Greg, so is this how you would like the regional rankings to work or do I just not understand?

Example with 4 ranked teams and then a 5th team that is the first out of the rankings.  If they first decide these rankings with the 4 criteria and leave out vs.RRO to start, we have this scenario:

1. Team A
2. Team B
3. Team C
4. Team D

out of rankings
5. Team E

so now the committee adds in vs. RRO results and maybe it looks like this:

1. Team A  2-0
2. Team B  2-0
3. Team C  1-1
4. Team D  0-2

out of rankings
5. Team E  1-0

So would you propose to just then ONCE reorder the teams?  What if the committee now thought Team E should move into 4th place and with Team D moving out of the rankings?  That's fine but then you would need to recalculate the vs. RRO records, right?  Lets say in the example that Teams A & B both beat Team D, well now Team D is 5th and not ranked, so we need to reduce their records to both 1-0.  Doesn't this seem like a possible never-ending circle?

Just curious what you are really getting at?

Pat Coleman

In all honesty, I am pretty sure the committee used to be able to do this.

As I thought. Jessee would have a hard time getting many obscenities out between yawns.   :)

I was there too and was sitting a couple of rows back behind the scorer's table. Chris is right - it was clearly grey. He continued on with the ref to state that a double foul "is never a good call".

In light of recent postings about grey's sideline comportment, many of which I've agreed with, I have to say that he was on his best behavior at the Wheaton game the other night......other than the barnyard explosion.  Less ranting and out of control sideline behavior than I've seen out of him in the past. Less foot-stomping and fewer "instructions" yelled out milliseconds before an opponent's free throw.

Don't his antics make watching an Augie game even more enjoyable? You never know when he will explode. ;D ;D I wish I could go to Friday's game, but cheerleader daughter's last bball game is Friday and daughter/son-in-law are heading in to watch and then go to track meet on Saturday. I'm sure AndOne will give the latest updates on Mr. G's behavior on Friday! ;D

Also, there was a cheer from the students last night that is sure to entertain or irk some in this room. "Worse than North Park" went on for a while.

That's lazy cheer section research.  A quick look at the CCIW webpage could have led to better chants like, "We want Millikin (clap, clap, clap clap clap)"  or "We beat Elmhurst twice."

Hahahahahahahahaha!

I'm not the least bit irked by it. I think that some of you have missed the intent of the cheer. On Saturday night Wheaton dumped NPU by 16 points. Last night, Wheaton had a lead that was well into the 20s when that cheer started. The cheer thus meant (or at least this was how I interpreted it when I heard it), "Wheaton's beating your team by more than it beat the seventh-place team three nights ago," not, "Your team is worse than the seventh-place team." I'm sure that I'll get accused of having royal-blue-and-gold ears for interpreting it that way, ;) but, given the close proximity between Saturday night's game and Tuesday night's game, that seems to me to be the logical interpretation.

It still doesn't make North Park look good. But, then again, why should I or any other NPU fan protest that? Our team was bad, bad, bad this season, and it certainly reached an epic level of baditude at King Arena last Saturday.

It was just funny-that's all-just funny.

I actually interpreted it the same way, but I still thought it was lazy.  Glad newcardfan got a laugh though.

Sometimes I'm very easily amused ;D  People just need to lighten up a little and laugh-it's good for you. ;D ;D  Does anyone on this board know how to add a picture to the profile? Thanks

I will answer this question honestly.

If IWU is playing Augie and winning by 10 and GG is going nuts, it is fun to watch him get all crazy.

If Augie is winning by 30 and he is still ranting over some meaningless part of the game, then it is not so much fun.

I am already putting on the green glasses for this weekend.

one of the best posts of the year - by far - unfortunately i gave you a +K yesterday - so I have to wait awhile to reward this wonderful zinger.  :)

I don't think Augie's poor performance at Wheaton on Tuesday was a surprise. I don't buy the "Augie just had a bad game" theory. Following is the number of points Augie has scored on the road in CCIW play: 64 (@ Millikin);  63 (2 IWU); 55 (@ Elmhurst); 41 (@ NCC); 59 (@ NPU); 74 (in overtime @ Carthage). That's an average of 59 points per game.  Against IWU and NCC on the road , Augie's average point total was only 52. Augustana has demonstrated that scoring on the road is a huge problem. Scoring in the low 50s against NCC Friday would be a step-up for the Augustana offense.

Regarding the Wheaton/IWU game Friday, one factor to consider is Wheaton's performance at NCC. I think that Wheaton's win there on Feb. 11 was their first win at Gregory Arena since 2004 (I might be wrong about that-If so please corrrect me). Wheaton lost to Augustana at NCC last year in the conference tournament. Gregory Arena can be a very tough place to play. I doubt if this factor will have a major impact on the Wheaton/IWU game on Friday as IWU played it's poorest CCIW game at NCC in January (an 82-69 win by NCC). The game could easily turn into a defensive struggle.

IMHO: Wheaton has been a different and better team since they have focused on the passing the ball more issue.  The coaches have noted it since the NCC game in after game interviews.  The biggest factor is teams just cant focus on Mcrary and expect to win.  If they play like they have been they have a good chance winning one or both games. As I posted before Wheaton can go as far as their passing game takes them.
Go Wheaton!

"passing game"?

where's Keith Bishop and Steve Thonn when you need them?   :)

TO: GOThunder:  Wheaton is best when they RUN and Pass! And not when they run a slow down, make 15 passes, in an half court offense, that's easy to defend!
