!  With their recent hard times in most sports, I guess that rivalry is probably now solely a matter of geography, and not even much of a rivalry except for older alums. :(

I hope Wheaton and Carthage win all their games in the tourney, until they face IWU!  (Which, alas, will probably not happen; I'm optimistic against Central, but pessimistic against WashU.)

Klompen

Good luck to the Dutch!  Good luck to all the CCIW teams not nicknamed the Titans.   ;)  Good luck to Westminster!  And, if Central doesn't win, good luck to Wash U.   :D

OK.  This is for anybody more tech-savvy than I am.....which probably includes most of you:  I took a look at the link for this game.  Is there a way to make the picture any bigger than the 2 X 3 or so little box that shows initially?

Just double click anywhere within the window...it should go to fullscreen mode.

It's funny - they have live video streaming of the scoreboard in an empty gym right now.  A "calm before the storm" kind of thing.
