The video did nothing but 'buffer' from halftime on, and livestats crapped out with 2:22 to go, but with IWU up by 20, am I safe in assuming they won?

You may need better internet service.  I watched the entire 2nd half with no buffering.
Nah - Ypsi just needs to run new string between the two tin cans connecting his service

You don't know Ypsi squirrels - they can eat that string faster than I can put it out! :P

One perhaps overlooked fact regarding IWU's career leaders in 3-point shots: Before tonight's game, Keelan Amelianovich was 1st with 252, Korey Coon 2nd with 245, and Jordan Zimmer and Sean Johnson tied for 3rd with 238 (now Zimmer is in third place and Johnson is 4th). However, Amelianovich did not start and did not play significant minutes as a freshman. He scored only 27 points his freshman year. So Keelan basically made 252 3s in just 3 years. Amazing. And yes, I would call Jordan Zimmer an elite shooter, one of the best pure shooters I have seen in the CCIW. And so was Michael Barach (have to keep Greg happy).

I guess IWU fans want to see Wheaton beat Augie Tuesday and then see NCC beat Augie Friday night. I'm assuming that would take Augie out of Pool C consideration. If NCC beats IWU in the tournament championship game Saturday, I'm assuming IWU would be a solid Pool C team and Wheaton would also probably get a late Pool C entry. Is my reasoning correct? I know a lot of other things would help get 3 CCIW teams in, like Wash. U, Lake Forrest, and Transylvania winning automatic Pool A bids.

So if Augie wins Tuesday...

1. North Central
2. Augustana
3. Wheaton
4. Illinois Wesleyan

If Wheaton wins...

1. North Central
2. Wheaton
3. Illinois Wesleyan
4. Augustana

Right?

I believe that to be correct Q.  Augie would come out of the three-way tie because of their sweep and Wheaton would be next due to the sweep of North Central.
You win some, you lose some, and sometimes it rains.

Transylvania's loss tonight to Bluffton might leave an opening for some upward movement for the CCIW trio in the regional rankings.

And Carthage loses by 1 to Augie in OT.

3 losses in OT at home this year.

Excuse me while I go try to expund this season from my memory...

Seems Augie escaped Carthage in OT 74-73.  Carthage played alot of teams very tough this year, but couldn't finish.

IWU70

It seems to me that one of Carthage's main problems this year is an over dependence on Malcom Kelly. Kelly has scored 27.6% of his team's points this season. Tonight he was held to 12 points on 4 of 13 shooting, including 1 for 6 on threes. 3 teammates outscored Kelly. I don't think odds favor a CC victory when this occurs. Hold Kelly in check and you stand a good chance of picking up a W vs CC.

Augie survived 21 TOs, AND a "Team" technical. Team huh?  ;)

Yes and No.  There were plenty of games that stopping Kelly was all you had to do to win, but last night, there were good efforts from most of the other starters and Pierce (Cary, Thompson and Pierce all were in double digits in scoring and active on offense).  The rebounding was bad last night and the D by the bigs was lacking for Carthage.  I didn't really get what happened on the T, so I can't comment.

Thoughts:
* Donte Logan needs to figure out when he can take his shot because he passes up good shots to pass first.  Some of his TOs last night were trying to force the ball to Kelly when taking the shot would be the preferred course.  I like his play and figuring out the balance will probably be the difference between being an average CCIW PG and all-league.
* The rebounding was horrible at the end of the season, especially on the defensive boards.
* The TOs were legit.  Carthage plays a pressure D which forces TOs because of their guards.  The trouble is, when they don't get the TO, the D on the inside is usually pretty bad, so if you have a Gonzalez, you can beat the pressure D and then feed your bigs and chew Carthage up.
* Luke Johnson has a lot of promise, but still has a long way to go to being a top notch player.  He is still a project even though his numbers were pretty good this year.
* I really don't understand how Bosko can keep Marlon Senior on the bench an entire game and then put him in during crunch time (the last few minutes of regulation) against North Central and Augie and keep Mitch Thompson on the bench.

I will keep tweaking this I'm sure, but as a starting point, here is how I see things right now...

Keep in mind, with the usual number of "bubble burster" upsets, you really need to be in the upper half of the current Pool C picture to feel somewhat comfortable with your position.

Huge game today in Manhattan - Wash U @ NYU (11:00am CST).

http://www.gonyuathletics.com/index.aspx?path=mbball

Is it just me or does their video stream have the appearance of a game from 1950 somewhere?

If I see Chuck Taylor's being worn, then I know I am watching an archive game.

I'm not convinced that Augie is getting into the regional rankings this week.  I took the data from last week and calculated the traditional RPI and found that Augie is just 14th in the region (SOS is killing them).  I think Grinnell (who beat Lake Forest yesterday for their 2nd win against a regionally ranked team) and Concordia (who was 6th in the region despite the weak SOS) may still be ahead of Augustana.

Titan Q

Wash U wins the UAA championship (and Pool A bid) in a thriller @ NYU.  The Bears gave up about a 7-point lead with 6:00 or so to play and went down 5 with a a couple minutes left.  But down the stretch NYU missed FTs, had a big turnover, missed a layup, and gave up some big offensive rebounds.

Very good news for CCIW Pool C hopefuls...Wash U will not need to be at the Pool C table on Selection Sunday.

Grinnell was 0.465 coming into this week and Augie was 0.460.  Grinnell's only game was at home vs. Lake Forest, while Augie's was on the road at Carthage.  That gap should stay about the same or widen just slightly for next week's rankings.
