(Oh, and by the way, Rob and I will be back next year doing the webcasts, so our viewers are stuck with us. ;))

Like they always say, "You can't fire all the broadcasters, so you fire the coach."

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

And probably not someone jumping straight from the NEAC to the CCIW. There are a little over 40 conferences in Division III and NEAC is in the 40s in conference strength while the CCIW is top five.
Agree.  Whoever comes in not only needs to be strong basketball wise but also have some established relationship with the down state Illinois, south Chicago and St. Louis area to attack prospects. Not putting down the existing roster, I think an opportunity exists for a good student/athlete to be a starter, or be in the bench (6-7-8) rotation as a freshman if the new coach can 'sell it'.

thanks for the update, greg.  they are also advertising it on the npu website -- human resources page.

Johnny Augie

It's been a while since I've posted, but still enjoy reading all of the comments.

I'll be attending the Augie game this weekend and I'm looking forward to it.  Hopefully the home court advantage will help them take care of business this weekend.

Viking Blue

Having been around North Park basketball for 15 years now, I can honestly say that Paul Brenegan did, indeed, bring class to the bench.  I wish him the best of luck as he moves on (he's not dead).

From speaking to some people who are extremely close to that bench over the years, I have heard on a number of occasions that he is a brilliant basketball mind.  In my opinion, that may have been the most frustrating part of these seven seasons for HIM--the fact that he felt he had the right players and the right scheme in place, yet execution was lacking on the floor.

And this is why I say we should be careful to be overly-critical of coaches at this level.  I'm not saying that they shouldn't be held accountable, but the fact of the matter is that men who have spent their entire lives in the game have to then have their jobs depend on (in some cases) pouty, me-first, immature 18-22 year olds.  As a high school coach myself, I'm happy my job is in the classroom first (well, for now anyway... :-[).

I, too, echo Greg's sentiments in hoping that Chris gets the opportunity to stick around.  Not to be lost in this change is the job done by long-time assistant Aaron Schoof--another class act.

Greek Tragedy

Is Augustana going to have live stats and/or video for the Point/St. Thomas game?

Thanks!

Thanks Pat.  The "live stats/video" was listed under the MHB v Augie game, so I wasn't sure if it was for just that game or for both.  I had seen that earlier.

I'd also like to add my thoughts on Paul Brenegan.  As a colleague on campus, I could always stop by his office for a visit, whether to ask about the upcoming game or to talk about a student-athlete in my classes.  But here's another concrete example of the "class act" description: when my father passed away last spring, Paul and Luke Johnson (head baseball coach) made the 600-mile round trip to come to the visitation.  I'll always appreciate that, and I wish him well in his next coaching job.

They had livestats for the Hope/Hanover game last weekend.

I have a hard time supporting Augustana, because maybe there is a chance that I will wake up and IWU is still in this.

BUT

They are a very good, class team and I think they really deserve to go far.

COACH G is a jerk!!!!!!!!!!!

GO AUGIE (unless this was all a dream and the Titans are still in it... and since it's my dream, IWU is hosting too!)

And basically, you are a BIG LOSER - G is the BEST recruiting coach in the CCIW - your green Titan recruiter forgets to add toughness to his roster every year..

Mr. Ypsi

Steve Djurickovic was announced today as the Jostens Trophy winner.

Way to go, Steve!  A shame you didn't get a chance to display your talents one more time in the Dance. :(

Outhouse,

I was making a joke because a previous poster was soliciting pro-Augie posts, AND I QUOTE "In any event  ongoing support of Augie from the rest of you until their season ends will be welcome. Even the comments on what a jerk Coach G is, although NPU's Dennis P. pretty much has the patent on that ongoing commentary.

Please try to follow along.

Calling me a name isn't going to change my opinion, I've already considered the source.

During the height of the CCIW season, this board can go through 5 pages A DAY!  Even I don't feel like scrolling back everytime I check this board! LOL.  ;D :D ;) :)

Ourhouse apparently missed it.  ???  ;D. Come on now, group hug.
