Mr. Ypsi

Now, Bob, I saw that too, but he did get Eliud right twice later on.  Don't forget that Mark is as elderly as Mr. Y - we get a pass on the occasional senior moment! ;D

But he also spelled his last name wrong multiple times after.

I'm OK with spelling a 5:15pm player's name wrong over and over again, but 7:30pm guys who lead the league in assists (6.7 per game) should count on a little spell check from their own fans.

As a fellow Oak Lawn native, I'll continue fighting for Eliud on this.

Augie 55 over Knox 53 in Galesburg tonight. Bryant Voiles was out with an injury, and Augie staggered to an ugly win over one of the MWC's weaker teams. Troy Rorer was almost the only offensive presence for Augie with 21 points.

Bryant Voiles missed the game with an injury, and his absence demonstrated how important he is to any success the Vikings expect to have in the confrence season. Not sure of the nature or extent of the injury, but there should be an update in the QC Times tomorrow.

Touche.  I confess the s instead of z on Gonzalez slipped right past me - most folks with that name that I know spell it with an s.  I plead 'old eyes'! :P

Anyone know what happened to Scarlata?  Only 2 shots in the game?  He isn't mentioned in the play-by-play in the last 17 minutes of the game either.

Looks like another tough loss for NCC:

NCC  62
Scranton  64
@ Daytona Beach

NCC was up 8 with 3:30 to go and let it slip away.  Only got 2 pts. and 5 rebs. from the bench tonight.  No Raridon in the lineup.

Q is right.  I should get the spelling correct for the 7:30 p.m. guys, especially one I admire so much.  I stand corrected and properly chastised.  Sorry, Eliud!  I'll consult the roster more carefully in future.  Why do you think I reverted to "Kman."?  Yes, Ypsi is right too, I'm not so young, love posting but don't want to always check the spelling of names in perfect detail.  Please forgive.  My bad.  At least all you guys knew who I was talking about, heh?   At least my eye sight is still good enough to observe the games carefully and hopefully have something useful to offer on this board, as a result.

NCC losing again.  My case about them is getting stronger by the game.  Yes, I know they have injuries etc. but it would be hard to say that they have really come together in any impressive way as a team so far.    I do believe IWU, on the other hand, has markedly improved from the beginning of the season and has sorted out the rotation, the roles and found greater consistency deeper into the rotation than in earlier games.  And, more good things from various parts of the rotation are surely to come.  IMHO.

Merry Christmas to all . . . and good luck to both Titan squads on their late December trips East and West.

Not so fast my friend! NCC's record a year ago after 9 games...3-6.  This year's record after 9 games...4-5. Again, its still too early to say that this team is "very disappointing". Now with Raridon out of the line up, NCC is drastically different from a year ago. No Evans, no Burchett, no Smith, and now no Raridon means NCC were with out 4 of its top 8 in the rotation from a year ago.  We all knew they would lose Evans. However, when you lose 2 from your top 7, and all 5 starters have missed some time on the floor due to injury means this. Is not the same team from a year ago.

I'm starting to believe the 2011-12 Cards need to be judged by what it is able to accomplish this season alone because its a different team.
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

Augie had a similar clunker of a win over a lightly-regarded MWC neighbor last season. The only difference is that it was Monmouth rather than Knox. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you, augiefan.

I didn't see anything in the QC Times today about Voiles.

How about three cheers for Millikin? The Big Blue snapped a 28-game losing streak and gave Matt Nadelhoffer his first win as the MU head coach as they beat Cornell yesterday in Mount Vernon, IA, 58-57. It came on the heels of a 33-point loss to Coe the day before, which in a way makes it even more impressive. Brock Van Nordeck had 14 points, while Kelvin Jacobs and Jaelen Jones had nine apiece. That's a good sign for MU, as it means that the team's newbies are starting to step up and fill the team's many holes.

Augustana played without one of its regulars, Bryant Voyles. "He's had some tenderness in his shin and we wanted to be cautious," said Giovanine. "He could be ready to go for the next game," at Carver Center versus MacMurray on Dec. 30.

The most disappointing thing about the game last night was that even without Derek Raridon, the game was there for the Cardinals taking.
The starters can't play the entire game, but they may as well. Absolutely no support from the bench. 2 whole points in 35 minutes of PT--Ridiculous. Just my probably crazy idea, but maybe its time to see what some of the bench players who haven't been used at all or very minimally, can do.   :-\
Sloppy play from the entire team--20, count 'em, 20 TOs (Twice as many as assists)!--Ridiculous. Maybe my frustration coming out.   :-\

On the injury front, things won't get any better soon. You should (or maybe shouldn't) see Derek Raridon's foot/ankle. Gross!
No way will Derek, who was injured in the Benedictine game Sat night, will play tonight either, and i wouldn't be surprised if he is still not able to play against Manchester on 12/30. I can only hope he'll be able to go against Carthage in the CCIW opener on 1/4.

And if you don't think playing games without Kevin Gillespie, Aaron Tiknis, and now 2 (or more) without Derek Raridon makes a difference, think again. Also, Landon Gamble, and CJ Goldthree are not, and haven't been near 100%. Not excuses, but facts, and important factors in NCC's record to date. Do the Cards need other players to step up, and to get better play throughout their roster, top to bottom? YOU BET.
