2010-2011 D3Hoops 1st team all-american, and current NCC graduate assistant coach Ian Franks graduated from Wooster just last year. While at Woo, he naturally played against Witt throughout his career. As such, the Cardinals will hopefully be able to pick up some good "insider' information about Friday's, and possibly Saturday's, opponents.

You guys know all you need to know about Saturdays opponent!

;D ;D ;D

I did say "possibly" Sat's opponent. Didn't want to insult the hosts.   :)
And yes, after beating Wesleyan twice this season, the Cardinals do know a great deal about the green weanies, and about how dangerous they can be.   ;)

Yep, I saw possibly, and I just prefer to think positively about a Titan win.

Yes, NCC beat IWU twice this season.

At this point, and having seen them both play recently (remember, the theme of NCC is that we have to base our thoughts on how they play now) I expect a battle between the two, if they both get there.

I wish I had a cute NCC name, similar to your use of the 'green weanies', but I just don't have one.

Hoosier Titan

It's funny--both IWU teams (should they win on Friday) would be faced with matchups with tough CCIW opponents on Saturday (should they win on Friday).  The male Titans have lost twice to NCC, and the women have beaten Carthage three times by a total of six points.  The teams know each other so well.  I don't know which scenario I find scarier.

Gotta win Friday first!

Yes, we need a fun mocking moniker for the NCC Cardinals.  Hmmmmmm.  AndOne, any suggestions?  We have the Wheaties, the Doggies, the Green Weenies, but . . .  ???  Ypsi, any ideas?  Gurus?

One game at a time, Hoosier Titan!  Would also love to see those all-CCIW Sectional Finals -- both men and women -- in the Elite 8.  Wheaton has a tough road too, vs. #8 WIAC/Whitewater, then either #6 Va. Wesleyan or #7 Whitworth.  All @WI-WW.   No easy nights now.

#2 Amherst has a challenge out east as well, with #9 Franklin and Marshall @ F & M, (Amherst women playing at home this year) . . . then likely #3 MIT Engineers.  MIT is playing a team IWU beat out east, Staten Island of the CUNY system.

The other bracket looks like Cabrini vs. Middlebury @Middlebury . . . for the sectional crown . . . IMHO.

IWU70

P.S.  Still four undefeated teams in the women's Sweet Sixteen -- Amherst, Mary Washington, George Fox and University of Chicago.  Impressive.  One will go down Saturday night for sure, as Mary Washington and George Fox are bracketed to collide in the Sectional Final @Mary Washington.

Yes, I get confused with my "stooges."   Not Mitt, Newt and Rick?   :)

Oh well, back to basketball.

In my book, the 3 stooges are Obama, Reed and Pelosi!  They take the cake with goofy
ideas, leaving things in a mess and no one's should be laughing!

IWU70---

Suggestions? Me? Nope, no ideas at all.  :-X   ;)

Hoosier Titan---

Of course you're referring to the widely accepted adage that (given teams are close in talent levels) its very difficult to beat a team 3 times in the same season. Wheaton couldn't do it against either IWU or NCC. NCC had to fight like heck to complete a rare 3 game sweep of Augie with 1 decision being decided by only 2 points. As far as the CCIW teams left in the tourney, I'm sure none of them needs to see much, if any, more tape on the others to know exactly what they want to do.

I'm not sure if any other conferences have 3 teams in the final 16 left in the country. With such an achievement, it would have been nice if one of the CCIW teams could have at least hosted once. It seems like the NCAA is handing teams that get to host both a regional and a sectional a distinct advantage as far as an easier path to the final 4. Just another hurdle for us  CCIW visitors to overcome (again).

AO,

It's not so much the adage, although I'm certainly familiar with it.  It's having seen all three women's games and having seen the the men at Shirk.  The teams and coaches know each other so well at this point.  I guess familiarity is what the adage is referring to; it's just that I've rarely seen such balance.

IWU70,
I tried to make it very clear that I am not overlooking the Friday games.  It's just that these rounds are a matter of survival, and to survive the first game (hard enough) only to come up against an opponent who knows you very, very well is a tall order.  One game a time--which is what it should be all the time.

"Don't worry about the next game, worry about the next possession."

"Napervillains" . . . yes, it has a certain ring to it.  AndOne, you are so uncreative!

If it comes to NCC vs. IWU, that will be a good one, though NCC beat us twice already, and it wasn't all that close.  Hopefully, the Titans playing better, playing for more this time.  The "Napervilains" are a tough match up for the Titans, and they have the most coming back next year, too, right?  This good match-up is going to be around for a time.

If IWU and Carthage meet on the women's side, it will be the fourth match-up this year.  Pretty rare.  IWU 3-0 vs. the Lady Reds, but only 6 points difference IN THREE GAMES.

The Greenest of the Weenies.  :)

A villain (also known in film and literature as the "bad guy", "black hat", or "heavy") is an "evil" character in a story, whether a historical narrative or, especially, a work of fiction. The villain usually is the antagonist, the character who tends to have a negative effect on other characters. A female villain is sometimes called a villainess (often to differentiate her from a male villain). Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines villain as "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel; or a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot".[1]
