Ypsi, glad you can make it to DeVos.  A grand palace for DIII hoops, right up there with The Shirk.  Titans have a tough draw, but let's hope they can really have a couple of great games, at the top of their game, and shock the Pointers and #1 Hope.  Would be something to enjoy for sure.

Also, glad to see NCC finally getting their due, their votes in the D3hoops.com poll.  As you know, I was a doubter pretty much all year, but the NCC team proved almost all of us wrong and deserves the top ranking of the CCIW top-tier teams for sure.  Let's hope they make some noise, too, along with Wheaton.

My congrats, too, for Jordan Zimmer and Tim McCrary on their nominations for Josten.  Richly deserved in both cases.

Enjoy Holland, MI. and DeVos.

Great atmosphere Saturday night at Merner fieldhouse!  I thought the roof was going to pop off after a few of those Cardinal threes in the 2nd half.  The student sections were awesome!

Man, it was hotdepressing! (Fixed)

Actually, when NCC made 4 consecutive 3 pointers within a span of only 2 minutes and 4 seconds the roof didn't pop off. But, the friction caused by the balls ripping through the nets so rapidly did cause sparks which ignited an abandoned bird nest in the hangar rafters and burned a small hole in the roof.
Thats why North Central was unable to serve as a host for this weekend's opening games despite the NCAA'a intense desire to have them do so.  :-X
The fact that your karma is so low is seriously criminal. This is at least the fifth time I have still been chuckling out loud at one of your posts minutes later.

2nd that! Once he gets in the zone-he's good. The problem is that some people don't like semi-sarcastic humor! ;D ;D It is very funny though. ;D ;D ;D

Thank you ladies.  :)

Often times hateful storm troopers from a neighboring galaxy sneak into my realm during the middle of the night or in the early morning hours and make off with a portion of my meager K stores.  ;)

Being basically the Chingachgook of NCC posters here, I often feel like Colonel Munro, the defender of Fort William Henry when he said "the situation is that his guns are bigger than mine and he has more of them. We keep our heads down while his troops dig 30 yards of trench a day. When those trenches are 200 yards from the fort and within range, he'll bring in his 15-inch mortars, lob explosive rounds over our walls, and pound us to dust."

I'll second that.

Although I distain reference to any of the three, much like Santorum, Romney, and Gringrich who have spent the last few weeks telling the voting public what bozos each other are, North Central, Wheaton, and Wesleyan now come together to preserve, protect, and defend the reputation of the CCIW against all outside forces of evil.   ;)

NCC lost to St. Norbert's in the first round of the 1984 NCAA D 3 tournament, the next night in the consolation game, NCC won at UW Whitewater vs Illinois Wesleyan, 1985 NCC lost to UW Whitewater in the First Round and Lost in a Consolation game to Monmouth.  In 1989 NCC beat Millikin in the first round before losing in the Regional Final to UW Whitewater. In 1990 NCC lost to Illinois Wesleyan for the right to go to the sweet sixteen.

All of which means nothing from 22-28 years later.   ;)

History always means something. The debate over how much or how little it means is where things get interesting. ;)

I know that Bob's usually the one who corrects your spelling, '70, but he doesn't seem to be logged on at the moment. Therefore, I took it upon myself to correct your spelling of the word "me". ;) ;D

Greg: I agree. I think CCIW history is a fairly important part of this board. Not all the time, but once in a while is good.
On another topic, I was trying to forget the 2006 fiasco of Alexander Gym and Lawrence College that was posted earlier. But that final 2006 game there betweeen IWU and Puget Sound was one of the best D3 games I have ever seen. At least this year, IWU gets to play in the sparkling Devoss (or is it DeVoss?) Fieldhouse. I just hope there aren't any Amway salespersons present Friday night at the games.

Close, but no cigar - it is DeVos. ;)

plus he was still building his damn fort when Montcalm showed up with his guns and indians - and Munro neglected to build his fort around the spring where they got there fresh water.

Lake George, though, is still one of the most beautiful lakes in the U.S.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

If I was an oddsmaker, I'd set it at about 100-1.

My program would set those odds closer to 500-1 but a darn good guess for just off the top of the head.  If you are interested I simulated the tournament 1 million times today and have the percentage of times each team made it to each round.  I'll be uploading those to my site tonight.  Individually, my program gives the following percent chance of each occuring for our CCIW teams:

Chance of reaching:        Sweet 16     Elite 8     Final Four      Championship        Nat. Champ

Wheaton                           30.2%       13.9%      7.2%                4.5%                   2.7%
NCC                                  31.5%       19.3%      8.3%                4.4%                   1.7%
IWU                                  17.2%       10.1%      6.4%                3.8%                   1.7%

The teams are ranked from best to worst in my system: 1) Wheaton  2) IWU  3) NCC

So, as you can see, NCC has the easiest road of the three teams in terms of getting to the second weekend.

Gregory Sager

Thanks for that interesting simulation data, a_s, but why did you rank the three CCIW teams that way?

Several of us are trying to not remember that Fiasco....though for very different reasons......

Understandable, but I was dead-solid sure LU would go from 25-0 to 25-1 that night.  I still can't believe Va Wes beat that IWU team in Salem. >:(

I didn't, those are the results from the entire season's data.  They are all pretty close to each other.  Overall, my system has them ranked #5, #13 and #23 (Wheaton, IWU and NCC)....it also still has Augie #9 which we know isnt true at this point so take it for what you will.
