I count 33 freshmen from 2010-11 CCIW rosters that are not on 2011-12 rosters...

North Park (11)
Rob Robinson (5-9, De La Salle H.S.)
Mike Woolf (6-1, Leyden H.S.)
Deon Lockhart (6-1, Uplift H.S.)
Zac Boster (6-0, Huntley H.S.)
Matt  Parks (6-0, Saginaw, MI)
Mike Henley (6-8, Lincoln Park H.S.)
John Folkerts (6-3, Aplington, IA)
Ibrahim Mouzaoui (6-11 Chicago, IL)
Matt Nelson (6-2, Wheaton North H.S.)
Alphonso Battle (6-2, St. Louis, Mo)
Stephawn Woodley (6-5, Decatur Eisenhower H.S.)

I'm not sure where you've gotten this from, Bob. I've never even heard of Matt Nelson or Alphonso Battle. As for the rest, this was a pre-preseason roster from last year, not a roster from last November 15. A whole bunch of these guys elected not to play at all last season: Mike Woolf, Zac Boster, Matt Parks, and John Folkerts all elected to forego basketball (unless you count intramurals). So they shouldn't have been included in your list, either.

As for the people who were on the NPU roster in 2010-11, Rob Robinson and Deon Lockhart were declared academically ineligible at semester break, did not play in the CCIW portion of the season, and subsequently left school after spring semester was completed. Walid (not Ibrahim) Mouzaoui is still an NPU student; however, with no family here in the States to support him, he has to work full-time and thus can't juggle basketball in addition to being a full-time student and a full-time member of the workforce, whch is a shame. Mike Henley and Stephawn Woodley played the entire season for NPU on the junior varsity last year, and then elected to transfer out.

Ah, the official season roster must've been put on a different PDF file when it was posted last October.

As for the recruiting announcement ... well, we all know that there's a world of difference in D3 between showing up on campus as a recruit and then actually making the decision to play rather than simply sticking to the books with a little intramurals on the side.

Burchett and Hallstein are considerable losses for NCC. The only players that the Cardinals now have that have any significant varsity experience are Kevin Gillespie, Derek Raridon, Landon Gamble, C.J. Goldthree, Aaron Tiknis, and Vince Kmiec. It particularly pares down the Cards' front line in terms of experienced players.

In looking at the non-con schedules of the eight CCIW teams, it's interesting to see what sort of mix they provide:

Augustana: 10 in-region games
Carthage: 4 or 5 in-region games
Elmhurst: 8 or 9 in-region games
Illinois Wesleyan: 9 in-region games
Millikin: 7 in-region games
North Central: 8 in-region games
North Park: 10 in-region games
Wheaton: 9 or 10 in-region games

Once again, Bosko doesn't seem to be too concerned with the whole idea of scheduling with a possible Pool C berth in mind.

I'm surprised that there isn't a lot of traffic on CCIW Chat tonight, given that we're on the eve of the first game of the season.

Here's tomorrow's Opening Day slate (last season's records in parentheses):

Aurora (15-12) @ Augustana (27-4)
Elmhurst (8-17) @ Dubuque (18-9)
Rockford (10-15) @ Millikin (1-23)
North Park (11-14) @ Eureka (4-21)
Wheaton (18-8) @ Loras (15-11)

I just posted a new topic on the Multi-Region boards but I started a "Massey" style ranking system over the summer and optimized it to give me the best predictions that I could last year...about 74% of games picked correctly.  I have a website created, although it is definitely in it's early stages. Here is the link:

https://sites.google.com/site/d3basketballindex/

I have predictions for tomorrow's games posted (although obvious these use information from last season along with minor adjustments).  Here are my predicted margins for tomorrow's CCIW games:

Augustana over Aurora by 15
Dubuque over Elmhurst by 7
Rockford over Millikin by 6
North Park over Eureka by 18
Wheaton over Loras by 9

Viking Blue

I, for one, am extremely interested to see how the Vikings look on the defensive end this year.  I understand the concern from the 2-guard position, but if Greer plays the defense that he is capable of, I'll take that trade.

To me, the most exciting thing to watch will be what Mike Gabriel can do with a full year on campus under his belt.  I really liked what I saw from him in terms of his hustle and athleticism last year.  Unfortunately, with most of that group, it was too much of square peg-round hole syndrome.

It sure would be nice to see what that whole CCIW tournament thing is all about!

Suchy is currently playing for Kishwaukee JC, and through their first 4 games is averaging 18.75 ppg
Word is he didn't exactly see eye to eye with Bosko last season at Carthage.

Greg, you are right, pretty quiet on this board for the opening week of the season.  Football board for CCIW has been pretty quiet, too.  Some great IWU and NCC football games this weekend.

IWU men open Wednesday night at home vs. Benedictine.

Not sure what to expect from Benedictine.  I think our guys are very much ready to play, to get the season launced with a good win.

Our women don't open 'til the 18th, vs. Coe in Wisconsin in a Tip-Off type tourney, weekend.   The women start their "schedule from hell" in playing 5-6 Top 25 teams in their first 11 games.   They can see what they are made of very early on . . .

For what it's worth, in the Benedictine @ Wheaton scrimmage last week, the Wheaton varsity pummeled the Benedictine varsity by 40 or 50 points in the first two 20 minute periods.  The 3rd 20 minutes, with primarily freshmen and/or JV players, was just as ugly.  It was one of the worst Benedictine showings I've seen in years.  I saw two Benedictine players that needed to be focused on, both perimeter guys.  After that, not a lot.  I would be surprised if IWU didn't win this handily.

By the way, is anyone aware of video links to any of the CCIW games tonight?
