NP's student section was silent except for five great students on the stage.  The gym was silent when NP shot free throws, except for the EC head coach and a couple of Blue Jay fans.  The coach was the loudest.  Is he the only coach who yells when the opponent is shooting a FT?  I find that behavior odd and unsavory.

And he would yell stupid stuff like, "Keep your head up" or "Remember to box out."  I'm sure these concepts have been ingrained in the players for many years so why at that particular moment?  Let the fans hoot, but not a coach. 43 League.

Dang!  Sean Johnson was almost the hero twice!

He made a 3 at the buzzer to send the game to OT, but missed one at the buzzer that would have won it - Thunder survives, 78-76.

I arrived on line late in the game. What was the nature of the injury to Travis? It appears from earlier posts that he was down on the court for quite awhile before they moved him. We all pray for a good news report on his condition real soon. Hopefully someone will let us all know as soon as the staff releases information.

Would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to the young man and his family and his IWU family as well.  All the best

I was at the IWU game and normally in such a loss, I would be disappointed.

Tonight, I just hope and pray Travis is ok.

I saw him go down and he didn't move again, he left the gym on a backboard and did not appear to be coherent.

I am not sure we saw him move once.

Scary, sad moment that puts things in perspective.

May God bless Travis and his family.

I saw the play on the video stream.  He was driving down the left side of the lane going for the basket, a layup and leaned into the defender, then got crumpled up as if the defender fell on him, perhaps hit him with a knee.  Didn't seem he hit the floor with his head, but once he was on the floor he didn't move.  It was a strange play that seemed really not to be one causing serious injury, but your couldn't see it all from the video angle.  There were two Wheaton defenders near him.  At first, we thought he re-injured his ankle or hurt his knee, but then he wasn't getting up and wasn't moving much.  Seemed like he got bent over and then fallen on.

I hope and pray he is OK.  Big loss for the Titans if Travis is again out, unable to play.  Tough loss in OT for the Titans tonight.  Doug Sexauer was the best he's been all year.

Support and prayers to Travis and his family and all the Titan program.

Do give us an update when you have some news.

It was really hard to understand what happened in the play, because it wasn't really visible what happened even in being there in person.

When he went down, his eyes seems to kinda blink a few times and then he was on his back and we couldn't see him move again.

Someone from Wheaton walked over court side to a phone and literally dialed 911. Took quite a while for the EMT's to get there. But once they got there, they got him on a board pretty quickly and took him off to a standing ovation.

It was horrible, his mom and dad were down there with him.

Just pray for the best.

I wasn't watching video at the time of the injury.  Fully agree with comments - Travis's health far outweighs the results of the game (or even the season).

IF he is unable to go, I sure hope Eliud Gonzalez can step up - the Titans still face NCC and Augie (and NPU in Bloomington) - unlikely as it seemed a short while ago, it could be IWU that is outside looking in when folks assemble in Rock Island.

Got word that Travis is awake at the hospital, but still very "out of it."  The CT stan came back good, which is tremendous news.  It sounds like a very bad concussion.

No one has told me this, and I am just completely guessing here, but unfortunately it would seem to me that he's played his last game as a Titan.  I mean, I cannot imagine being able to play again that quickly after such a nasty concussion.

If that is true, it really breaks my heart.  Travis Rosenkranz is a first-class young man who has worked incredibly hard to balance to rigors of basketball with his pre-med academic studies at IWU.  Just one of the nicest kids to ever play for Illinois Wesleyan and someone I have always rooted very hard for.

Wondering, what are the tie breakers rules for the 4th spot in the basketball tournament, because it is not unreasonable that we are looking at 4 teams at 9-5 at the end of the season...

Carthage and Wheaton win both games.
IWU beats NC and both lose to Augustana.

Carthage, Wheaton, IWU and NC would all end 9-5.

Titan Q

From watching most of the game on WETN video, it seemed like both teams played extremely hard.  IWU and Wheaton both made some big mistakes, but both also made several huge plays.

This was one of those games that truly just came down to a bounce here or there.  It seems to me like that is how most of the IWU/Wheaton games have played out, going back to the Simich/Crabtree vs Pitts/Nadlehoffer days.

Q, thanks for some preliminary and good news.  Hope Travis is OK, and that there are no serious injuries or long-term ramifications for his health.  Sadly, I share your view that he will not likely play anymore this season.  Travis is a great kid and a wonderful player.  Do keep us posted if you hear more news.  Very worrying, concerning . . . a really strange play and injury.

You are surely right, too, about the games with Wheaton, at King or the Shirk.  Some of the greatest, closest, most hard-fought and, it must be said, cleanest games in CCIW play.  Two great programs with a healthy respect for each other.  I've seen many many games over the years and they always seem to come down the last bounce or shot.  Some great play, great clutch shots tonight too.  Probably the biggest play was the block on Sexauer in the closing seconds.

Let's hope we have more good news on Travis' condition in the coming hours and days.

News we heard as we were leaving King Arena was that Travis was doing better.  Travis is a fine young man and one that our family has a great fondness for.  We certainly pray for Travis and a speedy recovery.
