Yes, IWU wins 84-45, making 14 treys, with Zimmer getting 3 more, firmly into third place all-time career in shooting treys.  Oswald had 4 treys in about 4 minutes, becoming the leading scorer for the game!  Go Oz, feasting on a zone.  Titans shoot 60%.  Gonzalez with 9 assists, strong game.

Com'in home to finish off the season with Elmhurst.  Senior night for Zimmer, Rudnicki, Gonzalez and Kman.

PINK night fades to GREEN night.

I think 14 Titans scored tonight, with the top scorer only with 12 of the 84 points.

Firmly tied with Sean Johnson for third. :)

TitansIWU, Indeed!  Glad I don't have to look it up . . . probably make another mistake.  Can rely on you now.

Looking forward to some more bombs on senior night.  Looks like Oswald was out bombing Jordan tonight. :)  Gotta love . . . though, of course it was Millikin and a zone "defense."

All good.

A surprise (to me, at least) in Elmhurst: Elmhurst 84, Carthage 71.  The Jays had 4 players with 15 or more points; the RedMen were pretty much Malcolm Kelly.

iwu70

Yes, surprised by that EC-CC score too.  EC will be tough this Saturday, senior night or no.  Gotta be ready to finish off the season strong.

Ypsi, did you see that Forrest Frank, long-time IWU faculty members has passed away at 74?  Don't know if you had him for classes or not.  Very sad.

More later.

No, I didn't know Professor Frank (and I assume he was pretty new when we were there), but that is too damned young!  What did he teach?

iwu70

Ypsi, yes, he started just before our time, taught 34 years, been retired for some years.  He taught chemistry, forensic sciences, crime and chemistry . . . influenced many many natural science and pre-med students . . . in our class, folks like Janie Snell, Bill Morrison, David Goss, the Schoenwald twins, Joe Lauher etc. . . many many more after our time.   A lovely guy, very dedicated teacher.  One of IWU's best over many decades.   Gone too soon.  See iwu.edu for write-up on Prof. Forrest Frank.

The bigs on Carthage have pretty much disappeared.  Kelly has been carrying Carthage all year.  The rebounding tonight was beyond putrid.

At least I'm encouraged by the growth of Logan, but otherwise, this team is a mess.

Carthage was anything but impressive tonight.  They implemented a trapping zone for much of the game that Elmhurst had the occasional problem with but for the most part led to Elmhurst getting a lot of easy looks and a lot of offensive rebounds.  Very uninspired performance by the Red Men (even Kelly disappeared in the second half) but give the Blue Jays credit because they definitely wanted the win on senior night.  Especially impressive given that the Blue Jays were up three when Boyd went to the bench with his fourth foul early in the second half and Elmhurst went +8 with him on the bench.  Great shooting night for Foster and Robertson.

In anticipation of tomorrow's second batch of regional rankings I would expect nothing to change regarding the order of the CCIW teams since each team lost but Wheaton ended up at the top of the pecking order at the end of the week.  We might see Augie crawl in at the bottom of the rankings but I think nothing really changes for the CCIW teams.  Wheaton definitely has the worst loss of those three but having beat North Central on the road who had just beaten IWU on the road, it's hard to justify any change.

Also congrats to Coach Raridon and the Cardinals for wrapping up a share of the CCIW title tonight.

..not so tough to do in a comparatively not so tough CCIW this year - almost half of the teams fell in a category of "pure junk".
