Mr. Ypsi

The video did nothing but 'buffer' from halftime on, and livestats crapped out with 2:22 to go, but with IWU up by 20, am I safe in assuming they won?

Yes, they won. It was by 19.

TitansIWU, thanks for your kind help with the Zimmer watch, Zimmer count, to help my feeble, non-numeric mind!  Much appreciated.  He's climbing up the mountain for sure, trey by trey by trey.  Four of them tonight and a very good game.  Can't believe Sager thinks Zimmer is not one of the top, elite shooters in DIII hoops with these numbers.  Just dumb.

Great game tonight, overall team effort with alot of good D.  With 2 minutes to go in the first half, EC had only 17 points.  Strong game by Gonzalez, Rudnicki and Kman, too -- all good for senior night.  Very happy the way IWU puts on senior night, honoring all the seniors and their families, from the band, cheer squad, dance squad, and, of course, the varsity basketball team.  A lovely, classy night at the Shirk.

Thanks to all the seniors and their families!

Any score on Augie and Carthage?

As expected, North Central dominated Millikin this afternoon and cruised to a 91-58 victory to finish 12-2 in the conference and secure the outright CCIW basketball championship title for 2011-2012. Its the first outright title for NCC since 1990. Last season, they shared the title with Augustana at 11-3.
The Cardinals unleashed an onslaught of threes against the Big Blue, establishing a new all-time, single game, school record of 15 made 3 pointers for the contest. Senior PG Kevin Gillespie, who along with fellow senior Ryan Broyles was honored before the game, and soph 2 guard Vince Kmiec led the barrage as each hit 5 of 8 shots from beyond the arc.
For the game, the Cards 3 point percentage of 60% actually slightly topped their overall shooting percentage of 57.9%
NCC shot an incredible 71% in the 1st half, including 73% on threes to hold a 34 point (57-23) halftime lead. The lead reached 50 in the 2nd half, at which time, Coach Todd Raridon began substituting liberally.
The Cards were led in scoring by Gillespie with 17. He was followed by Kmied with 15, and CJ Goldthree with 11. Landon Gamble and Charlie Rosenberg each added 10. Rosenberg led in rebounds with 6. Gillespie was the assist leader with 6.

NCC WILL NOW HOST THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT NEXT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE 2ND AND 3RD SEEDS WILL PLAY AT 5:00, FOLLOWED BY NORTH CENTRAL AND THE NUMBER 4 SEED AT 7:00.

Seems Augie escaped Carthage in OT 74-73.  Carthage played alot of teams very tough this year, but couldn't finish.

And Carthage loses by 1 to Augie in OT.

3 losses in OT at home this year.

Excuse me while I go try to expund this season from my memory...

You may need better internet service.  I watched the entire 2nd half with no buffering.

Sorry, bopol, always tough to lose in OT.  For sure.

IWU moves to 19-6, with a good, senior night win over Elmhurst tonight.  Now we wait to see what the CCIW tournament seeding holds, I guess after the AC-WC game on Tuesday.

Keep getting wins, keep building the resume for selection day.

My thanks and appreciation to all the IWU seniors as well.  Have enjoyed watching them all play, and play so well.  Much appreciated.  Zimmer, Kman and  Rudnicki, all great and all key at points.  But, as you'all know on this board, I'm a great fan of the way Eliud Gonzalez plays the game -- hardnose, smart, great on-ball D, orchestrating the entire Titan offense, running the floor, and making just some gorgeous passes, including several more lovely assists tonight, via great court vision, knowing where his teammates are, esp. passes to Ziemnick and Reed.  A great style of play, enjoyment for all of the Shirk fans to appreciate.

Sure hope we can make some noise in the CCIW tournament.

If you're talking about an elite shooter, Bob, then attempts (and, thus, shooting percentage) have to figure into the discussion. I have never seen a discussion of shooters that didn't involve shooting percentage.

Being ranked eighteenth in the NCAA in makes says a lot for Zimmer's endurance and for his capability of getting off his shot at this level. But it doesn't make him an elite shooter.

Whether you want to call him excellent, elite, or whatever, I call Jordan Zimmer a scary shooter because it seems just about every time he lets one go, you're scared its going in.   ;)

Congrats to NCC on back to back CCIW titles...now we need to validate our regular season by winning the CCIW tournament!  Go Cards!!!
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

Zimmer is one of eleven players in all of NCAA D1, D2, and D3 who have made 80+ 3's and made 42% or more...

1. Jaime Smith, Ala-Huntsville (D2), 83-159 (.522)
2. Nick Barbour, High Point (D1), 98-201 (.488)
3. Reggie Chamberlain, UMKC (D1), 91-188 (.484)
4. Jon Van Hoose, Northern Ky (D2), 84-185 (.454)
5. John Jenkins, Vanderbilt (D1), 96-214 (.449)
6. Jordan Miller, Pitt-Johnstown (D2),  80-179 (.447)
7. Jamie Karraker, MIT (D3), 92-211 (.436)
8. Kenny Boynton, Florida (D1), 86-198 (.434)
9. Nick Haynes, Concordia, TX (D3), 94-218 (.431)
10. Felix Llanos, Clarkson (D2), 97-227 (.427)
11. Jordan Zimmer, Ill. Wesleyan (D3), 85-201 (.423)

I'm still comfortable calling him "elite."

It seems to me that one of Carthage's main problems this year is an over dependence on Malcom Kelly. Kelly has scored 27.6% of his team's points this season. Tonight he was held to 12 points on 4 of 13 shooting, including 1 for 6 on threes. 3 teammates outscored Kelly. I don't think odds favor a CC victory when this occurs. Hold Kelly in check and you stand a good chance of picking up a W vs CC.

Augie survived 21 TOs, AND a "Team" technical. Team huh?  ;)

Titan Q

So if Augie wins Tuesday...

1. North Central
2. Augustana
3. Wheaton
4. Illinois Wesleyan

If Wheaton wins...

1. North Central
2. Wheaton
3. Illinois Wesleyan
4. Augustana

Right?

Although we blame Comcast for most of our ills, in this case I think it is a dying computer. :P

We sometimes lose cable TV and internet service entirely, which (if we call Comcast directly), they try to blame on internal sources.  Fortunately we have the direct number for a Comcast guy who knows it is our vicious neighborhood squirrels!  He is always right, and restrings our (thoroughly squirrel-eaten) wires. 8-)

But this time I had no problems except for not getting the broadcast.
