You're leaving out a primary criterion, Bob: In-region common opponents.

Lake Forest (6-0): Defeated Chicago, Carthage, Ripon (twice), and Illinois College (twice)
Illinois Wesleyan (4-1): Defeated Chicago, Carthage (twice), Illinois College, lost to Ripon

Excellent research, once again, provided by Mr. Sager.  This two-three day period is always rife with hopes, dreams, and subjective thinking.  Mr. Sager, unsurprisingly, has nailed the facts once again.

I think Mr Q is doing some wishful thinking---or perhaps a bit of campaigning?  :o  :-X

Based on the data, and the way the process works, it is no stretch to call IWU #18, #19, #20, or #21.  I've got 19 rounds worth of data on the Pool C board...just comes down to some subjective decisions by the committee at the very end.

I've considered every nugget of criteria Greg, I promise, and I think IWU vs Lake Forest is basically a coin flip.

Gregory Sager

You hadn't mentioned common opponents in any of your previous assessments, including the LFC vs. IWU comparison you made at 5:30 this afternoon, which is why I pointed it out.

Had an interesting discussion regarding tournament seating with a Wheaton fan prior to last night's championship game.
Seeing me resplendent in Cardinal attire, and evidently believing I had some influence with regard to seating apportionment, he expressed to me his indignation that the entire section of the black folding chairs on the risers were being occupied by NCC fans. I advised this gentleman, who turned out to be the dad of one of the Wheaton players, that tournament seating is determined by the conference and not by the host institution, and that the section in question went to the higher seed. He indicated in that case, in the interest of "fairness" and hospitality, he felt NCC should voluntarily give up half of the section. I reminded him that Friday evening Wheaton, as the higher seed, had the entire section in question and inquired if he had invited any Wesleyan fans to join him. I guess those guys from Wilmette are used to getting what they want,  :)

LOL! Best laugh I've had all day! Thanks, Mark.

Does school reputation play any part in the selection?

only if your Augustana - in the positive

and wheaton - in the negative

but then again i believe in conspiracy theory  ;)
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Another sidelight from last evening's championship game----

Not to be overly patriotic, but this event was cool enough to unite the entire house, Wheaton and NCC fans combined.

A young lady, a member of the NCC dance team, was introduced to sign the National Anthem. She performed in the same capacity a time or two previously this season and did a wonderful job. Almost immediately when she began signing, the audio equipment in the hanger malfunctioned, both drowning out the singer, and sending a resounding echo bouncing off the walls. The singer bravely continued, alone against the cavernous hanger without the benefit of amplification except for a second or two on an infrequent basis. After about a quarter of the Anthem, with the sound system still malfunctioning, the entire crown suddenly, as if on que, began signing along with the young lady, and continued together throughout the remainder of the Anthem to its conclusion. VERY COOL!  8-)   8-)   8-)

As much as I like hearing the young talent and sometimes groups that colleges like to have sing the anthem, I really enjoy hearing a whole gymnasium singing together.  It doesn't happen often enough anymore.

LOL. I'll admit that I was kind of like "whatever" to the comments about our students storming the court last time we met up. But as much as this may get me in trouble, this is kinda embarrassing in a hilarious kind of way. Hahaha...  :-[

In the interest of hospitality, couldn't you have let us have equal rebounds, 3pt shooting% and score to you too?  8-)

There is no way, after the CCIW lost so many key games out of conference, that we'll get three teams in. I just don't see it. Good to see no one lost their green colored glasses while I was gone. :P Who is the Midwest chair right now?

Where do you guys think NCC will end up in the final secret (are they still secret?) regional rankings? Didn't there used to be a Midwest Region board to discus these things? Where did that go?? NCC is faar from the worst gym of anyone who has ever hosted and I think it would be pretty cool for them if they got it.

thunder38

likely the official knockout blow for IWU...Whitewater drops the WIAC championship game.

I think with the losses by Transy, Lake Forest, and Whitewater, Wheaton's host chances might have just gone up since they will likely remain the #2 in the region.

I would expect NCC to ship down to Wash U or possibly over to Hope.  Odds leaning towards Wash U.

diehard- the men's final regional rankings will be revealed monday...the women's committee has so far decided not to follow suit

AndOne:  You provided the perfect answer to the dad of one of the players of the #2-seeded team.  My question is:  Is your reference to "Wilmette" an implication of which player is the son of the dad in question?  Wheaton has one player -- and  an awfully good one at that -- from Wilmette on its roster.  Or is "Wilmette" just a reference to the people who think they deserve better treatment than others?  Just wondering.
