"*" for Zimmer:

"He broke the career trey record with a bum foot"

Amazing performance by Jordan tonight . . . and all the Titans.  Kman, for me, was the man tonight, . . . and Victor Davis' key trey, before fouling out.  You can't say enough about Gonzalez and Rudnicki and how they manage the offense, make key plays.

Congrats again to Coach Rose and all the Titans.  Happy bus ride home after this one.  A very delightful visit to DeVos, hopefully the first of many to come.

Looks like the men might be going to Wooster or Wittenberg.  All shall be revealed by Monday.

IWU70

According to the, as augie_superfan correctly stated, obnoxious Wash U broadcasters, NCC will play Wittenberg, and Wesleyan will play Wooster. They didn't say where.   :-\

Hosts will be announced by the NCAA tomorrow.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TITANS 108
HOPE 101

I gotta do the math, but I think Zimmer with 7 3s is the all time 3 point shooter for IWU.
However, there will need to be an "*" by his record.

* broke record with a bad foot???
That...and he had to shoot further out than the guys he passed....

Do the math, April. Even with the outstanding 6-0 opening weekend, the league's still under .600 for the first time since 1997-98.

I think that what this might be showing is the fact that the league's top four was so even, and played so many close games against each other, that the three teams that made it into the dance were very well-tested in close-game situations. That, and previously-cold IWU is getting hot at the right time, not the first time that that's occurred under Ron Rose.

Good luck to all three CCIW teams this weekend as they "hit the road".

I agree with IWU70 (frame that G.S.) about you know what.

I also agree with G.S. that probably no overnight reservations will be needed by CCIW fans - I'd be surprised if any make it to the next weekend.

Congratulations to the CCIW on going 6-0!  Hey committee how about some CCIW teams hosting next week?
Go Thunder!

It's a pleasant surprise, but I think that the only real eye-opener here was IWU's upset of Hope. I knew that NCC was perfectly capable of taking down Wash U, even in St. Louis, and Edgewood cleared the path for Wheaton by upsetting UWRF last night. The Eagles are a doughty bunch, but they're not the kind of team that's going to pull off two big upsets on consecutive nights.

anyone know where I can get some cooked crow?

I don't like to eat it raw.

congratulations to the three CCIW teams for proving me wrong.

nothing like beat Hope & Wash U on the same day.
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Hope's announcers were students and I thought they were the most unbiased team I have heard all season, maybe in several seasons.

I agree.  They did a very good job.  They said things like "hopefully" and "unfortunately" a few times, but overall they were good.  My feed was great until the last minute of the game.

I didn't think much of the PBP guy, as he had a really hard time staying on top of the facts. But he was probably an inexperienced student, and you have to give student broadcasters credit for the effort if they've never done it before. Remember, Hope doesn't normally do webcasts. I thought that the colorperson (a female) was much better.

Definitely. And while you can't be expecting Gus Johnson or something, I think many people would rather (and have voiced this) have a more vanilla broadcast than a homer-ish, biased, complaining one.

Wish my team was in the mix as well, but I know I won't draw any sympathy from posters on this site.
I actually was thinking a few minutes ago that it sucks to be Augustana, since they beat all of these CCIW teams in the Sweet 16 at one point. Pity isn't exactly sympathy, but it's close. ;)

To be clear, I more meant that people thought CCIW teams were not or were barely Top 25 caliber, since that is the thing that people have been saying that has seemed the most outlandish to me in the last month or whatever since I came back to d3hoops.com land.

However, in the vein that you brought up, I still don't think the league doesn't have to be competitive 1-8 in order to be better than most conferences out there, even if that's more what we are used to. Most conferences only have a couple of teams that need to be taken seriously every year.

Although this may seem homer-ish on my part, I think that Wheaton's announcer, Rusty Lindsey, did a fantastic job last night by himself and tonight with Pat. I kept waiting for him to make some really pro-Wheaton comments, but they didn't come. A very informed and entertaining broadcast overall.

Rusty's pretty good. I just wish that someone would take him aside and explain to him what a jab step really is. ;)

Great win for the Thunder tonight, taking care of business.

Kind of a weird flow to the game. Tim came out dominant with 10 in the first 10 minutes, and then the offense went to sleep entirely until halftime. Ball movement stopped and Tim was contained without an option to pass to because of standing around. Fortunately they came out quick in the 2nd half and built a lead that seemed insurmountable, until Edgewood started pressing and causing turnovers like crazy. It didn't help that Wheaton struggled (and has over the last few games) at the line down the stretch. But all in all, a win is a win and the Thunder played well enough to keep the train running into the round of 16.

Congrats all the way around the league. It sure was a fun night to be on d3hoops.com with lots of tabs open!

Great job by the CCIW tonight!! If this is a "down" year I'll take it every year.  Mr. GS-yea Duke-one of my all-time favorites, along with UCLA and MSU. BTW-odds on a possible NCC/Wheaton rematch now? Good luck to everyone next week-end.
