I live less than a mile from Pita Inn and have been there countless times.  I prefer Basha, which is also on Dempster, closer to E-Town.

The two commitments mentioned previously do not appear on the "Special Mention" All State squad, as printed in the 4/3/11 edition of the Tribune.

Perhaps posters can track the bball commitments of the spring 2011 graduates who appeared on the Special Mention list.  They include:  Kyle Anderson (Newark); Aaron Armstead (Hales); Macari Brooks (Rich South); Julius Brown (Hillcrest); Quenton Chievous (Notre Dame); DeShawn Delaney (Carver); Dre Henly (De La Salle); Mychael Henry (Orr); Ryan Jackson (Riverside-Brookfield); Jeff Jarosz (Morton); Jack Krieger (Plainfield North); Derrick Marks (Plainfield Central); George Marshall (Brooks); Zach Miller (Fremd); Jordan Nelson (Lincoln); Matt Palucki (Maine South); Jay Parkr (Thorton); Josh Piper (Champaign Centennial); Michael Powell (Brooks); Ryan Sawvell (Mundelein); Mike Shaw (De La Salle); Donivine Stewart (Limestone); Will Sullivan (York); Keifer Sykes (Marshall); Mike Turner (Chicago University); Sam Thompson (Young); Greg Travis (Curie); Darien Walker (Simeon); and, Nick Zeisloft (Lyons).

Skokie did contribute Abdel Nader to the Tribune's First Team All State this year.  I watched him play numerous times this year.  Nader committed to Steve Alford as a junior, but has backed off since.

These are some that I know of:

Kyle Anderson (Newark) Delaware; Aaron Armstead (Hales); Macari Brooks (Rich South) DePaul; Julius Brown (Hillcrest) Toledo; Quenton Chievous (Notre Dame); DeShawn Delaney (Carver); Dre Henly (De La Salle); Mychael Henry (Orr) Illinois; Ryan Jackson (Riverside-Brookfield) Lewis; Jeff Jarosz (Morton) Lewis; Jack Krieger (Plainfield North) St. Xavier; Derrick Marks (Plainfield Central) Boise State; George Marshall (Brooks) Wisconsin; Zach Miller (Fremd--do you mean Glenbard East?Northern Illinois, or Zach Monaghan, Fremd South Dakota State); Jordan Nelson (Lincoln) Evansville; Matt Palucki (Maine South); Jay Parker (Thorton); Josh Piper (Champaign Centennial); Michael Powell (Brooks) Rhode Island; Ryan Sawvell (Mundelein) Evansville; Mike Shaw (De La Salle) Illinois; Donivine Stewart (Limestone) Bradley; Will Sullivan (York); Keifer Sykes (Marshall); Mike Turner (Chicago University) Northwestern; Sam Thompson (Young) Ohio State; Greg Travis (Curie) UIC; Darien Walker (Simeon); and, Nick Zeisloft (Lyons) Illinois State.

I was going to mention that of the committments I knew of from that list, almost all of them were planning on attending D1 institutions.  Dan has beat me to the punch though in a much more thorough and informative way.

So in other words, this post has no purpose

Thanks for the prompt response, dansand!

Look at how few players from the list are going to D1 Illinois schools.  I believe DePaul, WIU, NIU, EIU, ISU, CSU, Loyola, and UIC all finished well below .500 this year.  SIU definitely has slipped recently since qualifying for the Big Dance several times.

as usual your post makes absolutely no sense....of the 20 players that were identified as having committed to schools, 11 of them will attend schools in Illinois (9 of them out of state).  Those that will attend non-D1 schools in Illinois will do so because they are not good enough to play at that level...NOT because the Illinois-based D1 schools are bad programs....

I didn't realize Lewis was a Division I school.  I thought they were D2 except in men's volleyball.  The U of I was not on my list so you can exclude Henry.  I forgot about Bradley, which only feeds my point that Illinois kids are choosing to go elsewhere.

Wow.  Pathetic Illinois-based programs choosing against recruiting in-state kids from the Honorable Mention list.  Maybe that's why they suck.

Speaking of U of I

I just wanted to let all my haters on this board know that my worst post here will still be greater than any of your best posts.

For the record the last comment on this board was a parody of a comment Jereme Richmond made to his "haters" after he declared for the NBA draft, not an actual comment regarding my performance on this board

Mr. Ypsi

pgkevin, you were too obscure for me! :-[

I was the one who sent you from 8 to 7; by the arcane rules on d3coards.com, my reversal within 24 hours sends you from 7 to 9! :o ;D

Enjoy your karma!  But be careful of seeming extremely rude to us old farts with karmic powers! ;)  [You'll be there with 11 more posts. 8-) - at least about the karmic powers; don't know about the 'old farts'. :D]

pgkevin

No worries.  I'll gladly take the double power up any day ;)

I just figured it was too much D1 talk for the D3 boards here.

Also figured it was probably a little bit obscure-->Jereme Richmond "tweeted" it.  I don't think I will understand that whole phenomenom

BlueJay21

Speaking of all state players and future possible recruits for the CCIW, Michael Berg will be a name that will be discussed a lot on the board in the next year. He is a 6'6 junior forward from right here at Midwest Central, where I happen to coach. He averaged 18 ppg, 10 rpg, and 5.7 blocks per game.

He will definitely be a name that everyone in the CCIW will be talking about during the next season. A couple of CCIW schools are already on him pretty good, and he already has interest from about 30 other D3 schools and a handful of Division 1 schools. Just an early heads up.

So just how much of the corn in Manito is he worth?
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!
