Having fractured my foot during a personal training session a little over a year ago, kept going for the rest of the session, and then woken up the next morning with so much pain I started crying like a baby, I have to give serious props to Jordan. I don't know how he's doing it.

Flying back to Omaha from Phoenix...WIFI onboard.  Posting from 35,000 above Durango.

I've always wanted to join the Mile High Club, so this is exciting.

Yikes... Mile High Posting Club, right???
I was wondering the same thing:)
There are a lot of people on here who post way too much, but I am pretty sure if any of them actually tried to post while having sex, they would probably never get any ever again. ;D
Um... who said he was posting during? :) :)
The original post was in present tense. Just saying... You can't accuse me of having a dirty mind because #1, I knew he was talking about posting, and #2, I am a Wheatie ;D

I'm just glad you didn't make me climb a ladder and cut down the net with my teeth.

Hah, is it bad that I don't actually remember the whole thing about swamp tennies??

Cardinal proposes a toast...."Join me in a toast to a great season to this point...raise your beer, Green Weenie, and your Club soda, Wheatie, as we celebrate the sweet 16 and the fact Augie isn't here!!"
:P ;D
This one is my favorite because I drink epic amounts of club soda. The 40ish bottles of wine I have in my collection at home would suggest that I am not really afraid of alcohol though. :P I even have some Guinness for Mugsy, but I just use it for cooking/baking. :-X

This board scrolls way too fast...

Does anyone know what day the teams leave for their various sectionals? I was thinking about whipping up a batch of cookies tonight when I get home from work... :D

At least it doesn't delete after 70 posts anymore. :)
??????????????????
Haha, so much truth in this statement. I could even go back and read all the posts from the time I was MIA... but I won't. :)

Newcardfan, the old boards "scrolled off" so if posts were coming fast and furious, you'd lose things that were the oldest when someone posted something new. After game nights the boards would scroll in less than an hour sometimes. This led to me archiving the boards, ie cutting and pasting them all into a document. People actually used to email me and ask me for the logs. I actually found them on my computer several months ago, at the same time that I found that pic I took of Greg eating his post. :D I should go through them and post exceprts of Greg and Q fighting. 8-)

Thunder fans,

Still plenty of tickets available for Friday's game.  Only 2 hours away.  Wheaton won there on their trip to the Elite 8 w/KRay.  Ticket office is very helpful and pleasant, don't be shy.
GO Thunder.  Got to help them get to Salem so April can see them.  :)
Haha, I actually realized that I can't go to Salem this year. :'( Biggest work event of the year is next Saturday, and while I have help this year from the old manager who is consulting for us, I have to do it solo next year so I can't really afford to miss it. :-\ I can't even fly to the sectionals because I am leading the singing for the Young Adult worship night at my church this Friday. I will do better at planning my schedule around d3basketball next year, hahaha...

If someone who is leaving on Friday for the games is up for bringing cookies to the guys, I will overnight you a big box tomorrow, and for your courrier fee you can keep some... :D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO not another Sageristic poster!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

DP, I feel your pain.  Perhaps you weren't an English major, right?  For me, it's usually Q who provides my spell-check, grammar check and "Greenie Weenie" corrections.  He even corrects my wayward opinions. Guess that says something about these two "Gurus of the Board."  Earlier in the year, I had trouble with "Gonzalez", and I don't even try on Kman, even now.  I've improved over the season, though, as practice makes perfect.  At least in future we just have Anderson and Davis and Dortch and Rose and Overstreet . . . alot easier.  I sound them out carefully before typing.  These guys coming up, on the deep bench of the Titans, are really going to make some noise in the future.  Mark my words (even if they are sometimes spelled incorrectly!).

Great to have FIVE CCIW teams in the second weekend, in the Sweet Sixteen.  Go CCIW, go GREENies.

Watch the Titan women go . . . they really have a good chance for the Final Four again, IMHO.  Plus, very easy to spell "Lett." :)  Watch the Titans "run and jump."  Great pressure, great defense.

NewCard, you must be new on the Board.  All of us old-timers are very used to DieHard and her Sageristic ways!  Her baking is much better than Greg's.

April, welcome back, glad you are around again.  Hope you somehow get to see some games in the next two weekends . . . and wishing your beloved Wheaties a good run all the way to the Final.  Would absolutely love to see a Greenie-Wheatie Final.  Whitewater will be a major hill to climb @WW this weekend.  Good luck to Wheaton and all the WC fans.  McCrary is such a great player . . . hope he has more games in this tourney run in him.

GO CCIW!!!

Here's a way to get those cookies to the Wheaton team.  My sister works in the Development Office at Wheaton and all the guys in the office go to the Wheaton games.  When I can go, I get my tickets through her.  Contact her at pamela.s.munn@wheaton.edu and she will know if she has someone going to the game Friday.  Then you can send the cookies to her at the office and she will get them carried to Whitewater.  I haven't told her about this so a little explanation may be needed (I'll copy this and send it to her).

I've heard that the "W" Association makes its members run around the perimeter of Timken Gym in their underwear if they misspell the name of a Wooster All-American. ;)

(I remember seeing Nelson play. He was a terrific forward.)

Luckily I'm not a member...  :P

I always forget Nelson was a Bryan with a y.  Bryan Wickliffe, who just graduated last year, was also a Bryan with a y and I get it in my mind that they both couldn't be Bryans with a y?!  Two good forwards for Wooster who spell Bryan with a y.  Must be a prerequisite to play PF at Wooster if your name is Brian, you have to spell it with a y...  :D

Probably very new compared to you guys! ;D I've only been around the CCIW since 2009 when my son enrolled at NC and have only been on the boards since october of 2009. The problem with those crazy posts is that i want to reply to all of the sections, but...my brain is way to fast for my fingers (or thumbs if i'm posting from my phone) I would hope her baking would be much better than Greg's ;D Should have a regular "meeting" of the boards somewhere. It might be nice to put some faces to the posters.....but then again... ;D ;D ;D

April, I would be more than happy to be your backup cookie delivery guy if your first option doesn't work out. I've got a senior at North Park and a freshman at Wheaton, which makes for some nice tension, particularly during soccer season! We'll be going up to whitewater for Friday and possibly Saturday and can make the delivery if Plan A falls through. Welcome back, by the way.

Mr. Ypsi

April, the swamp tennies must be from the bad old days of scroll off and gone forever (though perhaps they exist somewhere in your 'archives').  I vividly remember the term, though am hazy on the particulars.

They were a pair of tennis shoes you wore for field research (and that you termed 'swamp tennies').  My memory (NOT guaranteed to be reliable :P) is that you said you would eat them if such-and-such occurred (or didn't occur; don't remember which).  IIRC, it did (or didn't) occur, but you failed to eat the swamp tennies (which I confess was undoubtedly a moment of sanity)! ;D  It was quite the topic for a few days. ;)

Wow, NewCard, you really are a NewCardFan and newbie on the Board, too.  Seems appropriate.  Of course, glad to have you, welcome aboard the board.  Some of us have been here, lurking or posting for 10-15+ years.  Not exactly sure when D3hoops started and when some of us came on.  I'm pretty sure that Q and Sager are likely founding posters, perhaps Ypsi too?  Surely DP?  Not sure.  Some of the old hands, the really old white guys, old farts (like myself) have come on, then been off, just lurking about, then getting back on with more engagement and enthusiasm.  Some of it comes with the highs and lows of our programs.  Some of the true Veterans come back on, esp. during Tournament time . . . or when something very unusual or good happens.  Glad to see April/DieHard back around.  As you've seen, the true and knowledgeable posters like Sager and Q and a few others, really make it interesting.  Old guys like me are just super loyal fans of our programs and follow things locally mostly related to our own schools.  I don't really know all that much about the other programs, unless they come to The Shirk.  But, I sure do learn alot from guys like Q and Sager and TitanHammer and some good guys over on other boards, especially the CCIW women's board, which I also enjoy greatly, esp. during these last five years of such IWU success on the women's side.  Fun fun to watch, our women's team.  They really know how to play the game.  As a long time high school player, coach and ref, coaching my son in Hong Kong for many years, running "youth basketball programs" there, I still followed IWU hoops thanks to IWU's official sports site, Q's iwuhoops.com and, of course, this site.  I could do this all from Asia, from Hong Kong, and even watch the games after the advent of streaming video, though often I'd be watching at 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. in HK, even placing the video box in my computer screen at work!  (Don't tell on me OK?).  Titans have really had some great runs through the Dance since 1996, with the national championship in '97 and several third place showings in the early, mid 2000s.  Our women made the Sweet Sixteen, Elite 8 and then, last year, the Final Four hosted at Shirk, so that's been grand too.  IWU hoops has a grand tradition, going back to the eras of Coach Horenberger and then Coach Bridges.  In my day (I was a student at IWU '66-70), we'd go to the national tourney in Kansas City and we did that two of my four years -- with the amazing teams featuring Tommy Gramkow, Fred Evans and Sheldon Thompson.  All those games were basically "David and Goliath" type encounters -- like with Kentucky State -- and we even played some DI schools and, of course ISU, in those years.  My senior year was the last year we played ISU and, as you may have heard when nostalgia enters in here on this board, IWU did beat ISU in that last game, on a last second, from the top of the key jumper, by Tommy Gramkow, to send the Titan faithful home happy and into history with the last game played vs. ISU.  (at the old Horton Fieldhouse in Normal, as ISU had decided to end the long run of Blo/No games between IWU and ISU, as they moved "up" to DII, now I guess DI, in MVC).  That was the game when a live white chicken was tossed onto the floor just before tipoff, with the Titan students unfurling a sign saying, "The Real Redbird."   Some great times, great memories.  So, older Titan fans do appreciate, take seriously the history and traditions of the IWU basketball program, and want to build on that grand tradition.  Let's hope this weekend will be another happy chapter, as last weekend surely was at DeVos and at Thomas More in KY.

Hope your Cards have a glorious weekend, too, save for when they run up against Green.  Really happy for the CCIW this year and seeing three men's teams and two women's teams/programs do so well, advance so far.  Our women may face the Carthage women, too, in the Sectional finals, if the stength of the CCIW continues to demonstrate itself.

IWU70

IWU and ISU still play each other in baseball.

Okay, so true story, and it's been long enough from the fact that I can probably share this without people freaking out since everyone knows I actually like them and actually ended up caring about basketball. (Until now I think I've only told 1-2 people)...

I originally joined D3hoops.com posting world in Jan 2002 with the intention of writing an anthropology paper on the CCIW chat room. It was an assignment in preparation for my trip to Africa in the summer and fall semesters of that year. The idea was that you were supposed to observe and adapt to a culture and go through the various stages of acceptance into the inner circle, and then write a paper about it. Back in the day there was relatively little published about online communities, and I still think it would have made an excellent paper, but the teacher made me do one where I was actually there in person and he didn't think meeting people at game counted, so I did it about a local coffee shop instead. Since I am pretty much the only student people these guys have ever liked (not to mention how I've been hit on, stalked, treated like a celebrity, gotten angry messages from coaches, etc), I ironically probably succeeded at my original goal, but it stopped being an actual goal after like, two weeks. I've only really thought about it a few times since, but when random things happen, like when I became a Hall of Fameer, or like when Keelan Amelianovich's mom (who is awesome! I am still friends with her on Facebook) suggested I write a book about my D3 experiences, I can't help but want to laugh.

So anyway, if I post a little bit like Greg it is probably subconscious at this point. However, it may have actually been intentional at one point. :-X Hahaha...

More seriously, I think Greg and I are kind of similar in some ways, which is why I enjoy his company. I, too, am a spelling correcting fiend. Actually I like to think I get along with most people, and I am sure we will meet someday if I keep posting  (which I am guessing will happen since the main reason I left in the past was stalkers, and I am faaar from a college coed anymore so I think I am safe).
