I know it's early, but anyone have any insight into how NCC matches up with RH? I have a couple of friends who went to RH and would love nothing more than to give them the business after the game.

I don't really know anything about the Engineers' personnel, but I can pass along how they and the Cards have done against common opponents:

Millikin lost to RHIT by 21, lost to NCC by 37 and 33
Manchester lost to RHIT by 30 and by 3, lost to NCC by 24

CCIW ALUM

NCC lost to St. Norbert's in the first round of the 1984 NCAA D 3 tournament, the next night in the consolation game, NCC won at UW Whitewater vs Illinois Wesleyan, 1985 NCC lost to UW Whitewater in the First Round and Lost in a Consolation game to Monmouth.  In 1989 NCC beat Millikin in the first round before losing in the Regional Final to UW Whitewater. In 1990 NCC lost to Illinois Wesleyan for the right to go to the sweet sixteen.

Congrats to the 3 CCIW teams who earned a bid to the D3 NCAA tourney!
Good luck to each of them!

Great atmosphere Saturday night at Merner fieldhouse!  I thought the roof was going to pop off after a few of those Cardinal threes in the 2nd half.  The student sections were awesome!

Man, it was hot!

What does anyone think the odds are for an NCC/Wheaton rematch down the road? Pat seems to think it is possible.

It is possible since both are on opposite ends of the bracket. That's all that's saying.
Should have phrased that differently-didn't say you picked them-only that if things worked out right (for NCC and Wheaton) they could meet again. I don't bet since I always lose:(:(:(

If I was an oddsmaker, I'd set it at about 100-1.

So you're sayin' there's a chance!! ;D

Congrats to IWU for getting in! I guess we don't need to argue about whether we should get rid of the conference tournament anymore, hahaha... (this board seriously needs an angel face)

I don't agree with the logic that NCC shouldn't host due to their gym, and it goes back to the whole argument that Lawrence, in its heyday, shouldn't host because the gym was sooo small. It's super anti in the spirit of D3. Just like it would be unfair if Wheaton got to host because their gym was nicer and they were lower ranked. But I didn't think that either CCIW school would get it based on merit. Now if Wheaton had taken care of Carthage, and hosted the conference tourney, and won, and.... yeah...

BTW, The best part of the whole bracket is that VA Wesleyan is the top seed in Wheaton's Bracket, and that just happens to be 3 hours from my house. Win two games! You can do it!! :D :D :D

Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan

Speaking of Lawrence and tiny Alexander Gym, you might want to note that VWC's Batten Center only seats 1,100 fans. That means that, as was the case when Lawrence hosted a sectional, you'd probably have to buy two tickets for the sectional semis if VWC hosted, since a gym that small would probably be forced to hold a split session.

(Apropos of nothing, I love the Batten Center's nickname: The Fish Tank.)

Not to burst April's hopeful Sweet 16 viewing bubble, but I see that bracket being hosted in the Midwest which would require probably 2 flights and one bus ride......vs 3 plane rides to Va Wesleyan.

Root for Claremont.....if they advance that bracket could require 3 flights, then Va W has something going. :)

The IWU/Stevens Point game will feature a Zimmer, a Ziemer, and a Ziemnik.

Not to look down the road but since April is looking down the road ;) If Wheaton came out of that bracket with Wash U, Va. Wesleyan, and Whitewater...Geographically Wheaton would be the sensible host.  That being said if, River Falls advances, it would likely be VWC or Wash U, probably Wash U because of potential flights.

Why? UWW, Wheaton, and Wash U are all within 500 miles of each other. And each has a gym that's more than adequate to host a sectional.

I don't think that anyone's ever cited "proximity to a major airport" as being part of the geographical criterion, but Wash U is located more conveniently to Lambert Airport than Wheaton is to O'Hare or Midway.

Anyway, it's a moot point. Wash U is on the other side of the bracket, in the Great Lakes-oriented section that includes the Wooster, Transy, and Hope pods.
