I can't figure out how to re-format that.  It must have been a long day.  Maybe somebody more anal than I am will clean that up for me.

I'm counting on y'all to be my Chicago traffic authority. I'll be driving from Michigan to Minneapolis and I'm wondering if I'd be wise to avoid I-90/94 in favor of I-294. Anticipated time of drive through Chicagoland is 6 PM local time. Thanks.

Absolutely take I-294. Don't even consider going through the loop at 6:00 pm.

In fact, take I-294 and then use I-290 to get back to I-90 and avoid O'Hare as well. Follow the signs for Rockford.

Ministry's Rio Grande Blood, released in 2006, includes "Assclown", which is sung by Jello Biafra.  Fantastic album, fantastic band, and fantastic frontman.

ziggy, I'd say either option is likely to be better than the other. It all depends on how much they get clogged by cars headed toward Minnesota! ha.
Actually, this will not be a normal weekday for traffic; a lot of regular commuters are off work today. But more people may be on the roads for leisure purposes. A crash can badly tie up either route, so I suggest you tune in WBBM 780 for traffic reports as you hurtle across northern Indiana.

Thanks everyone. I'm somewhat familiar with driving through the area as I used to travel from Indianapolis to Milwaukee for business. I almost always took 294 on those trips.

stayy off 294.  goes west on 80 all the way to 355.  take 355 north / stay on when it becomes 53 and it will take you to west bound i-90 right around woodfield mall in schaumburg.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

I'll offer another way similar to Dennis'...

Take 80 to 355 to 88 to 39.  This avoids Chicago completely and though it's a few extra miles, it will likely save time.

We frequently visit family in Madison, WI and Minneapolis, and always follow this route.
The farther west you can get before heading north will likely result in less traffic.
355, 88 west of aurora, and 39 are almost always more open than either 90 in the Chicago area or 294.
Same route on the return trip.

Thanks guys! ziggy and I are on 294 as I write this, and the sailing is smooth.

The Deerfield (JOG) Summer League schedule is out.
Games will be played at 7, 8, and 9 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on June 7th. No games on 7/12. The regular season concludes on Aug 9th. Playoffs follow beginning either Aug 10th or sometime the following week.

CCIW teams in the league are:

North Central--2 teams
Carthage-------2 teams
North Park
Augie
Elmhurst
Wesleyan

Other teams---Lake Forest (2 teams), Lawrence, Wash U., Loras, St. Norbert.

Several other "independent" teams made up of college players from the area.
There are 23 teams in the league this year.

Based on history, changes to the schedule should be anticipated at any point in the season. Check with your team or JOG before hitting the road to Deerfield, especially during the last 2-3 weeks.

A quick review of the summer league schedule shows that due to the large number of teams in the league this year, teams play only once a week rather than every Tues & Thurs (9 games). Perhaps the softball team can due without without its batboy on those occasions.  ;)  :)

Going without the batboy, perhaps......official scorekeeper, no way!   ;D ;)   There's bound to be at least one rainout for softball.
